🚀 Exciting News Alert! 🚀

We are constantly working to push the boundaries of innovation, and yesterday marked a significant milestone in our journey!

At the 2nd meeting of the IEEE P3228 Working Group, we presented "Blockchain-Enabled Economic Transactions: Recurring Financial Accruals and Payments."

This remarkable presentation is part of our project, "The Recurring Transactions on the Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs)," which has received approval from IEEE Computer Society/Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers (C/BDL) Standards Committee.

Our mission with this standard is to revolutionize various industries, including public services, banking, finance, insurance, real estate, commercial payments, and online services. By providing a powerful resource for implementing blockchain and distributed ledger-based recurring payment methods 💼💳

Decentralized platforms: Goals, challenges, and solutions 26/11/2022

Waterfall is proud to present a new paper, co-authored by our founder, that was recently published at IEEE Xplore: "Decentralized Platforms: Goals, Challenges, and Solutions.”

Today there is a trend to deploy both commercial and social applications and services on decentralized platforms. This trend strives to satisfy modern society’s demands for greater openness and transparency of information, freedom of access, and equal rights of participants. However, the sophisticated architecture of decentralized platforms poses new challenges to system developers.

This paper discusses the goals, tasks, and problems that arise when transitioning from traditional (centralized) to decentralized technologies, and presents potential ways to solve them.

Happy Monday, Waterfallers! 🍁

Let’s kick off the week with a quote from Seneca: “It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it.”

Remember: Time used wisely is the best investment ever⏳

Have a great week!

Waterfall is a highly-scalable smart contract platform for the development of decentralized applications (dapps) and financial services.
The distributed protocol is based on Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) with fast finality Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus.

The Waterfall platform consists of the Coordinating and Shard Networks, achieving high transaction throughput due to parallelized block production. The DAG structure facilitates scalability, which is one of the main challenges of decentralized technologies.

Let the begin!🎉

Waterfall's Hackathon is an online event that will focus on the development of Web3 applications, incorporating blockchain technologies🔗

Participants will get a chance to work with smart contracts, as well as develop various blockchain applications. To wrap up the event, you will present your prototypes to judges and other interested parties.

Categories to be considered for hackathon tasks include:

📌 Deploy ERC20/ERC721 tokens and set up a web interface to manage them (like list/minting/transfer).
📌 Based on ERC20/ERC721 tokens, create or improve (e.g., Aave / Curve / Uniswap) a financial instrument for staking, crediting mechanisms, etc.
📌 Implement a mechanism for management and voting in an organization.
📌 Implement a user-friendly web interface.
📌 Implement a game where assets are stored within NFTs, and ownership of the assets is determined by the rights of the NFT.
📌 Implement an NFT marketplace like https://opensea.io.

There will be four winners, and the opportunity to win:
🎁 1st place - $5,000
🎁 2nd place - $2,500
🎁 3rd place - $1,000
🎁 4th place - $500

Presently, our main goal is to be able to integrate with other protocols and ecosystems. A bridge test shows us how well our blockDAG integrates with other blockchains like Ethereum, Binance SmartChain, and with dApps like Uniswap🔗
Developers will be able to use the Waterfall protocol in the very near future.

Waterfall Bridge is a two-way token bridge that provides a seamless ERC-20 transfer. You can transfer ETH to the Waterfall network and back by cross-chaining Ethereum ERC-20.

The Waterfall network can already be used as a SideChain (https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/scaling/sidechains/ ) for WRAP ETH, and WRAP BNB (other tokens to be added to the queue).
The example below highlights the successful transactions of our Bridge.

To use ETH in decentralized applications on Waterfall, you simply commit WETH (wrapped ETH) to your Bridge account, and the equivalent token on Waterfall will be transferred. For user convenience, we have reduced our transaction fees.

Click https://waterfall.foundation/testnet_bridge_test_1/ to learn more about our bridge test.

If you have questions about the Waterfall project or our bridge test, please post them in the comments below ⬇️

Uniswap is a decentralized crypto trading ecosystem that hosts a growing network of DeFi apps.
The protocol provides a financial marketplace where developers, traders, and liquidity providers can trade, earn and build.

To use Uniswap with Waterfall, you must first install the MetaMask browser extension, or download the mobile app 📲

Once MetaMask is installed, you can set up Uniswap in a few simple steps:
1️⃣ Go to the Uniswap Waterfall link (https://uniswap.waterfall.network/ #/swap)
2️⃣ Click “Connect Wallet”
3️⃣ Select “MetaMask from the dropdown list
4️⃣ Confirm your connection
5️⃣ Select “Waterfall” in the networks list

Now you’re ready to dive into the Uniswap ecosystem!

MetaMask is a crypto wallet that provides a convenient gateway to blockchain applications. With MetaMask, you can easily manage all your digital assets in one place.

MetaMask equips you with a key vault, secure login, token wallet, and token exchange, so you can buy, send, swap and store tokens. Metamask is available as a browser extension, or you can download the mobile app.

You can easily install MetaMask on your browser in just a few simple steps:

1️⃣ Go to the MetaMask website
2️⃣ Click “Download”
3️⃣ Click “Install MetaMask for [select Browser Name]
4️⃣ Click “Add to [Browser]”
5️⃣ When the pop-up appears, click “Add”

To download the mobile app, visit your app store📲

📌 Validators
Waterfall uses the Coordinating Network chain for validator control. There is a statement “epoch” that includes 32 slots, and a committee is created in each slot for each shard.

At the beginning of each epoch, the validators are evenly distributed among 32 committees. If a minimum of eight validators is needed for each committee, we would need a total of 256 nodes/validators. To decrease the number of nodes deployed, we reduced the number of slots from 32 to eight, for a total of 64 nodes.

Each slot in the epoch is the time interval within which the blocks are created. On Testnet, we have set the time slots at 10 seconds, meaning that each 8-slot epoch lasts 80 seconds. For each slot lasting 10 seconds, finalization occurs in about 20 seconds.

For now, we are using only one committee per slot and sorting the committee validators. Depending on the number of transactions in the pool, we select how many blocks need to be created, and we use the sorting list to select which validator will take the transactions from its group. The transaction group is formed by the last number in the transaction hash, as is described in the specification.

📌 Metamask integration
In order for users to be able to test the network functionality and send transactions within the Waterfall network, we are using Metamask as a user-friendly tool. We will soon provide a guide on this page on how to set up MetaMask.

📌 Server parameters
We are using 64 2+Cores / 2 GB RAM Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers. At the moment of writing, the price is about 30 USD per month.
