Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are all the rage and
one of the most popular search item in 2021. Data from Google Trends reveals that for the first time global searches for the term "NFT" appear to have surpassed that for
"Crypto".

The first prediction for 2022 Crypto.com's analysts make in the report is that 2022 will be the year when the global number of crypto users for the first time reaches 1bn people. As of November 30 this year, there were more than 292m crypto users worldwide, the report said, while adding that the top three countries in terms of their number of crypto users are India with 100m, the United States with 27m and Russia with 17m.

Polkadot is an open source, blockchain platform and cryptocurrency that allows for distributed computing. The network uses a proof of stake consensus algorithm. The protocol used, Blind Assignment for Blockchain Extension (BABE), is derived from Ouroboros. The protocol was adapted by the Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood and is developed by the Web3 Foundation with the initial implementation by Parity Technologies.[citation needed]

Japan's tax body - the National Tax Agency - has updated its crypto FAQs, addressing issues including staking and crypto lending. But the body has made no mention of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or token airdrops a sign that it does not currently consider NFT trading or airdrops taxable. Per CoinPost, the agency (known as the NTA) updated its FAQs on December 22 to add new sections pertaining to "profits earned from" staking and lending coins. It remarked that when making tax calculations - which need to be made in fiat yen - it is important that crypto investors make a note of the market price of coins at the time of acquisition. The revised FAQs explain that the same rules should apply to staking and lending as already apply to crypto mining: the NTA regards mining as "acquiring" coins, which
means all tax calculations must be made at the time the coins come into miners' possession, using market prices to calculate their fiat yen worth.
If miners then sell their coins for a higher market price, the profit (in yen) needs to be declared

NEAR is a decentralized development platform that uses a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism and will eventually feature a sharded architecture to scale transaction throughput. Its block generation scheme is called Doomslug and its proposed sharding design is dubbed Nightshade. These technologies will work together to scale the network and minimize congestion. NEAR has also been designed to be developer and user-friendly as it features a few key innovations to accelerate the application development and user-onboarding processes. The NEAR blockchain was created and developed by the NEAR Foundation. Its mainnet went live in April 2020, and network validators voted to unlock token transfers in October 2020. NEAR's bridge to Ethereum (called the Rainbow Bridge) launched in March 2021.

NFT service next year via its new organization
LineNext to provide the marketplace for companies

Japan. Line is separately operating its NFT market
beta version through Line Bitmax wallet that is fit
for the Japanese market, a spokesperson of Line
said.

Decentraland was first described in a white paper published in March, 2017. Decentraland is a virtual world where users can buy, develop, and sell LAND, a non-fungible ERC-721 token that represents the ownership of virtual land in Decentraland. Each parcel of LAND is unique and owners get to choose what content they want to publish on their portion land, which can range from a simple, static scene to an interactive game. Users can purchase LAND as well as all other goods and services in Decentraland with MANA, a fungible ERC-20 token.

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Dubai World Trade
Centre (DWTC) will become a crypto zone and
regulator for cryptocurrencies and other
virtual assets, the Dubai Media Office said on
Monday, part of efforts to attract new business
as regional economic competition heats up.
The move by the DWTC to create a specialised
zone for virtual assets - including digital assets,
products, operators and exchanges- is part of a
drive by Dubai, one of the United Arab Emirates
federation of seven emirates, to create new
economic sectors, the statement said.
"Rigorous standards for investor protection,
anti money laundering, combating the
financing of terrorism, compliance and cross
border deal flow tracing," will be developed, it
said.

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle service. It improves smart contract interconnectivity by granting smart contracts access to reliable data feeds, APIs, payments, and other resources.
Essentially, Chainlink is a middleware between on-chain and off-chain systems. By giving smart contracts access to off-chain resources, Chainlink lets them react to real-world events and execute agreements that would otherwise need external proof of performance.
The Chainlink ecosystem is built around the LINK network and LINK token. Initially, Chainlink solutions are built on Ethereum blockchain, but the company intends to support all major smart contract chains.

Uniswap (UNI) is an Ethereum token that powers Uniswap, an automated liquidity provider that’s designed to make it easy to exchange Ethereum (ERC-20) tokens. Uniswap was founded by Hayden Adams, a former engineer at Siemens. There is no orderbook or central facilitator on Uniswap. Instead, tokens are exchanged through liquidity pools that are defined by smart contracts. The exchange began trading in 2018 and Uniswap launched its token in September 2020.

Litecoin (LTC) is a cryptocurrency that was founded in 2011, two years after Bitcoin, by a former Google engineer named Charlie Lee. Litecoin differs from Bitcoins in aspects like faster block generation rate and use of Scrypt as a proof-of-work (PoW) scheme. Litecoin has always been viewed as a reaction to Bitcoin.
