It looks like nobody is attending photography class this evening. That’s it for the eight week course. If you would like to get something printed email it over to me—[email protected] by June 10 and I’ll submit. Have a great summer!

Hi! Is anyone coming to photography class tonight? 2nd the last 3 aren’t making it.

I bought some backgrounds which we used tonight. We practiced settings--F-stop, ISO and shutter speed. Also used a diffuser and props. B&H Camera is a good source to buy the diffusers.

Edits from class today. For all who missed it, it was too cold outside, so we did a setup for food photography and then did some stills of flowers. Tulips are from Brian Campbell's farm.

Here are a few iPhone photos. I also brought and used my big DSLR. Not sure how much better those are though are than these. Landscape photography seems to do very well with the iPhone. Not sure I would bring the big camera again on a trip like this. the phone did just fine. Especially considering that it has to be brought on as a separate piece of luggage and it’s heavy as heck to carry. I’m going to be gone this week and we will resume class the following week with no further interruptions looking forward to seeing everyone.

It looks like the temperatures are dropping out there, so let’s go ahead and cancel class for tonight. Sorry for the late notice on this. It looks like it was not going to get cold until a little bit later.

Today we are going to be discussing color theory and lighting. As far as I know, we should be able to still have our class but if people are planning on not attending, we can postpone it to next week.

This is the photo that I took yesterday. I went back and overlaid the grid because I just don’t think about it either. So I was all the way over to the right. Again, there’s not necessarily a right or wrong to any of it it’s just being aware of where the grid is and where you are placing your subject. You could go over your other pictures and overly the grid just to see what you automatically been doing and after a while you gain more awareness.

I was able to screenshot with the grid lines. I put my tacky hand drawn one on just to show general positioning. I like how the Masonic building looks in this photo and I like the light on it as well. But if you’re focusing on the sign been here are some guidelines for bringing that in based on what we talked about yesterday.
