If you feel abandoned in your grief process, you’re not alone. Bereavement can be deeply isolating, made worse when we feel those we love don’t understand.
John Edward said succinctly that the first year after loss, many get support that they don’t receive by the second year. There’s an expectation by society to move on. Equally, compassion fatigue sets in and people don’t know what else to say.
People understand that a first birthday or Christmas is hard, but what about year 2? Or year 5? Grant yourself the permission to grieve, no matter how long it has been. Check in on those you know who have experienced loss - whether recent or long ago, a kind word is immensely more helpful than deafening silence.
