I’m thrilled to announce “Marsh Mellow” received an ‘Honorable Mention’ at the Va Beach Art Center’s “Tiny But Mighty” show, out of more than 200 entries. (All paintings had to be no more than 10”x 10”framed)….AND the painting sold during the Opening Reception!

“Yin Yang” ~an 8.5 x 11 watercolor
*poured in layers of watercolor rather than painted with a brush, matted in a inky blue/black with a white inner core

The black & white of the Panda is rooted in the Chinese philosophy of Yin Yang, which represents the balance between two opposite yet complimentary forces. Achieving a Yin Yang balance in one’s life means understanding that challenges and blessings, highs and lows, are all part of a greater whole in the ebb & flow of life’s journey.

My Watercolor II students had a great time creating these last 6 weeks….and knocked it out of the park!

As this delicate butterfly flutters between the beams of light, we are reminded of life’s fleeting moments, the promise of a new day, and the importance of embracing the joy of simple pleasures!

*this is a new rendition of a painting I did a few years ago, with some new additions. The colors obviously speak to me….it reminds me of those homesteads tucked away in the mountains of Virginia.
