Sara Curtis Eloy City Council Member
As a resident and a local business owner, I care about Eloy and want to see it thrive.
I attended the launch of the new Nikola Hydrogen Fuel Cell Semi-Truck today. The factory is insanely futuristic with smart ATVs instead of a normal assembly line and all sorts of other fantastic robotics…even one that flips the chassis over during the assembly process. Very interesting new technology both in the trucks themselves and the production process.
Success requires preparation.
This is a photo of me and my teammate, Amy Chmelecki rehearsing before doing a demo jump at the New York State Fair on Women's Day. Or maybe we were having a dance-off? 🤔
With a little training and a little boogie, the jump went according to plan!
Highlight Pro Skydiving Team
I am grateful for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, both as a City Council Member and a professional skydiver.
It's through these connections that we learn from diverse perspectives, ideas, and experiences to create a stronger community. Let's celebrate our differences and work together for a better future!
Got a nice hike in today on the Starr Pass Tucson trails after the AZ League of Cities and towns conference. Beautiful scenery and temperatures!
Imagine being featured in Woman's Day Magazine for doing what you love with one of your best friends!
Amy Chmelecki and I met in 2005 at a skydiving training camp and I joined her in a team in what was at the time, a brand new discipline for our sport, Vertical Formation Skydiving or VFS.
So grateful for 18 years of friendship, teamwork, and watching each other grow!
Great things are never achieved alone. Whether you're swooping with your teammates, or improving the city you love and live in, working together is essential.
I'm grateful to have a dedicated and passionate team by my side whether I'm working with the Council, with Eloy City Staff or with my skydiving teammates. Embrace the power of teamwork!🤝
Working as a team isn't about agreeing on everything, it's about recognizing that our differences are what make us stronger. 💪
I'm proud of the diverse backgrounds and ideas that my colleagues in the Eloy City Council bring to the table. Even though we may not always see eye-to-eye, we know that by working together, we can find creative solutions to the challenges facing our community. And when it's time to vote on important issues, we do so with fairness and respect for one another. That's the power of teamwork, and I'm grateful to be part of such a dedicated and collaborative group of individuals.

This is an awesome video bio of pro skydiver Eliana Rodriguez who lives now in Casa Grande and jumps at Skydive Arizona in the City of Eloy. So many inspirational heroes right here!
Inspiring the future generation!
I love doing Highlight Pro Skydiving Team skydiving demos into new places. Not only does it provide an extra challenge of jumping into a place I don't know, it also allows me to meet and inspire our future generation!
Sadly for the City of Eloy, Georges Reuter is moving Firebird USA, his business, to Florida and will be moving himself and his beagles too. Thus he has resigned from Council effective June 30 and we will need to fill his seat until November 2024. Check out this application for the position and think about if maybe YOU are the person to serve your community and your city! If you think you are then submit an application!
Behind the scenes at Project 19 / Women’s Vertical World Record.
I learned so much on this incredible journey of being one of the lead organizers for the Women's Vertical World Record. The history of the Woman's Suffrage Movement has inspired me to increase my knowledge and awareness of Women's rights globally. We are all responsible to fight for equal rights and equal opportunities to be the change we want to see in the world.
Hello Friends and fellow Eloy residents!
Have you ever wondered why not many restaurants survive or even come to Eloy? Some people cite population as the cause, but Eloy has thousands of visitors passing through for Skydiving and other tourist attractions in the area.
Currently our restaurant and bar tax rate including city, county and state taxes is a prohibitive 12.7%! That's $12.70 on every $100 restaurant bill you have. Pretty outrageous when compared to the rest of the state.
Myself and a couple of other members of Council have proposed that we reduce the restaurant and bar tax in Eloy by 1% this year. I would like to see it go down by at least 2% but we don't want the city services to struggle, so we propose to limit the pain by just doing 1% for starters. This could initially reduce city revenue that goes towards city services by $120,000 in fiscal 2024, but I believe it could ultimately be a wash as Eloy grows and becomes a more attractive city for new restaurant and bar businesses, thus ultimately bringing in new revenue and taxes to fund our city services.
ELOY HAS THE HIGHEST RESTAURANT AND BAR TAX IN THE ENTIRE STATE. The next highest rate is 1.5% lower than ours and our neighbors in Casa Grande are 4.2% lower. See the factual breakdown of the restaurant and bar taxes by city in AZ at https://tourism.az.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Restaurant-Bar-Tax-Rates-January-2022.pdf
Please note that these rates were decreased from this chart in 2023 by 0.5% as the county reduced the tax by this amount. Thanks Dan Snyder for this info.
PLEASE ATTEND THE PUBLIC MEETING at Eloy City Hall at 5pm on May 1st in the Council Chambers and let your thoughts be known as to whether you support this tax reduction or not! All comments are welcome.
On May 1, 2023, the City Council will hold a public hearing starting at 5 pm to consider lowering the Restaurant and Bar Tax.
The original publication was to start at 6 pm but has been moved to 5 pm. The public hearing will be held in the City Council Chambers at 595 North C Street, Eloy AZ.
Balloon jumps are one of my favorite things to do - especially when it looks like an action shot out of a movie scene!
Thanks to 'theirishmarauder' for the photo 📷 of me filming this awesome jump. 🪂
Stunt double!
Here is a photo of when I stunt doubled for the actor Addie Weyrich in the Call of Duty/ Electric Hummer commercial. I love pushing myself in the movie and commercial industries especially when I get to meet more badass women!
When was the last time you pushed yourself?
The climb might be tough and challenging, but the view is worth it.
Viewing Eloy from above allows me to reflect on how our city has enabled me to grow professionally and as a person. The opportunities the City of Eloy brings are vast and I feel privileged to be able to call this my home.

A team of 115 ladies came to Skydive Arizona to participate in Project 19 / Women’s Vertical World Record in November. This photo captures the spirit of international cooperation, collaboration and true dedication.
During this time, we successfully built 2 World Records to honor the women who came before us to fight for their rights. We must remember that women continue to fight for rights around the world and we must continue to raise awareness for those who still struggle for their basic rights.

The City of Eloy is looking for a new member for the Revitalization Committee. Lady George was a member but as many of us know, sadly she moved! If you want to be part of the thought process to making Eloy a more enjoyable city to live in, consider joining this official municipal committee. Also it is a good chance to learn about how local government works and get involved. Here is a link to what the committee is all about and how to apply:

As we celebrate the New Year, it is time to reflect upon 2022 but look forward to 2023. Every year we have a new chance to grow, challenge ourselves and explore. I am grateful for the life I have created in Eloy. This city allows me grow professionally, personally and inspires me to keep pushing my life in new directions. What will you achieve this year?
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄 ☃️
Merry Christmas Eloy!
It takes a lot of practice to jump before the public at big events. Safety is paramount! This photo was before a practice jump into a stadium in Lake Elsinore, California to make sure that we've got all the elements dialled in before we do it with people in the stands!
Eloy City Council wishing you a Merry Christmas!!!
Governments could learn a lot about international co-operation from our powerful team of ladies who came together from all over the world to set not one, but two world records right here in Eloy!
