Kalamazoo Speedway Mini Wedge Series

June 21 Kalamazoo speedway is doing their autograph night and mini wedges are invited to come out with their wedges and sign autographs. We will work on more details in the next week but pencil it in!

I will work on getting the wedges to be able to go around the track and fly the American flag during the National anthem 🤞🏼🤞🏼

If you have been to an event this year, you will notice a few guys walking around and talking/helping teams out. Those guys are Wedge Innovations. They are the new owners of woodin mini wedges. If you have any questions or need anything mini wedge related, make sure you go check them out. They are a great group with the same goals as us, keep racing alive and build the future of short track racing. We are excited to have them visit our events!

A few changes moving forward
Juniors will continue to do the “Indy car starts”. But we will stagger the karts. After hearing of a few concerns with those starts, I want to make sure nobody gets “stuck” behind someone if they don’t “go”

Also. Any caution that happens at the start of the race, before a lap is completed.
I made an error and would utilize the caution car rule. After talking with a few people, we all came to an agreement that just like with the big track, if a caution happens before a lap is completed, it will be a complete restart with nobody being the caution car. But. If you go into the hot pits or pull to the pits and then return, you will go to the back. I obviously can’t go back and change previous calls that may have been made that may have affected anything but I can apologize.

I’ve told everyone before, if something doesn’t seem right, my crew and I are always open to hear any concerns. But again. Come to us in a respectful way and it will be much smoother.

We also are recording the race, when there is a questionable call that we have to make, we will utilize the footage and make the best call that we can. Today is a good example. One point the caution flew after a pass was made for the lead, but we go back to the last completed lap. We were able to go back and look and make sure that the lap was never completed to verify the correct call
There was 2 cars that spun out at different spots of the track. We had to make a call on who was the caution called for. We were able to pause and go frame by frame to verify who the caution was for.
(The spins happened within seconds of each other where without the video, we aren’t sure we would of made the right call)
I promise you, we try 110 percent to make sure we are making the right calls and will do everything we can to be 100 percent fair.

This program is nothing without all of the support from you and your kids and we are so dang thankful for all the support

Hello all. I wanted to take a minute and thank each and every one of you that came out and supported this program and the kids.
Unfortunately things didn’t run to my standards yesterday and I wanted to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement. I, along with everyone who volunteers their time with this program take pride in what we are trying to accomplish and we set a very high standard for ourselves.
I understand there are things that are out of our control on event days but I promise you that I will do everything that I can to make everything run smoothly.
All of these kids are the future of short track racing. We need them to keep this sport alive.

Between the mini wedges and the race carts, we had a record day. 15 wedges and 7 go carts. So thank you!

Looking forward to another exciting day of racing tomorrow! Remember to keep the kids hydrated, it's going to be a warm one. Heat races will be pill drawn, and features will be fully inverted based on the finishing order of the second heat race. If you don't race in the heat race, you'll start at the back of the feature. If you fail to finish the heat race, you'll start at the tail end as well.

We will get points out asap. Life has been busy for us!

We appreciate everyone's support in making today's event a success, with a record turnout of 17 wedges. While there were a few hiccups, we are generally happy with the results. Thank you!

A few reminders for tomorrow. (Long post)

-Gates open at 11am
-5 minute practice session for each class starting with juniors at 12:00 sharp
-Park in the infield by turn 3 & 4
-$30 entry fee for just the driver
-If you haven’t filled out the registration form, we will have them available.
-When you pay and sign the waiver, we will do the chip draw for starting position in the heats.
-Feature race will be full invert from the second heat race finishing order
-Junior class will run green restrictors. Minimum weight is 335lbs
-We are hand scoring this year, please bare with us with this.
-Heat race winners get a medal
-Trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in the feature
-Feature winners also receive free taco coupons from Taco Bell
-There will be a line set up that parents and spectators can not cross. This is an insurance issue that we have to abide by, only exception is if your child is stuck on the track and a race official tells you to go out there.
-For tomorrow, we will line your child up in the make ready chute for the races, working on a good way to post lineups for everyone.

💥OPENING DAY💥 Experience the excitement of Kalamazoo Mini Wedge Series this Sunday, May 5, as young racers take the track for opening day! With spectators admitted for FREE, you won't want to miss these impressive kids demonstrating their talents! This will be a points race for all young racers competing this year!!! Their determination is crazy high this season, and they are excited for a big crowd!
