Ang tema ngayong taon na โ€œHealthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All," ay para mas bigyang pansin ang kahalagahan ng pangangalaga sa kalusugan, nutrisyon, at tirahan para sa kanilang pag-unlad.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility!

Pantay na partisipayon at representasyon sa peace process

CLAIRE P. PULANCO: The Lioness of Naguilian Senior High School
By: Polly Anne F. Rovero

โ€œMy passion to serve the people of the organization, the school personnel and learners inspired me to always perform my duties and responsibilities to the best of my ability.โ€ This is one of the inspirations of the present principal of Naguilian Senior High School. Her desire to serve the organization and its people keep the fire burning in the heart of our lioness.

Our lioness was born on the twelfth day of February in the year 1979. She is the daughter if Mauricio Raquino Pulmano and Mrs. Flordeliza Nobellos Quibin of Naguilian, La Union. In 1992, she finished her elementary at Magungunay Elementary School. She graduated at Magungunay National High School. Then she pushed through her college at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus, Agoo, La Union and graduated in the year 2000 with the degree Bachelor of Secondary Education.

She enrolled her Master of Arts in Technology Education in Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Mid La Union Campus. And finally, she completed the Academic Requirement for Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Education Management at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus.

Ms. Claire P. Pulanco assumed her office at Naguilian Senior High School during the turn-over and installation ceremony held on February 09, 2021 at the NSHS Hall. Her predecessor Ms. Zoila Acevedo Martinez joined the creator on August 17, 2021, leaving the office to Mr. Wilhelm Francis C. Saldo, who served as the Officer-in-Charge for a short time of five months.

Aside from being brilliant principal and a pillar of our school, her willingness and determination will boost the performance of school personnel and the school itself. Her pioneering vision for our school can be seen through her plans and projects.

She became a Regional Trainer during the Mass Training of Teachers on K to 12 BEC in Araling Panlipunan Grade 7, 9, and 10; and during the Training on Araling Panlipinan Teaching Methodologies. She is also one of the Trainer during the Division/ Cluster Training-Workshop on Local History; Orientation-Seminar on Comprehensive Sexuality Education; and Leadership Trainings for Supreme Pupil Government and Supreme Student Government.

Despite of the adversities and challenges of being a School Administrator, she managed to join National and International Seminars such as National Training of Teachers of Grade 10 Araling Panlipunan (Kontemporarying Isyu) at PICC, Tagaytay City on April 17 to April 22, 2017; international workshop on Kyusei Nature Farming and EM Technology at Kyusei Nature Farm Bangkok, Thailand on February 20 to February 22, 2018; 3rd GEN TELF International Conference on Research at Novutel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 11 to May 13, 2018; and Training for Supreme Student Government and Supreme Pupil Government advisers, School Heads, Youth Formation Coordinator at La Virginia Resort, Lipa, Batangas on January 13 to January 16, 2017.

She was a Scholarship Grantee for Fellow in School Leaders Development Program of EXCEL Foundation on February 2014 to February 2015.
She was a Finalist for the 2013 Most Outstanding Teacher of the Province of La Union and a Division and Regional Runner-Up for Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer in the year 2015 and 2016. At present, she is one of the writers of DepEd Naguilian History and LUSDO History.

Indeed, our lioness is not just an image of a working mom and a woman, but a portrait of a woman who empowers her people. Truly, our School Principal is a โ€œLionessโ€ โ€“ an icon of bold and fierce beauty yet gentle and nurturing like a true queen should be. She is extremely independent and ambition driven but when it comes to her family โ€“ the DepEd, she empowers the organization and showers the stakeholders with extreme love and care. Driven with the LUSD Mantra โ€“ EXCELLENCE we profess, CARE we cultivate, LOVE we share, KINDNESS we embrace, HUMILITY we live, our lioness can be the queen in her own right, the ideal model of tenderness and fierceness that women will ever find. She depicts a magnificent image of beauty and strength. A woman that exists in all her glory being a courageous and empowering woman, ready to rock the world. She is fearless, bold and at the same time aware of her responsibilities and faithful to them.

2023 National Womenโ€™s Month Celebration

In the Philippines, March is celebrated as Women's Month. Since 1988, Filipinos have devoted the entire month to honoring the accomplishments of the country's women and raising awareness of issues such as sexism, domestic abuse, and other challenges that women face every day.

Now at 2023 National Women's Month Celebration, the main goal is to signal a turning point in the advancement of women's rights by introducing a new recurring theme from this year through 2028: WE for gender equality and inclusive society.

Moreso, the 2023 National Women's Month Celebration will also focus on the empowerment of women and girls to maximize their benefit from innovation and technology and close the gender gap in ICT and connectivity. This is in line with the UN Women's International Women's Day theme, "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality."

In this regard, the Naguilian Senior High School will coordinate these crucial activities aimed at promoting positive advocacy for equality and inclusivity where ALL, regardless of gender, ability, status, and situation, are respected and afforded their rights.

Naguilian Senior High School celebrates 2022 World Teachers' Day

All across the world, Teacher's Day celebrations are undertaken to honor teachers for their sincere efforts to impart knowledge to their students. By having celebrations on Teacher's Day, we convey the message that we care for our teachers, just as they do. Celebrating the festival is the recognition of the devotion, with which, teachers undertake the responsibility of educating a child academically as well as morally.
Teachers play an important role in the growth of students. The festival known as Teacher's Day seeks to celebrate this unparalleled contribution made by teachers, in the life of their students. The ceremonious occasion is celebrated in different ways at different places. On October 4, 2022, Naguilian Senior High School celebrated World Teachers Day pursuant to Deped Memorandum No. 85 Series 2022 with this year's theme โ€œGurong Pilipino: Dangal ng Sambayanang Pilipinoโ€. The said activity started at exactly 8:00 in the morning, featuring the Cowboy and Cowgirl Cosplay Costume of the Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel. This year, Naguilian Senior High School Teachersโ€™ day is celebrated with much fervour in our school with every student and faculty, actively participating in the event. It is a lay back day for the teachers as they are excused from following the daily routine. Many events are organized by the students in honor of their beloved teachers. Students perform presentations, prepare fun games, display the importance of a teacher in society and give speeches on the contribution of great renowned teachers as well as their own teachers. The idea basically is to convey the message that every teacher is important.
The activity started with a prayer and singing of the national anthem. Followed by the Opening and Welcome Remarks by Ms. Kharylle Frances A. Panit, SSG Vice-President. Ms. Claire P. Pulanco, our School Principal delivered her Teachersโ€™ Day message and conveyed her heartfelt thanks to the perseverance and dedication of the Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel. One of the highlights of the event is the King and Queen of the Ramp-Teacher Edition which allows the Teaching and Non-teaching Personnel of Naguilian Senior High School to showcase their expertise in pageantry.
Honoring teachers and giving gifts to them as a symbol of obligation towards their service, has become a tradition and an integral part of teacherโ€™s Day celebration in our community which usually done hand in hand with external stakeholders in the community that include the PTA officials, Barangay Officials, and LGU Officials.
Through the teachersโ€™ day, personnel were also recognized for their commitment and hardwork. Mr. Wilhelm Francis C. Saldo and Ms. Marybeth N. Garcia are awarded as the 2022 Most Outstanding Proficient and Highly Proficient Teachers respectively. Additionally, Ms. Laurice B. Agustin, Ms. Polly Anne F. Rovero and Ms. Jenybeth R. Belen bagged the award for Outstanding Teachers for the School Year 2021-2022.
The Supreme Student Government also granted awards to some teachers for the school-based contest they have organized. One of which is the Most Organized Classroom wherein 11-Bourdain and 11-Garret, under the advisory class of Ms. Emily S. Lagasca and Mr. Alexis H. Rillera ranked as Champions. Eco-friendly classrooms champs were 11-Bourdain and 11-Garrett and Most Disciplined Class were bagged by 11-Garrett and 11-Sandberg. Mr. Alexis H. Rillera and Ms. Polly Anne F. Rovero are awarded as the Teacher of the Month for the month of September 2022.
The Gender and Development Focal Point System Members in partnership with the Supreme Student Government also initiated the School-based search for Best Gender and Development (GAD) Implementer. Among the awardees of Best GAD Implementer are Mr. Wilhelm Francis C. Saldo, Ms. Jenybeth R. Belen, Ms. Marybeth N. Garcia, Ms. Emily S. Lagasca and Mr. Alexis H. Rillera
Smiles evidently seen on each face who attended the said event. With all the willing hearts and endeavor of the students to realize its purpose, they uttered and demonstrated their praise and thanks giving to their beloved teachers who are tireless in imparting knowledge and directing their path in their daily lives through gift giving and simple hugs and kisses that were all precious to the eyes of the teachers.
Indeed, the whole commemoration became triumphant through the boundless efforts, unity and participation of every student especially the school student government headed by Mr. Mark Ian S. Gacad, SSG President and participating external stakeholders who have never been tired and endlessly giving high regard to their existing hero,,,,that is USโ€ฆTEACHERS!!!
CONGRATULATIONS to all of US for WE are LEADERS and the THRESHOLD OF WISDOM and many thank us for our lifetime of service and commitment for the betterment of humanity.
