A natural affinity, part two For the second half of their two-part conversation, Baea founder, Adah Chan, and Creative Director, Catherine Reeves, continue their discussion around nature, design and the things that inspire them.

For many artists inspired by nature, their work is framed by a paper's edge or camera's viewfinder as they endeavour to capture a landscape.

For Ricardo Rodríguez, the frame itself is the art. His minimalist sculptures allow the viewer to set the scene, blurring the distinction between inside and out.

"We believe that bringing nature into the home through design creates both a sense of calm and a reminder of the importance of caring for our environment."

Sustainable Bedding Company Baea Is Bringing Nature In Baea, a new Hong Kong-based bedding and homeware company founded by Adah Chan, combines sustainability with quality and luxury.

Our Rocks collection is inspired by the bold shapes and intricate patterns found in geological formations. The result is a deceptively pared-down motif, interpreted in several colourways, including Bronze Gold.

Sometimes when light catches the lustrous embroidery thread, we're reminded of pebbles in a streambed. At other times, it's towering, wind-smoothed desert boulders that come to mind.

We've been looking at a lot of rocks in architecture, but this is the first time we've come across a stone curtain!

This renovation in Northeastern Italy — aptly named STONED — reimagines vernacular materials in ways that defy expectation and, seemingly, gravity. Stefano Pujatt is the architect rocking the house.

We're fascinated by the Mono-ha, a group of artists who — in the late 60s and 70s — were exploring tensions and harmonies between natural and manmade materials.

For this site-specific installation, artist Kishio Suga has brought rocks into the gallery and arranged them on concrete plinths, holding in place a clear plastic sheet that stretches across the space like the serene surface of a lake.

Is it just us, or do these paintings also remind you of spotting a perfect pebble on the beach?

We love Los Angeles-based artist Fong Min Liao's simple forms — and not just because they bring to mind our Rocks collection.

In reference to the landscape of the Scottish Borders where she lives, Textile artist Pauline Burbage often incorporates grasses — working from sketches made in the field.

This beautiful (and functional!) piece is called Rye Grass.

No two Linea Bowls are the same. Each is handmade by Lauren using a variation on a masterful technique developed for her sought after sculptures. Whether filled with potpourri, keepsakes or other miscellania, every Linea Bowl's unique composition of apertures and organically converging lines is a constant reminder to Let Nature In.

Grasses are astounding. Recent fossil evidence suggest they may have evolved around 66 million years ago. And they're found on every continent, including Antarctica. They may be ubiquitous, but we don't think that makes them any less inspiring.

New Sustainable Textiles Brand Launches During Lockdown While lockdown has posed many challenges to a variety of businesses, one brand still managed to go ahead with their previously scheduled launch despite the circumstances. Baea is a new sustainable textiles brand based in London and Hong Kong, helping its customers to embrace nature within the home.

Perched above the National Elk Reserve, the residents of this Wyoming home enjoy spectacular views all year round, not least during the winter when the 11,000 strong Jackson Herd returns to spend the season in the valley below.

At the heart of all our designs are the unexpected details that make each object special.

Our Essentials collection is no exception — notice the subtle use of colour in the merrow stitching on our Oxford pillowcases.

Rather than creating a space that shelters its occupants from the ice and snow — as is necessary in Scandinavia —this Nordic contribution to the Giardini della Biennale in Venice from 1959 appears open to the elements, letting in sunlight, rain and even trees!

For many of us, windows are our connection to the outside world right now — In this home in Cancun, Mexico, the landscape becomes an unusually shaped abstract painting, coloured by sky and vegetation.

Erratic lines trace routes across a seemingly blank space, creating shapes as they collide and intersect.

The Baea mark was inspired by the form of a bay when seen from above. For us, it's a reminder of the importance of home.

Here, it's been pressed into clay by Lauren Nauman, with who we've created our first range of ceramic objects for the home. Excited to share more on that front very soon…

Sometimes it's not what you add, but what you take away…

Artist Paolo Scheggi cut voids into superimposed monochromatic canvases, creating new worlds of natural forms with little more than space, depth and shadow.

Like the wild grasses that inspired our Meadow designs, the cotton that make our bedding too has its roots in the natural world.
