Wedding season is quickly approaching and I am SO. EXCITED.

Warmer weather, stunning aesthetics, and tons of creative ideas all out on display. Think of it, there are so many talented vendors out there, its hard to not love my job. I get to capture ALL OF THAT 😍😍😍

When I'm not shooting my own weddings, I am second shooting with other awesome photographers across the state. As someone who desires to constantly learn, and learn new things-- Yah, know, to keep it fresh-- its a perfect opportunity to be an extra hand and learn on the go (my favorite kind of learning).

It's been a blessing to meet and work with this awesome creatives, and I've developed truly amazing friendships and community from it. I can't wait for more this year!

With the state of the world right now I am reminded that there is beauty and peace in photographs, but on the other side of the world, theres a different reality.

As a photographer, I document what is happening in the now, especially in photo sessions. Not every image is cheerful, but I feel its only fair to show what's real. Just like this adorable carrot-top! He was a bundle of energy the entire time but he still wasn't having it -- here in this short moment, you can't even tell!

As with the state of the world now, my journey with photography will begin to unfold a little differently to document more "now" moments, but until then, I will reminisce with the joyful images I shared with my clients that I hold near and dear to my heart.

This photo was one of my favorites from this session. What's almost funny is this sweetie pie little girl was pretty much done with photos at this point, but had just a few more giggles and laughs for us!🤩

I absolutely adored the fact that she was wearing jellies -- yes ladies! Jellies! do you remember when those were legit the THING to wear!?

Funny how it all happens all over again!😅

Marissa and Dustin's engagement session was "abso-freaking-toot-ly" awesome. I mean I can't get over how in love and infatuated they are with each other. Utica Train Station was the perfect session for their session, and honestly I am just in love with marble a *bit* too much - ha!

Cannot wait for your wedding day this year, guys! we are going to have so much fun!!

❓Can I do a "just because" portrait session, or do I need a reason?

💡 Just because is the best reason to do anything! You don't need a special event or a "legit" reason to schedule a session with me. Family, branding or even just a solo-just-because-you-want-to.

❓Do you also do BFF sessions?

💡 Is the Pope Catholic? Heck yea, in fact I so encourage you to book one -- they are so much fun and a great bonding experience together!

❓ Posing? Styling? Make us look good?

💡 I got ya covered. I have a guide for that. And you look amazing no matter what, but don't you worry your little heart. I've been doing this so long, you wont even realize how easy it will be to relax and just be in the moment, looking and feeling your best!

How am I supposed to say "yaaas" to a traditional dinner route when a food truck option exists for your wedding????

Holy moly this food was amazing! knocked it out of the park.

I wanted to share some tips on how to prepare for your next photo session, whether it's a family session, portrait session, or a business & branding session
Somethings to pay close attention to:

1. Choose your outfits carefully - think about the colors, styles, and accessories that will look best on you and on camera. Consider textures, patterns, and props like jewelry, hats and scarves.

2. Consider your location - think about the background, lighting, and atmosphere that will complement your shoot. If in a studio, is there a certain backdrop that suits you best?

3. Plan ahead - make sure you have all the necessary props or materials you'll need for the shoot. For branding I always suggest at least one or two items that define your brand.

4. Get plenty of rest and hydration the night before - this will help you look and feel your best on the day of the shoot. I typically tell families and couples to spend the day together just having fun, that way you arrive to the shoot refreshed and as an extension of the fun you were having prior!

5. Trust your photographer - they are the professionals and will guide you through the shoot to get the best results! I like to explain to all of my clients that most of the “posing” I give you is very relaxed and mostly candid. What better way to bring out your true personality!

I believe that taking a solid photograph is an underrated skill in the photography industry. Keep reading to hear my three tips to have a great portrait session:

When capturing couples or families, there’s always a place to keep their hands busy and their minds distracted. When I shoot a portrait, it’s just me, my camera and you, my client 🩶. I feel that its a special skill, with loads of effort, to capture an authentic expression for one person rather than a couple who shares the potential nerves, the experience and the emotion during a photo session. . . .

The top 3 Things I like to do to make the most of your next portrait session:

1. I’m going to take the time to really get to know you a bit better before your session and understand the general vibe you are going for — so we are both on the same page going into it. I’ll schedule a quick call and I may send you a brief questionnaire to get the details. Often the goal of a portrait is to capture the heart, soul and personality of the person i'm photographing so preparing a comfortable space so they can feel themselves will always be a priority.

2. Before your session,I’m going to prepare your favorite tunes and curate a little playlist just for you. Just some background music to get into. It helps any awkward silence that might allow for nerves to creep in. It’s a little extra work but so worth it!

3. I really pay attention to body language and posture. It’s amazing what the body can do to depict a mood — often we’re so focused on someones face that it’s easy to forget how important the rest is.
