The Dialogue of Civilizations project views artmaking as a form of critical dialogue that builds bridges within and across diverse communities. The goals of these workshops are for participants to explore how to: actively listen and observe; actively build community; find ways to share our deepest thoughts and feelings with others in a safe environment; and create a safe and creative community among those who feel, think, and look different.

I am very excited to join this seminar to meet new colleagues and learn from them! Dr. McGovern and I will be presenting a session on Drama for Dialogue of Civilizations.
This is very sad, frightening and devastating. One of my good friend and colleague, a theatre artist, activist and educator in Iran, Mehdi Etemad Saeed, was arrested in Iran two months ago, and his family do not know his charges nor where he is.
His wife said on her social media that Iranian authorities do not let her to see her husband or even talk to him on the phone. He has been unheard of for two months!
Her family are uncertain about the specific charges that led to the arrest of Mehdi, as well as the location of his detention. Additionally, it remains puzzling why, even after eight weeks, his colleagues and family are still in the dark about his current status.
Mehdi was arrested in Tehran on June 9, 2023 in the presence of his wife and two-year-old daughter. No official explanation has been given for his detention.
My heart is deeply saddened for Saeed, his wife and their two year-old daughter. No one knows where he is, why he is arrested, and what had happened to him in the last two months.
Inspired by the upcoming arrival of Little Amal in Boston, Lost/Found is a collage of scenes and monologues created through workshops led by A.R.T. Learning Lead Vahdat Yeganeh at The Immigrant Learning Center. Students/artists from around the world created Lost/Found by using theater skills based on body, mind, voice, and imagination to explore the concepts of home and belonging. Join us July 25 and 28 to celebrate the culmination of ten weeks of Dialogue of Civilizations workshops! RSVP → https://amrep.org/lostfound

[Peter Brook] “challenged all of us who make theatre to consider not only how we do it but why.”
Peter Brook: Seeker, Philosopher, Bridge Builder In both his work and his writing, the path-breaking English director challenged all of us who make theatre to consider not only how we do it but why.
“I can take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whilst someone else is watching him, and this is all that is needed for an act of theatre to be engaged."
Peter Brook (March 21, 1925-July 2, 2022)
