Fairbloom's Cottage
Sustainable, reusable home goods for your family, pets and personal needs.
Next Friday join me and these other talented makers, artists and small businesses to kick off the Fall market season.
Hi all! Popping in to share this because I love it and think it'll resonate with others. I've been enjoying spending my time focused on my nannykids this week to make it fun and special before school starts up again. A very happy little meatball got to try cotton candy today for the first time ever, while we trekked the entire zoo together. So, no new products until this weekend (maybe, I just might take that off too).
I am learning how to knit using a loom though, that's been fun and the perfect mental stimulation/dopamine hit in the evenings. Inspired to finally try after meeting some cool people at last Saturday's event.
Hope everyone's having an amazing week!
Today was so great. ð I loved being a part of Charm City Meadworks 2nd annual Bee-zar! The vendors were amazing, the customers so friendly and the staff was awesome. I got some sweet stuff too; Apron and coasters from .friend.crochet, floofy earrings from .self.666, a lavender beehive candle from , a new magnet (squeee) from and these amazing prints from .art that I am obsessed with and can not wait to get up on one my gallery walls!
I'm off until Sept event wise, but then I'm back to setting up shop. Catch me at .2023, and Pigtown Street Festival.
Tye dye update:
These turned out so amazing!! I am so thrilled with and proud of the Z I made. My first time figuring out how to make letters.
And holy crap, my 3yo nannykid made such beautiful shirts. He genuinely did them himself save for me tying the folds he created. He chose and applied the colors, too, along with deciding on the placements. From using the fork to make the spiral to pinching and pulling to make the circles. So proud of him. And he is over the moon.
For those who are new, I work full time as a Nanny. I love my career and occasionally post about it here, too. These are not shop products, I'm just so proud of my little meatball, who is somehow 3 years old now. I started when he was a whole 6 weeks old, and now we have a sibling and share friend too. I don't take these special moments lightly.
I have no new products to showcase this week, so enjoy some toddler fun spam.
Really excited about being a part of this cool Bee-zar on National Bee Day this weekend! Come out to learn, shop and enjoy a variety of meads at /Charm City Meadworks with me and a bunch of other amazingly talented artists, artisans and makers.
You know you want to do some sippysippy-shopyshopy ðððŧð· ð
Did I. . .
Rob a bank?
Or, tye dye with my nannypumpkin without wearing gloves (again)? ð
This is a summertime tradition I've done for the past 20+ years with all of my nannykids. And it makes my heart SO full. A silly but heartwarming activity that captures fun moments. ð
Come out and hang out with us at Overlea ArtsFest / !
It's absolutely gorgeous out, the bands are wonderful and the dance performances are beautiful.
Festival goes until 6pm
Six new sets of single ply Unpaper Towels ready for tomorrow! They'll be joining the rest of the Unpaper Towels stock I've built up over the past few weeks.
Can't wait to be set up and mingling with other amazing artisans and artists tomorrow at Overlea ArtsFest / and meeting new customers.
This sweet (and petrified) puppy is enjoying the snuggles while I cut out new sets or Unpaper Towels to work on next week. Pixie Pie is terrified of thunderstorms so it's been a hard weekend for her so far.
I hope all the artists, artisans and other vendors at ArtScape are safe. The storms have been so bad and I've been thinking of all of you since last night.
Please do what you need to do to be safe!
Unfortunately the weather is continuing to be inhospitable. Stay as cool as you can everyone, keep hydrated and check in on your neighbors, especially our elderly friends and family. Until September!
Made a trivet too! But I want to work on how I finish them before they'll be for sale. I love the handle, but I don't care for the messy look to the stitching.
I'll have them in three sizes, and different shapes once I settle on how to finish off the handle loops. Small pot, large pot and casserole size.
Mooooooore rope bowls because I can and I had a little extra sewing time today.
These really have held my rapt attention. Playing around with all the different ways to shape and design them, and ways to choose to finish them. Clearly they're now a mainstay of my product lines.
More freshly off the machine goodies. Dinner Napkins and a zipper pouch.
Trying to decide what to focus on next week... Do I want to keep working my way through the already prepped piles or will my adhd win and pick something completely new and different? ðĪŠ
Just for giggles. Whether I'm at work with my nannykids or home with my pets, or at events (actually this is a rare occasion where I do get to p*e alone lol)
*ealoneanyway ð

ð Another bowl. I'll be switching to a run of different products again soon. I want to get two or three more of these done first. They're fun, and I have a feeling they will be very popular.
Makers like me, use the summer months to build up stock on the products that will (hopefully) be big hits during the busy Fall and Holiday Market season.
I have some really exciting big shows for this last quarter of the year!
My next event is /Overlea ArtsFest on August 10th.
Still making up for 'lost time' and I'm feeling so productive. ð
Three brand new coin purses, two more 7pc sets of face cleansing pad sets, and another 4pc set of cotton rope coasters in their own bowl.
Still unable to attend events, due to my ankle and foot, on top of being under the weather over the weekend. But I have been busy creating and finishing products!
Natural background with pink and camel flowers and leaves pattern. Perfectly mitered corners and double rolled and pressed edges. Generously cut at 19x29 inches!

Light olive green, with small olive branches ðŦ and "enjoy life" text. Perfectly mitered corners and double rolled and pressed edges. Generously cut at 19x29 inches!
It was a most productive afternoon today! I made three new products:
-A medium sized, low profile rope bowl,
-A small, low profile trinket bowl, and
-A set of 4 coasters in their own small bowl.
ð
This one turned out stunning, and even has a reinforced bottom ring to help give it a touch more structure. And a little handle!
Premiers this weekend!
Editing to add: this post was not intended as a way to phish for compliments. It was to show a dud but a happy attempt. To keep me humble.
My bowl from today, to me and my standards, feels like a dud. Which is disappointing but I'll just keep it for myself lol.
It's sloppy and more floppy then anticipated, and I should have either skipped adding corded fabric altogether or done more. But I get lost in The Black Bird Oracle audio book and well... there it is.
Next time I will also use color matching thread, I am not a fan of the contrast.
