Brenda Eckel is a retired social worker, having spent 25 years in the adoption field, working with birthparents and adoptive parents. For much of this time she was the executive director of a not for profit agency. Medical and educational sponsorship of children in orphanages in third world countries occupied much of her time. She also trained as a nurse. Professionally, she served as clinical director for a charitable medical clinic for four years.
Writing has been her passion for most of her life. She holds a master’s degree in counseling, and many friends and acquaintances have benefitted from her expertise in this field. She is an avid crafter, enjoying graphic design, cake decorating, and stained glass. Brenda also enjoys traveling internationally and has visited numerous countries in her travels, including 7 trips to China.
Currently she resides in a large city in North Texas. She and her husband, Bruce, have been married for 39 years and are the parents of 4 adult children, two of whom were adopted from China as toddlers. Currently she is working on a novel of the experience and formed relationships from finding her son’s biological parents in China.
On her list of to do’s are to take a Rhine River Cruise and to visit Israel.
I have always loved creative writing. In writing the book, I wanted to share that in any marriage, there are difficult times that make us want to walk away from the relationship. Through commitment and value of the relationship, God can bring us back together, the relationship being stronger than ever. I also wanted for people to realize the devastating effect of a pregnancy loss to a relationship and to the individuals affected. Each person handles this in their own way, some of which is not in a healthy manner. Sometimes well meaning comments such as "you will have other children" only deepens the hurt.

She floundered around for a few years after his death prior to becoming the companion to a feisty and lovely older woman, Aunt Jayne. Jayne’s nephew, Jim, and Allison meet; and their relationship grows into a good friendship.
After Jayne’s death, things change dramatically; and through many trials and devastating experiences, Allison and Jim experience the redemptive power of love.
