The research findings, published in in Neuroergonomics, offers a proactive approach to brain health screenings.

🌍 Happy Earth Day! Did you know that nature is a healing center for our brains? Numerous studies suggest that exposure to foliage, even indoors, reduces mental workload and stress. It can also positively impact working memory and ease depression symptoms.

A 2023 study by Rhee et al. fitted 30 adults with EMOTIV EPOC headsets and observed brain activity at three locations: a drab office room with no nature, an indoor space with some nature, and a greenhouse with abundant nature.

"Overall, the PRS-11 results demonstrated a positive effect of indoor nature that natural indoor environments have positive effects on restorative quality," the authors note. "These findings may contribute to the knowledge base for understanding the underlying mechanisms between indoor nature and perceived benefits, and guide designers to create restorative and cognitive enhancing spaces in design practice."
