Growing up, I was blessed with a Father who dedicated his life to allowing my siblings and me to achieve our ultimate potential and to enjoy a better quality of life than my parents. I am also fortunate that Dad provided me with countless lessons that I have been able to take with me into my adult life. Some key ones include that:
(1) Respect is earned (and begins with me), that
(2) Discipline brings abundance and flexibility and that
(3) Persistence and Faith are two chief ingredients for success.
Thank you Dad and on behalf of me, The Germano Family and the Key Sage Wealth Team at Steward Partners, Happy Father’s Day to all Fathers!

Happy Juneteenth from The Germano, Key Sage Wealth and Steward Partners Families to you and yours!
This coming Sunday, June 19th, 2022, marks the second year that Juneteenth has been recognized as a federal holiday. On Monday (June 20th), markets will be closed (as will Steward Partners offices) in observance of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth has been celebrated in many parts of the United States since 1865. It commemorates the announcement of General Order No. 3 by General Gordon Granger of the Union Army, proclaiming freedom of enslaved people in Texas. This was effectively the date that the last peoples freed under the Emancipation Proclamation were made aware of their freedom. The Emancipation Proclamation, issued on January 1, 1863, by President Abraham Lincoln, freed the enslaved people in Texas and all other Southern secessionist states. Enforcement of the proclamation progressed with the advance of Union Troops, hence the final delay in freedom arriving to slaves in Texas until June 19th of 1865.
It should be noted that slavery still existed in the United States after Juneteenth – given that the Emancipation Proclamation covered enslaved peoples living in Confederate States (or parts of these states) in open rebellion against the Union. Slavery in the United States was not ended in its entirety until the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on December 6, 1865.
Celebratory traditions on Juneteenth generally include public readings of the Emancipation Proclamation, singing traditional songs such as “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, and reading of the works of by noted African American writers. Celebrations also include street fairs, cookouts, historical reenactments, and even Miss Juneteenth contests.
