πŸ’« NEW BLOG POST! πŸ’«

Most of the questions I get from online CEOs are about which business tools they should be using. It’s common to worry about missing out on the perfect tool or using the wrong tool for your business.

I get it! There are soooo many business tools available to us, and they keep making more. You don’t want to waste time and money on tools… so, how do we choose the right tool?

🧁 Does it fit your budget?
🧁 Does it have the main features you need?
🧁 Do you like how it looks?
🧁 Does it integrate with your other tools?
🧁 Is the business ethical?
🧁 Do they share your values + beliefs?

Another good way to choose tools is to get recommendations from people you trust.

That’s why I’ve put together this blog post for you, which outlines the tools I actually use, not just that I’m an affiliate for.

I’ve also included alternative options for some business tools I’ve used in the past or with clients. Some are affiliates, some aren’t, but they are all tools I’ve tried and love.

Check out the full list (including some tools you've probably never heard of!!) here >> https://theorganizedceo.com/business-tools/

Last week was The Organized CEO's 2nd birthday! πŸ₯³

My baby biz is moving into the toddler years, and I LOVE it πŸ’œ For last year's bday celebration, I released the Business Finance Tracker which quickly became one of my most popular digital products.

This year... I'm launching my first course!! I have big plans for a full suite of courses that will help you DIY your business organization, but this is the foundation. Organize Your Business 101 walks you through the 4-step cycle I created to organize 6 + 7-figure businesses.

AUDIT πŸ‘‰ PLAN πŸ‘‰ PROCESSES πŸ‘‰ SYSTEMS!

When you finish this course, you'll have more clarity and confidence in your biz than ever before! You'll also save a ton of time! ⏰ and money!! πŸ’°

For the first launch of this course, I'm keeping the investment as low as I can so as many CEOs in my current audience can get in and get the info they need to succeed. The goal for my business has always been to help others grow, so that's how I'm celebrating today!

You can get the course for only $35 this month 🀩 The included templates alone used to sell in my store for $85!! Crazy, right? But I really, really, really want to help you avoid 9-5 cubicle life. So let's build up your business!!

❀️ or ❌ those TikTok/Reels/videos of people restocking their fridges, pantries, and bathrooms?

I gotta tell ya... I'm kind of addicted. I find them sooo satisfying πŸ˜‚ Granted, I feel like those people use way too much single-use plastic, and I think they are fake AF, but it's just pleasing to see that level of tidiness (especially when there are 5 kids in my house).

Not sure what videos I'm talking about? Just do a Google search for "restocking videos" and enjoy!

I feel like it'd be fun to do one for my office, but it wouldn't be realistic at all.

Sometimes (okay, most of the time) I'm really hard on myself. I've always been driven and self-motivated. So when I feel like I'm slacking, even if it's because of something like my chronic migraines, I start beating myself up and pushing myself even harder.

Obviously, we all know that just makes things worse.

Anyone else do this to themselves? πŸ–

I just want to leave a little reminder here for me.... You are enough and you do enough. You are kind and courageous. You're a fluffin' badass!

Drop an encouraging note for yourself (and anyone else who reads it) below!

Where do you buy organization supplies?

I've always loved IKEA and Target 🎯 Also Hobby Lobby and The Container Store from time to time.

A friend recently introduced me to the Dollar Store, and I'm a tad bit in love with how much I can get for the $.

And when I lived in Korea my favorite store was Daiso. I'd give a kidney to have one locally!

You don't need to be 100% Marie Kondo to be organized.

Everyone has their own style and personality, so you just need to find the systems that work best for you.

😴 Tired of cranking out constant content for your business? Yeah, me too.

The first step to organizing your content and creating a better system is... simplify.

If you're trying to do.all.the.things, or you feel like you should be doing all the things, then you're likely to get overwhelmed and end up doing nothing Even a super simple plan is better than doing that.

Give yourself a break if you need to. One blog post a week is great, but so is one per month. One social media post per day can boost engagement, but so can one really good post per week. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Start small. Stay consistent. Systematize and automate!

16/09/2021

Have you seen Trello's latest integration?

You can now record Loom video right on your cards!!

Loom is one of my favorite tools, and one of the few that I actually pay for an upgraded account. I am constantly recording videos for clients, customers, friends... it's so much easier to answer questions that way than by typing them out in an email.

06/09/2021

Here's a productivity tip you may not have heard before...

πŸ‘‡

If you give yourself 8 hours to complete your work, it will take you 8 hours. But if you give yourself 4 hours to complete that same amount of work, it will only take you 4 hours.

Think about it this way: You're meeting with friends and have an hour to get ready so you take your time picking an outfit, fixing your hair, doing your make up, and touching up your nails. Or... you accidentally fell asleep and only have 5 minutes to get ready so you throw on the first thing you find, put your hair up, and add a little mascara before rushing out the door. Either way, getting ready took exactly as long as you had. 🀯

Here are two ways you can take action using this knowledge:

1) Use time-blocking to break your days into chunks of time. 2 hours for client work. 1 hour for a lunch break. 2 hours for content creation. 1 hour for group coaching. Whatever you've got going on, break your days into smaller pieces so that you aren't wasting an entire day trying to write a handful of IG captions.

2) Build road blocks into your day. These are specific times that you MUST stop working. For example, you could have a road block from 1pm-2pm everyday so that you can eat a healthy lunch and take the dog for a walk. You can also have a road block when the kids get home from school. And you absolutely need a road block at the end of the day so you don't work yourself into exhaustion.

30/08/2021

πŸ“– Once upon a time, I wasted a year and a half of my life. I was working at a job I hated, depressed without even realizing it, and eating too much fast food and drinking too much beer in an attempt to ignore the mess that was my life.

I honestly spent my days dreaming about becoming a blogger and reading article after article on Pinterest. But did I do anything about it? NO! Ugh. I don't even have a good excuse. I had all the time in the world.

But, I didn't take action.

When I finally pulled myself out of that hole, I decided it was time to make my dreams happen. I took a big, scary job that challenged my tech skills to the max. Then I moved to South Korea for a year which launched me WAY out of my comfort zone. And since then I've started two online businesses!!

Now, I'm here to encourage you to take action for yourself, for your business, and for your audience. Don't waste time the way I did. Get your s**t together and go after those goals!

How many courses do you have floating around unfinished or underutilized? 😣

Before you spend money on more courses, maybe you should get them organized first!

It doesn't take much time or energy, and in fact, it could save you a bunch of money (I almost bought the same course twice, but luckily I started organizing my courses and checked my Trello board first).

For just $5, you can get my Resource Organizer template which will help you keep track of all your favorite resources so that they’ll always be right at your fingertips when you need them!

😫 5 reasons people fail at organizing:

1) They just have too much s**t. Period.

2) They think it's a one-time project.

3) They care too much about making things pretty.

4) They don't believe they're capable of organizing.

5) They make it too complicated.

🧑 Here's the solution:

1) Declutter and let that s**t go!

2) Schedule recurring organizing tasks on your calendar.

3) Function is far more important than pretty.

4) Everyone can be organized, find your style.

5) Just keep it simple and take action!!

12/08/2021

Sometimes we can't put our businesses first. Sometimes we have to make compromises and just let some things go.

I experienced some big transitions in my personal life in July and needed to take a little time off from my business so that I could spend more time with the people I love (cause my people are always my #1 priority).

That meant my SMM was still publishing posts for me, but I had to sacrifice the time I'd usually spend responding to comments, checking DMs, and engaging with your beautiful posts.

It's all about finding the right balance for our mental and physical health. I'm grateful that my business is flexible, and I can shift my focus as needed. I'm still learning how to balance business and life, and it's probably a never ending process since there are so many peaks and valleys for both, but I'm making progress.

How are you balancing your priorities this month?

04/08/2021

When organizing your business:

βœ” DO - start by decluttering. Most people who fail at organizing, fail because they have too much stuff. 🎢 Let it go.... let it go...🎢

❌ DON'T - get stuck in the trap of thinking that you organize something once and you're done for life. Organization is an ongoing task so make sure you add recurring slots on your calendar for decluttering and sorting. Instead of trying to organize ALL THE THINGS at one time, break it down into 15 or 30 minutes chunks.

30/07/2021

Tough love warning! πŸ’™β

You're an intelligent person. I mean, you're running a business (or starting one) so I'm fairly confident that you already know how to delete files, create folders, organize basic information, etc. You also already know how to declutter to make organizing even easier. But you may need to address your mindset around the clutter.

⚑ Why do you keep downloading free resources you rarely use?

⚑ Why do you keep buying courses you never finish?

⚑ Why aren't you tracking your metrics or finances like you should be?

⚑ Why do you let emails pile up and cause you stress?

A lot of these can be answered with "fear."

Fear comes in all shapes and sizes, and no matter how successful you (or those around you) think you are, there will always be a degree of fear. It may be fear of failure, fear of what if, missing out, not knowing enough, making mistakes, being judged... whatever it is, it needs to be identified before you can truly declutter and make progress toward organizing your business.

I can create all kinds of templates to help you get organized, but you have to do the work of clearing out the junk and tidying up the rest.

1️⃣ Write down one area of your business that you would consider a mess, stressful, or overwhelming.

2️⃣ Think about, or journal, reasons that this area of your business isn't working as well as it should.

3️⃣ Find 3 solutions that you can implement in the coming weeks to take back control.

Here are a few suggestions for possible solutions:

πŸ“Ž Declutter and organize!

πŸ“Ž Learn more about that aspect of business so you feel more confident

πŸ“Ž Outline and set up a clear system or process to reduce the stress

πŸ“Ž Hire someone to help you (it might be more affordable than you think!)

πŸ“Ž Invest in a tool or program that will make it easier for you to handle

πŸ“Ž Schedule a recurring task on your calendar for better consistency

You may already know that I'm a giant nerd, obsessive organizer, and kindness enthusiast. But maybe you're curious about some of the deeper things so I put together a little Behind-the-Becky slideshow for you!

Swipe to learn more! >>

1) My partner has Vitiligo (makes for an awesome beard!), Aspergers, and 8 kiddos. Yeah... 8. We will never have a normal life, but we're not exactly normal anyway 😜

2) I'm the proud (yet moderately embarrassed) dog-mom to the sassiest of diva hounds... Evey the Tornado.

3) I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in civil engineering then worked for the Department of Transportation for 6 years.

4) Cookies are my greatest weakness, especially double doozies πŸͺ

5) I started spelunking (exploring caves) when I was 6 years old and continued through college. I absolutely love it, but I'm a bit too claustrophobic for it these days.

6) Even though I'm fat, I still love activity. Hiking, indoor climbing, and ice skating are a few of my faves.

7) I was diagnosed with PCOS at 17 and had emergency surgery to remove an o***y at 32. Basically, I ride a hormone rollercoaster 🎒

8 ) In my 30s, I discovered a love for dressing up and going to renaissance faires

9) I'm an artist, writer, and photographer, but I never do them consistently.

Top 10 tips for CEOs:

πŸ“Œ Be you. Don't try to replicate someone else's results. Do what works for you.

πŸ“Œ Be consistent. Whatever you decide to do, just keep showing up and never give up.

πŸ“Œ Be bold. Take chances on yourself and your future. The wins will be worth the losses.

πŸ“Œ Be a seeker of knowledge. Learn something new as often as possible and never stop.

πŸ“Œ Be present. Your business will grow leaps and bounds if you get out there and connect.

πŸ“Œ Be discerning. You have to know whose advice to take and whose advice to ignore.

πŸ“Œ Be a minimalist. Keep things as simple as possible or you'll quickly become overwhelmed.

πŸ“Œ Be generous. When you can, share your time, skills, knowledge, encouragement, and money.

πŸ“Œ Be kind. Always. I know I tell you that every week, but kindness is the greatest gift you can give.

πŸ“Œ Be organized! It'll save you time, make you money, and boost your confidence in yourself!

"I'm just not an organized person."

πŸ‘‰ Not true! This is a mindset you've learned at some point in your life, and you need to stop believing that s**t.

No one is born with an organization gene. Sure, some of us are naturally more tidy and think in different ways, but organization is a skill you LEARN and PRACTICE.

I can assure you that everything in my house is NOT perfectly organized. There are plenty of hot messes in my life. But I've studied minimalism and organization. I've read the books. I've bought the cute stuff at Target and watched the folding videos. I've practiced organization for two decades because it's important to me.

Do you need to go as far as I have? Of course not! This is something I'm passionate about so I enjoy studying it. You just need to try out different systems that work for you and your business.

Some of the templates in my shop might work great for you. But maybe they aren't your cup tea. If you don't like Trello, look for ClickUp templates. If writing SOPs makes you want to drink a margarita at 10am, just make some basic checklists.

You do you! But stop lying to yourself. You can be organized, your way.

I was recently telling some friends about the difference 3 years of action has made in my business, and in me.

Everything used to make me nervous. I constantly felt like an imposter. And there were a billion things I needed to learn immediately.

Now I rarely get nervous, I know I'm not am imposter, and there are only half a billion things I need to learn 🀣

I certainly have bad days. I'll send desperate pleas for encouragement to my biz bestie or eat my way through a giant bowl of homemade popcorn. But...

Continuously taking action really makes a world of difference in your skills, confidence, and in your business overall.
