MARTIN ODEGAARD CONFIRMS ARSENAL EXIT

Martin Odegaard has said an emotional goodbye to Arsenal, after returning to Real Madrid.

The Norwegian spent the second half of last season on loan in North London from the Spanish giants.

Mikel Arteta hoped to keep the attacking midfielder at Emirates Stadium for a further campaign.

But the 22-year-old appears to have signalled his intention to stay at Madrid - by saying a final farewell.

He wrote on Instagram: " , Thank you so much for these 6 months.

"My time with the Arsenal family will always hold a special place in my heart.

"I wanna thank everyone in and around the club for the way you made me feel like a part of the family since the first day.

"Special thanks to the fans, even without you guys at the stadium for the majority of the season, I felt you with me at all times.

"A huge thank you to the boss and his staff for everything I’ve learned during my stay.

"Thank you also to all my teammates for such a great time on and off the pitch. Will miss you all😘

ARSENAL LINKED WITH PORTUGUESE STAR : RENATO SANCHEZ

According to The Express, Lille midfielder Renato Sanches 23 years old is a transfer target for Arsenal. The Portugal international, who was a vital part of Portugal’s midfield at this year’s Euros, is believed to be a target for the Gunners as they look to strengthen their squad after a poor season.

The article mentions that Sanches was a highly sought-after player during his teenage years. But things haven’t yet worked out for him at club level. After his impressive showings at SL Benfica, he has played at Bayern, Swansea, and now Lille. And here we look at why Arteta should take the call to bring him to the Emirates.
A number of midfielders could leave Arsenal

Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos played an important role in Arsenal’s midfield this past season. But the duo was only on loan from Real Madrid. The Londoners are also very close to losing Granit Xhaka.
Football.london report that the Swiss midfielder is likely to leave the Gunners in the summer and a move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma is ‘on the cards’. Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are also not certain to be at the club next season, with The Express stating there are ‘doubts’ over their future.

The two of them are anyway not the first name on the team-sheet for Arsenal but the Gunners could feel the heat if so many midfielders leave the club at once. Moreover, Lucas Torreira looks like he could finally get his permanent exit from the club. The Metro states that Lazio are looking to sign the Uruguayan midfielder.

Arsenal urged to keep hold of £16m-rated academy product

Nigel Winterburn says it’d be disastrous if Arsenal were to let playmaker Emile Smith Rowe leave the Emirates this summer.

The 20-year-old Englishman made a big impact after breaking into the club’s first team last December, impressing with a host of standout performances and registering two goals and four assists in 20 top-flight appearances.

Smith Rowe’s fine showings have clearly caught the attention of Dean Smith’s Aston Villa, who have made two offers for the Gunners academy product.

Although both of those bids have been rebuffed, Emile is a top transfer target for the Midlands outfit and the club’s interest appears unlikely to end there.

The midfield talent has two years left on his current deal at Arsenal, with an agreement yet to be reached on a fresh deal.

And former Arsenal defender Winterburn believes it is imperative that his old club keep hold of Smith Rowe.

‘If we were to let him go it would be a disaster, it would send out completely the wrong messages to our supporters,’ Nigel told Goal.

‘He’s a young player who’s had his breakthrough season, he’s been hugely impressive, and we cannot afford to let him go.

‘I do genuinely believe it would have such a negative impact on the club, we’ve got some good attacking young talent and to sell to another Premier League club would be a complete disaster.’

ARSENAL AHEAD IN RACE TO SIGN SASSUOLO MIDFIELDER MANUEL LOCATELLI. SAYS SERIE A CLUB'S SPORTING DIRECTOR

Arsenal have made a bid for the Italy midfielder, who has also been linked with Juventus; the 23-year-old has impressed at Euro 2020 for the Azzurri, scoring two goals in the 3-0 group stage victory over Switzerland

The Gunners have made a "concrete offer" for the Italy midfielder, according to the Serie A club's sporting director.

The 23-year-old has impressed at Euro 2020 for the Azzurri, and is expected to move on this summer.

Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Carnevali confirmed that talks are continuing with Serie A rivals Juventus, but that Arsenal are the leading contender from outside of Italy.

"Juventus are the only Italian club we talked to about Locatelli," Carnevali told Sky in Italy. "We met last week with (Juventus sporting director Federico) Cherubini.
Manuel Locatelli made 36 appearances for Sassuolo last season

"There is interest from their side, we haven't explored all the terms and evaluations, but we have an excellent relationship with Juventus so we will continue these talks.

STERLING, KANE LIFT ENGLAND PAST GERMANY AND INTO EURO 2020 QUARTER FINALS

'' Its Coming home''

Just like in the 1966 World Cup final, England triumphed over a German team at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, winning 2-0 to reach the European Championship quarterfinals.

Raheem Sterling was on the scoresheet, breaking the tense deadlock in the 75th minute in a move he started and completed.

The round of 16 finally saw England net more than once at Euro 2020, and for Harry Kane to shed the pressure on his shoulders by finally scoring. The striker headed in Jack Grealish’s cross in the 86th minute to give England only its second-ever win in the knockout stage of the European Championship.

The last such triumph came on penalties against Spain at Euro ’96 before the hosts were denied a place in the final by Germany in a shootout at Wembley.

England will play either Sweden or Ukraine in the Euro 2020 quarterfinals on Saturday in Rome.

Solskjaer happy to have fans back, even if Man Utd support shut out
Manchester United will not be able to welcome fans back to Old Trafford even as restrictions in other parts of England are eased next week.

But United Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is delighted that limited numbers of fans will soon be back in Premier League stadiums, even if United supporters are not among them.

Fans have been shut out of top-level matches in England since March but a relaxation of coronavirus restrictions will allow them back into grounds in some parts of England from next week.

London and Liverpool are among the areas to have been placed into the Tier-2 category based on infection rates, meaning up to 2,000 fans will be able to attend matches.

But clubs based in Tier-3 areas, such as Manchester and Birmingham, are still not allowed to open their gates.

United's visit to West Ham on December 5 will be the first Premier League game that fans can attend for eight months.

"I'm very pleased that we're making progress and we can let the fans in gradually," Solskjaer said on Friday.

"Of course we can't wait to see our own fans at Old Trafford and we know how long they've been waiting to be there to watch the games live.

"This is a step in the right direction and even though they are fans for the other team, they are still creating an atmosphere in the game."

United travel to high-flying Southampton on Sunday hoping to build on a run of three consecutive wins that have eased the pressure on Solskjaer.

But fifth-placed Saints are unbeaten in seven league games and sit four points ahead of United in the table.

"If you look over the last 13 or 14 games they're one of the top teams so they've made great improvements," said Solskjaer.

"We know how difficult it is. We drew twice against them last season so hopefully we can make improvements."

Midfielders Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay look set to miss out through injury, but Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have recovered from knocks and are expected to start.

TRANSFER NEWS FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE AND CHELSEA LIKELY LINE-UP’S FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON WITH KAI HAVERTZ, HAKIM ZIYECH, TIMO WERNER, BEN CHILWELL AND, THIAGO SILVA

Frank Lampard is facing a managerial headache once his summer spending spree is over.
The Chelsea boss has now brought in six additions for the upcoming season after Kai Havertz finally completed his blockbuster move on Friday from Bayer Leverkusen, bringing their spending this summer to 200 million pounds.
The German wonderkid joins Hakim Ziyech - who signed at the start of the year - Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr as new Blues.
With this new additions, Frank Lampard has plenty of options on how his new look side will shape up.
The manager's preferred formation last season was 4-3-3 and his new additions point to that remaining throughout the campaign.

Kepa Arrizabalaga looks set to fight for his position in the starting XI next season, but could go up against a new signing.Chelsea have been linked with Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy as well as Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan. Lampard may still consider W***y Caballero.

At the back Silva is expected to slot straight in, and will be partnered with either Antonio Rudigier, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen or Fikayo Tomori.
At left-back Chilwell who was signed from Leicester for £50million is expected towalk into the startingXI, barring any injuries.
At right-back Lampard has to decide whether skipper Cesar Azpilicueta keeps his place over promising defender Reece James.
N'Golo Kante was shifted back into his more preferred defensive role after the Premier League restart.
And with Lampard favouring attacking midfielders either side of the Frenchman, Mason Mount and Havertz are tipped to make up a fearsome trio.
But Chelsea's player of the season Mateo Kovacic is sure to rival them for the right to start.
If Lampard was to switch to a 4-2-3-1, it could see Kante paired with Kovacic or Jorginho in a deep-lying pair, with Havertz pushed into a No10 role.
Going forward Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are expected to occupy the flanks with Werner leading the line.
Havertz is also capable of playing out on the right, with Ziyech comfortable in an advanced midfield role too.
Similarly, speedy German Werner played five times on the left wing for RB Leipzig last season.
That means he could go out wide should Tammy Abraham or Olivier Giroud be preferred to start in the middle, adding more physicality.
Lampard also worked with three centre-backs last season with two attacking full-backs.
Azpilicueta could shift over to the centre to provide added experience next to Silva leaving one more space for Lampard's four other options.
Chilwell, capable of going forward and tracking back, would be pushed on to a more advanced role on the left, much like Marcos Alonso enjoyed at Stamford Bridge.
James would be a prime contender to occupy the right wing back position.
But having splashed the cash on Ziyech - who is renowned for his delivery - the Moroccan could be handed the unusual job of playing RWB.
Kante, Havertz, Kovacic, Jorginho and Mount are then in line to challenge for the two midfield spaces.
Pulisic, Werner and also Havertz and Ziyech - depending on where they are played - are options to play as inverted wingers.
If Werner was overlooked as a striker to instead play out wide, again Abraham and Giroud would compete to play through the middle.
Playing a 3-5-2 formation could now be unlikely for Lampard as it throws up too many problems for the Blues boss.
It would force him to either play Ziyech, Havertz, Chilwell and Werner out of position - or bench them to accommodate more conventional options.
Having focussed on attacking midfielders, wingers and a striker early on in the window, it points to Lampard building on a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 set up. With that in mind, check out our predicted line-ups.

You can also suggest the likely line ups in the comments.

LIONEL MESSI TO SEAL £623M TRANSFER DEAL WITH MAN CITY

Lionel Messi has agreed terms to complete a stunning move to Manchester City according to Daily Express, September 2
The Barcelona superstar does not intend to stay a minute longer as the latest reports suggested that the Argentina international has reached an agreement with City Football Group (CFG), owner of Manchester City. If the deal pushes through, Messi will end his career with CFG and the Catalan giants will be £623 million richer. Barcelona expect Lionel Messi to join Manchester City, with the Spanish club preparing for life without their iconic captain by looking at potential replacements, including Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez (Sunday Telegraph, August 30);
The numbers correspond with the transfer fee that the La Liga side will demand from the team that will acquire Messi this summer, and it appears that City will be that organization. CFG's contract offer will tie the Barca captain to a five-year deal with the company and will make him the highest football player on the planet.
Messi's payment will come in the form of equity stakes in CFG and while no specific figures were reported, the Daily Record said the star's wage is expected to exceed the salary he is getting from Barcelona, estimated to be around £500,000 per week.
The terms of the agreement will see Messi wearing the City shirt for at least three years starting in the upcoming season then he could spend the last two years with MLS club New York City FC, also owned by CFG. This is in line with the reports that the iconic forward wishes to reunite again with his former Manager Pep Guardiola at City.
It is believed that the Argentine is optimistic that his stint in the Premier League with Guardiola will give him a better shot at winning titles in the last years of his career. Messi has made it clear in the past that he wants to win the Champions League again and getting his hands on a Premier League title or two would not be that bad.
In City too, Messi seemed more confident of adding another Ballon d'Or to his collection of personal honors.
According to Give Me Sport, the football star is looking forward to continue with his winning ways as part of Guardiola's side in English football.
Manchester City are unwilling to include regular first team players as makeweights in a bid to sign Lionel Messi. Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez have all been mooted as potentially forming part of the negotiations (Daily Mail, August 29);

The deal, will only play out with the expressed consent coming from Barcelona and the Spanish club appeared unwilling to make it hard for Messi to abandon his existing contract with Camp Nou. The latest from the Catalans indicated that the only way the superstar can walk away for free is to skip the season altogether.

Such a condition only highlighted Barcelona's intention to keep Messi with the club for as long as possible. This aligns with the recent statement made by Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu that he's not going down in history as the Barcelona chief who lost Lionel Messi.

The offer, however, from CFG is one that is hard to ignore, specifically for a football club that has been losing money in the past months, which is the case of Barcelona.

MANCHESTER UNITED LATEST TRANSFER RUMOURS AND GOSSIPS 31/08/2020.KEY AMONG THEM, UNITED ATTEMPT TO HIJACK LIVERPOOL'S TARGET THIAGO ALCANTARA

It is the start of another week and one which is sure to be full of further speculation, rumours, and completed deals as the new season draws ever closer.
Manchester United are on the verge of signing Ajax's Donny van de Beek on a five year contract basis for a fee of £40m according to Reports
The Red Devils are reportedly closing in on a deal to add Van de Beek, who was part of the Ajax side that got to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019, to their squad. According to sports journalist and reporter Fabrizio Romano, the clubs have agreed to around £40 million ($53m) signing fee for the 23-year old.
"The agreement has been reached for €40m + add ons. Strong relationship between the two clubs and also Edwin Van der Sar himself has helped to complete the deal so fast. Van de Beek already agreed personal terms until June 2025," he wrote.
in addition,United have also been linked with Liverpool long time target and Champions League winner Thiago Alcantara, according to Norwegian journalist Fredrik Filtvedt.
The 29-year-old, who has one year left on his Bayern Munich contract, is set to leave the club this summer, and has been heavily linked with a £27million move to Liverpool. Thiago almost joined United in 2013 under David Moyes but eventually opted to sign for Bayern and has clearly long been on the 20-time Premier League champions' radar. United are also in the Market to strengthen their defence and have been linked with RB Leipzig’s centre back Dayot Upamecano' to partner Harry Maguire in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's defence next season despite Frenchman signing a new three-year contract earlier this summer
Reports say Manchester United want to sign RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano
The 21-year-old Frenchman recently signed a new contract at the Bundesliga club who reached the Champions League semi-finals before being knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain.
And according to ESPN, Solskjaer is confident in securing a deal for Upamecano before the transfer deadline on October 5.
Upamecano used to have a £53million release clause in his previous contract, but the new deal has reportedly seen that figure drop to £37m - though it can only be activated after the 2020-21 season.
The French defender has played 112 times for Leipzig since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2017.
Out of those displays, 37 came last season and Upamecano impressed as Julian Nagelsmann's side reached the last four of the competition.
In terms of centre-back options, Manchester United currently have Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof fighting for first-team spots alongside Maguire, while Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling were loaned out during the 2019-20 season.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE: TRANSFER ROMOURS AND GOSSIP

Today we want to focus on the transfer Rumours and Gossips involving Arsenal and Chelsea

Arsenal transfer rumours:

Atletico Madrid to offer players in Lacazette deal
Aubameyang Close to signing

Arsenal got the new season underway on Saturday as they beat Liverpool 5-4 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 in regular time to win the FA Community Shield2020.
Away from the pitch, the Gunners continue to make their preparations for the new campaign, with defender Gabriel Magalhaes close to joining the club.
Yet there is plenty more business to do if Mikel Arteta's side plan to close the gap on the top four this season.

Aubameyang deal 'close'
Mikel Arteta has insisted an agreement over a new deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close.
"No. I keep saying the same thing," Arteta said when asked for an update after the Community Shield.
"I try to do my job which is convince him he is in the right place, that he has the right environment here to produce like he has done today and like he did three weeks ago [in the FA Cup].
"I'm very positive he is going to sign. But there are a lot of things involved in a contract deal and we are trying to solve them."

Atletico keen on Lacazette
Atletico Madrid remain keen on signing Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.
According to Marca, Diego Simeone's men are pushing ahead of their plan to land the French forward and they are willing to sweeten the deal.
The report claims Atletico Madrid are willing to swap to players to land Lacazette, which will give the Gunners hope.Arsenal are attempting to sign Atletico midfielder Thomas Partey this summer, and if the Spanish club really are that keen on Lacazette, there may be room for manoeuvre.

Chelsea Transfer Rumours
Kepa Arrizabalaga replacements
Blues eyes cut-price Declan Rice deal
The latest transfer news and stories from Stamford Bridge

Chelsea return to Premier League action in just over two weeks’ time and Frank Lampard is looking to sharpen up his squad before the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Lampard is preparing for his second season in charge at Stamford Bridge, and has already added five new faces to his squad this summer.
There were two early bits of business in the shape of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. The Blues are still being linked with a host of new players as they look to make progress from their fourth-placed finish last season
Chelsea have secured a key advantage over Man United and other rivals in the transfer window so far.

Mendy bid
Chelsea have reportedly made an improved £18million bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Frank Lampard is searching for a new keeper after dropping Kepa Arrizabalaga towards the end of last season, preferring to use his stand-in W***y Caballero.
Mendy has been identified as the ideal signing after he helped Rennes to a third-placed finish in Ligue 1 and the club's first ever Champions League placing.
Having seen a £15million bid rejected earlier this week, Lampard's side have returned with an £18m bid and are awaiting Rennes' response, according to Goal.

Donnanruma talks

Chelsea have started talks to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma according to a latest report.
Alongside Mendy, the Blues are interested in the Italian shot-stopper to improve their options in goal.
Football Insider claims Chelsea are beginning to sound out a move for Donnarumma despite bidding for Mendy.
Reports earlier this week also touted Lille’s Mike Maignan as a potential target

Rice demand
Lampard wants Chelsea to complete a cut-price deal for West Ham star Declan Rice.
According to The Sun, the Chelsea boss has told the club he wants Rice in ahead of the new season, feeling the England international could prove a crucial component in the midfield.
The Blues have been on a spending spree this summer, already spending £125m, and the expected arrival of Kai Havertz could push that figure to over £200m.

But they may not be done there, Lampard believes Chelsea could convince West Ham to shave a chunk off their £80m valuation of their star midfielder.
Have your say, in the coming season will London be Blue or Red?

ARSENAL WIN THE FA COMMUNITY SHIELD 2020

Arsenal beat Liverpool 5-4 on penalties on Saturday to lift the FA Community Shield, the curtain-raiser for the English domestic season, after the two sides played out to a one all draw on a chilly afternoon at Wembley.
Gunners captain and match goal-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired in the final penalty of the afternoon to complete the north London side's second win over the league champions in the space of six weeks following a shortened summer break.
It was the Gunners' second trophy within a month following the side's FA Cup final win over Chelsea on Aug. 1.
Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk had an early strike ruled out for offside before Arsenal's opener, a well-worked move to break out of the champions' high press.
Bukayo Saka took the ball up the field on the right, crossed all the way over to Aubameyang on the far left, and the Gabon International striker skipped forward and curled an inch-perfect shot beyond the reach of Liverpool keeper Alisson into the opposite corner.
The Liverpool attack appeared disjointed by contrast. While they pushed Arsenal right back up the field for long stretches, they were unable to put together a single shot on goal in the first half.
Liverpool's Japanese substitute Takumi Minamino eventually levelled the tie in the 73rd minute with a shot from close range, picking up his first goal in 15 appearances since arriving on Merseyside in January from Red Bull Salzburg.
Mohamed Salah, Fabinho, Minamino and substitute Curtis Jones all scored for Liverpool in the shootout, but fellow late substitute Rhian Brewster blasted his shot - onto the bar.
Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Cedric Soares and David Luiz all scored for the Gunners before Aubameyang stroked his shot past Alisson to seal the victory for the North London Club.
