Dear members of the Online Religious Studies Academic Journal Reading Group and the Jain and Dharmic Traditions Academic Reading Group,

I trust this message finds you in good health. With mixed emotions, I wish to inform you that the reading groups will be going on a temporary hiatus for an indefinite period. Due to some personal stuff I've been dealing with along with ongoing commitments, I have come to the decision to pause our regular meetings.

This decision was not taken lightly, as I deeply appreciate the value of our collective discussions and scholarly engagements. However, in order to ensure that our discussions continue to be insightful and meaningful, I believe that a hiatus is the most prudent step to take at this juncture.

During this interval, I encourage you to focus on your individual research and studies within the fields of religious studies, Jain studies, yogic studies, and all of the other amazing disciplines you are involved in. I will keep you informed of any developments or decisions regarding the future of the reading group. Be assured that I am committed to resuming our meetings as soon as circumstances allow.

Your understanding and support during this transitional period are greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to reconnecting with you in due course.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to the Online Religious Studies Academic Journal Reading Group and the Jain and Dharmic Traditions Academic Reading Group.

There are some minor changes happening with the Online Religious Studies Academic Journal Reading Group.

When I envisioned this project a few months ago, it was to feel a void for an accessible and online open-access academic journal reading group for people from many disciplines under the religious studies umbrella.

I wasn't even sure if anybody would come, but I felt it was important to show up and hold that space just in case. To my delight, there were a total of 3 attendees for our first meeting and 4 at our second meeting. At both meetings we discussed journal articles with topics connected to the field of Jain studies, which all attendees have had an interest in.

These discussions have been rich and I would like to see this theme continue, but I also recognize that to continue offering readings that are part of a relatively niche sub-category of religious studies would begin to betray the vision of this project, and so I have decided to launch an offshoot project called the Jain and Dharmic Traditions Academic Reading Group. This group will be taking over third Wednesday of the month time-slot this month and the Online Religious Studies Academic Journal Reading Group will be returning in June on a different day and time yet to be determined. Keep an on eye on this page for more details.

In addition to that change, I will also begin using the pages for each of these projects to post links to the articles and registrations for upcoming meetings as well as occasional other updates and links that may be of interest, so stay tuned.
