How often do you underestimate yourself?
How often do you need approval from others to feel more confident?
I faced this recurring issue again yesterday when I posted in one of the Facebook groups and showed off the JOYSIE kids cardigan - https://jollylizard.etsy.com/listing/1750682771 - that I designed and crocheted.
The number of likes and incredibly positive comments both surprised and embarrassed me 🫣 It was unexpected, but it gave me a boost of confidence that is hard to describe in words 🥰
Is this imposter syndrome? 🤔

JOYSIE kids cardigan is ready ❤️🌸☀️🙂
I’ve been working on this piece for quite some time.
The reason: I don’t want to use appliqués on granny squares.
I’m pretty sure that appliqués make cardigans heavier and bulkier. That’s why I’ve designed heart and flower granny squares without using any appliqué.
And now I’m finally satisfied with the result 😊
The crochet pattern will be available soon in different sizes.
DON’T start crocheting if you're not ready to this:
1. Inspiration will not come every day. Sometimes you may feel completely lost about what to crochet, while other times your mind may overflow with ideas, leading to multiple works in progress.
2. Crocheted items do not sell immediately, unfortunately.
3. You might feel like giving up about a hundred times until a new idea strikes.
4. Some people may say that crocheting is a pastime for elderly grandmothers and may not support you (fortunately, I have not encountered this).
5. Yarn will be scattered all over your apartment, often in the most unexpected places, and it will always run out at the most inconvenient times.
6. It will be hard to part with the finished items.
7. You may find yourself constantly learning new techniques, which can be both exciting and a bit overwhelming.
8. The search for the perfect yarn can become a hobby in itself, leading to many hours spent in craft stores or browsing online shops.
9. Friends and family might start requesting custom pieces, turning your hobby into a part-time job.
10. You will develop a new appreciation for handmade items, understanding the time, effort, and creativity that go into them.
But if you can overcome these challenges, crocheting can become the main passion of your life!
🌸 to one of my very first baby blanket designs!
Even though it’s an older creation, it still holds a special place in my heart. Made from breezy cotton, it’s perfect for summer cuddles.
And aren’t those flower details just adorable?
I love revisiting where my journey began and seeing how far we’ve come! 💕

🌈✨ UPDATE
Another day and another project news!
I’m in the middle of a vibrant project for Granny Squares Month this June, in collaboration with the wonderful folks at Hobbii. This is gonna be a whimsical kids’ cardigan, perfect for breezy summer days!
This cardigan features an adorable mix of granny squares including sunny motifs, white clouds, some hearts, and rainbows, alongside classic solid squares. While solid squares are well known, some other squares I’ve designed by myself. 😊
Each one adds a pop of joy and color, making this garment as fun as it is cozy. 🌤️❤️🌈
Can’t wait to show you the finished piece!
Stay tuned for the final reveal.
Update 🍂🧶
Right now, I'm actively working on several projects with , and it's truly amazing!
The photo you're seeing? That's the progress of a super cozy, chic cardigan designed for Autumn/Winter 2024. 🍁🌨
And yes, I've received a ton of questions about the yarn I'm using. It's the incredible, squishy, and absolutely stunning Cascata yarn in the serene Niagara shade. Working with it is an absolute dream!

Struggling to get the right gauge?
Tension can be tricky, but the solution might be as simple as changing your hook size.
✔️ If your work is too tight, a larger hook might be the answer.
✔️ If it's too loose, try a smaller hook.
It's a simple but effective way to fix gauge problems and ensure your projects turn out just the way you want.
Do you like granny squares as I do?
You’ll need only 3 things to crochet this summer halter top:
1️⃣ Granny Square Halter Top crochet pattern - https://jollylizard.etsy.com/listing/1529647641
2️⃣ Some cotton yarn (I took Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8)
3️⃣ Evening of time
And voila! By tomorrow, you’ll have a new top
The pattern is beginner-friendly, contains detailed instructions with lots of photos, available for sizes S and M.

Are you Team Inline or Team Tapered? 🧶✨
Ever wondered why some hooks feel just right in your hand, while others seem to fight you every stitch of the way? The secret often lies in the hook's shape: inline or tapered
In my crochet toolkit, you'll find both inline and tapered hooks, each serving its purpose for different projects and techniques. While I appreciate the versatility that comes with using both types, I'm definitely an inline hook girl 😊
There's something about the precision and consistent tension they offer that just resonates with my crocheting style. But hey, that's the beauty of crochet - finding what works best for you.
🧶 Inline Crochet Hooks:
✅ PROS:
+ The uniform shape helps in maintaining an even tension, crucial for projects requiring precision.
+ The deeper throat of inline hooks grips the yarn better, reducing slippage and making it easier to catch and pull through stitches.
+ If you tend to crochet tightly, inline hooks can make it easier to work into stitches without straining your hands.
❌ CONS:
- Beginners might find inline hooks a bit challenging at first due to the necessity of a more precise yarn and hook position.
- The sharper edge of the hook’s throat might split yarn more easily, especially with loosely spun or splitty yarns.
🧶 Tapered Crochet Hooks:
✅ PROS:
- The gradual taper allows for a smoother, quicker stitch, ideal for crocheters looking to speed up their work.
- Works well with a variety of yarn types and is often considered more forgiving than inline hooks, especially for beginners.
- If you have a looser grip, the sleek design of tapered hooks can facilitate easier movement through stitches.
❌ CONS:
- Depending on your crocheting style, you might find it harder to maintain consistent tension due to the hook's sleek design.
- For intricate stitch work requiring precise hook placements, the tapered design might offer less control than an inline hook.
Have you noticed a difference in your projects based on the hook you use?

Trying something new 🌟
This is a sneak peek of the crochet pattern I'm crafting for the contest
I'm working on a geometric tea/hand towel made from the softest Hobbii Bamboo yarn. 🧶
Based on your feedback from one of my reels, I've selected your favorite color combo for this design - pale pink and light gray.
I'm currently trying to find the ideal stitch and border. Although it's still a work in progress, I can already envision the final piece in my mind. 🌈
I have to say, the yarn selection couldn't have been more perfect - it's soft, and the blend of cotton and viscose is just sublime.
Keep an eye out for updates!
Back when I started my crochet journey, I was all about the traditional method - pulling yarn from the outside of the skein.
Picture this: yarn spinning like a top, tangling, rolling away, and just plain annoying. 🧶😤
Then, like discovering a secret passage in a maze, I stumbled upon the center-pull method. Game. Changer. 🌟
Not every yarn skein is designed for this magical trick, though. Some yarn producers haven't caught on to the sheer brilliance of easy center pulls.
That's where yarn winders come in, turning any skein into a center-pull dream. But here's the twist - I don't have a yarn winder and don't wnat to buy another crochet tool. So, I've perfected an easy way to achieve the same effect without one, and I'm sharing that secret with you in my reel.
Sure, sometimes when you pull, you might end up giving 'birth' to a mini yarn ball from within the bigger one. But trust me, even with the occasional surprise yarn baby, it's still way more convenient.
For me, the center-pull method means less mess, less stress, and a smoother crochet experience.
What about you? How do you prefer to work with your yarn?

For some time, I’ve been working on a new pattern: a granny square pillowcase. Tomorrow marks the release of this pattern 🎉
I chose an exceptional yarn from called for this project. And initially, my plan was to craft some earwarmers, but upon seeing and touching this yarn, I decided to create pillowcases instead 💡 And guess what? This yarn is ideal for that! 🤩
Each skein features a variety of colors, and even the thickness of the thread changes, along with a glitter effect - all of which make this yarn perfect for decor projects, in my view 🛋️
I used 3 different colors and achieved 3 distinct styles for the pillows.
While the bright and vibrant mix of Blueberry Mule and Shirley Temple remains my favorite, the pillow from Scandi Tonic is calmer and suitable for cozy interiors, and the pillow from Virgin Margarita will be perfect for a child’s room since it literally looks like candy 🍬
Can’t wait to share this pattern with you all! 🥰
