Brilliant long weekend up on the north coast playing and enjoying Stendhal Festival - opening the festival on Thursday with Dark Tropics, easing the crowd out of hangovers with Laytha - it was so good to see everyone back again after a long time away. Massive thank you to the festival team for such a great experience (and the breakfast baps in hospitality).
Quick trip from Limavady to Portrush to play at Kellys Live Portrush with Anna's Number, and then home on Sunday to play Open House Festival at Ward Park Bangor - we took to the stage after The Florentinas - got to see them earlier in the weekend at Stendhal too - if you see them on a bill, go and catch them so you can say you were there.
Over 2 years in the making, the debut EP from Modern Rome is finally out! We took a more 'relaxed' approach to production than we normally would, giving us the chance to try out different instruments and techniques - head over to Spotify to listen to all the fun we had š¤

Beyond excited to be playing with Dark Tropics and Brigid O'Neill at one of the UK's first music festivals in 16 months - and my first two gigs in front of an audience since then too!
See you down there š¶

Iāve been getting to know my new Moog Sub 37 over the past few days - probably could have chosen an easier song to start out on synth bass than this one of Stevie Wonderās, but itās got so many great keys parts I couldnāt help it! Hereās āBoogie On Reggae Womanā - also featuring Arturiaās beaut Rhodes instrument.
The Moog was generously funded by and the Department for Communitiesā Musical Instruments scheme, and the Native Instruments KK S88 from the IERP I - thank you to them for their vital support over the past year.

It's been so good to work with Ben over the past couple of years and it's been amazing to see him come on and his style develop.

Give it a share if you can - there's more on the way soon!
So lucky to be part of a great team in front of the camera for 'the houseband'

Spent one sunny summer afternoon last year in Michael Mormecha's studio with a host of amazing musicians and interesting instruments to record a live session of one of Peter GW Sumadh's songs - this was my debut session on harmonium (an instrument I'd hardly heard of before this session). It turned into something unique - have a listen!

Check out Manukahunney's Sound Of Belfast set - performed live at the Black Box a few weeks ago. We reworked two of our original tracks to suit an intimate video like this - it's weird to be playing the Black Box with MH without a couple of hundred people dancing with us!
Recorded by John McGurgan, beautifully mixed by Graham Davidson at Half Bap Studios and all put together by WhiteNoise Design.

Big thank you to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for granting me (along with over 1000 other members of NI's arts sector) an award from their Individuals Emergency Reslience Program - part of the award will allow me to upgrade my home studio setup, and it will also support me through this difficult time for the industry.
Here's the final video from Manukahunney's live session for Ralph McClean's show on BBC Radio Ulster - Ben Murray did a particularly lovely job mixing this one!
