"They kept on lying about my schedule of embarkation. They once asked me to go to Manila as I was supposedly about to be deployed for New Zealand only to be told later that the schedule is moved to September. They did the same in November and once more in December. They had me traveling back and forth and I was spending a lot on airfare

"They were also spreading lies, telling people that they paid for my fare and expenses here. None of that is true,"

"If Able Maritime Seafarers Inc and the POEA are unable to provide satisfactory responses to our serious and pressing questions, then we in the ITF will have no choice but to formally red list this manning agency and issue a worldwide alert through our networks warning seafarers of the potential dangers of engaging with this company," Steve Trowsdale, ITF Inspectorate Coordinator, said on their website.
The ITF is likewise asking POEA officials to explain how it decided to reinstate Able Maritime just a few weeks after it was suspended.
"Until agencies like Able Maritime Seafarers Inc. step up to their responsibilities, and until regulators like POEA do their job regardless of whether the television cameras are rolling then seafarers will not be safe and respected working abroad," Trowsdale said.
"We should put an end to this. A lot of seafarers have suffered and they cannot continue doing this to us. This is traumatic for us who simply wanted to work," Restauro said.

Artellect Pte. Ltd. (https://buff.ly/3wdO0Oy) is openly running astray of the laws and regulations in Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Poland, Taiwan, Philippines, and other jurisdictions by:

Charging excessive agency fees, including prohibited placement fees - these fees are extremely abusive and have been documented to be in violation of Hong Kong and Singapore maximum agency fee provisions;
Recruiting Filipinos, in the Philippines, through unofficial student-work schemes;
Failing to appropriately address OEC concerns and questions resulting in many job-seekers getting stuck overseas because if they go home without an OEC they can not return to the job-site;
Violating international and bi-lateral conventions that prohibit job-seekers from being charged fees;
Utilising unprofessional and usually unlicensed representatives to recruit job-seekers in jurisdictions such as Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan, South Korea, and UAE.
Based on the illicit behavior of Artellect Pte. Ltd., it is warranted that:

Artellect Pte. Ltd's Singapore agency license be suspended or cancelled until a thorough investigation can be completed and the concerned be judged by an appropriate court;
Consulates and Embassies of Poland should take appropriate steps to prevent illicit employment agencies from overcharging workers and investigate cases of exploitation, unlicensed agency operation, and human trafficking;
Authorities in Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan, South Korea, and UAE should take prompt action to arrest individual representatives who are acting as employment agents of Artellect Pte. Ltd. despite not having a license to do so.

URGENT WARNING:

For anyone considering applying: DO NOT APPLY DO ANGELEX.

Multiple government officials have already started the process to REVOKE their license and prosecute illicit recruiters!

If you pay ANGELEX any money or were forced to pay a training center fee for ANGELX, please let us know.

YOU CAN FILE FOR A REFUND!

Thank you!

Press Release
For reference: Dolores Balladares Pelaez
Chairperson
United Filipinos in Hong Kong
Contact No: 852-97472986
UNIFIL condemns agencies’ harassment of OFWs in illegal collection claims; Also urges POLO to protect their rights.

Hundreds of migrants from all over Hong Kong have been going to the Philippine Consulate on their days off to file claims for the training fees collected by recruitment agencies. This has been going on for weeks, and more are expected. The agencies have responded heavy-handedly, using scare tactics against these migrants.
Some migrants have reported that the agencies have been calling them up to set a meeting before the conciliation schedule, undoubtedly to settle before it. Others reported that these shameless agencies kept calling their employers to pressure them to terminate their workers. Other heavy-handed tactics include threatening the workers, saying that the workers have signed a document that indicates the workers will not file cases against them, that they didn’t pay anything, worse they intimidate the workers by saying that they will be blacklisted. They used appeal to emotion as well. Some agencies claimed that if not for them, these workers will not be able to come here to work.

These methods show that these agencies have no interest in being fair. They do not have our best interest at heart. In fact, they want to undermine the process so that they can keep their loot. If they truly think they are correct in collecting these fees, why threaten OFWs? One will soon realize that recruitment agencies prey on our desperation to provide for our families, and think that we can do nothing. But this is not true.

We urge the Philippine Overseas Labour Office to call the attention of these agencies. POLO must reprimand these agencies for taking advantage of Filipino workers who merely want to provide enough food on their table. It is high time that agencies learn that their vulture-like ways have repercussions. POLO should also speed up the process of these claims, since agencies have no right to collect such in the first place. This is also hard-earned money that could have gone to an OFW's basic needs.

We also appeal to POLO to accommodate workers who want to file on their days off that fall on Friday and Saturday. POLO is closed during those days, but we demand POLO to adjust, as it will create more problems for workers if they push to move their days off to other days. Opening extra hours just for two days should not hurt, especially if upholding workers' rights is at stake.

We must band together to amplify our voices. In unity, there is strength. In organizing, there is victory. In struggling together, there is justice. # # #

Diokno says easing bank secrecy not a must to exit FATF ‘gray list’ - BusinessWorld 08/07/2021

https://buff.ly/3dAC6Ic

EGISLATION to weaken the bank secrecy law would be “welcome” though such an easing is not among the key milestones expected by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin E. Diokno said, noting that effective implementation of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) measures are of a higher priority.

“The Philippines has addressed technical deficiencies, that is adequate AML/CTF laws such as Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) of 2020 and Republic Act 11521 which further amends the Anti-Money Laundering Act. They are already in place. Thus, there are no other legislative measures expected as Congress has already delivered what was required of them,” Mr. Diokno, who is also the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) chairman, said in an online briefing Thursday.
