If you know any men, PLEASE read.
(Yes, it is a long post, but it could save a life).
Prostate cancer is one of the ONLY cancers that has a “check engine light”; the PSA (prostate-specific antigen), which requires ONLY a simple blood test.
(Personal note: Mike was diagnosed in August with stage IV metastatic prostate cancer. In 8 short months, his PSA rose from 2, to 27, and when it was caught had already spread throughout his skeletal system. We are told there is no cure, only remission. Mike will tell you he would not wish chemo on his worst enemy. While this may seem like a very personal journey, we share it because we hope to spare another man/family the agony of fighting a cancer that if caught early can be easily treated. I am so very proud of the fight he is putting up to conquer the beast within. The picture celebrates getting through the first 6 months of treatment, chemo every 21 days/ 6 times).
Have you asked the men in your life to have their blood checked? If you are a man, have you had your PSA checked? Every year after the age of 40, (unless there is pc in your family). JUST DO IT!
Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for both men and women in the US. Breast cancer is #2 for women, and prostate cancer #2 for men. October is breast cancer awareness month, we see pink everywhere, as we should, to raise awareness of this deadly disease.
Did you know September is prostate cancer awareness month? If you are like me, probably not; the blue ribbon which denotes prostate cancer is not even remotely as well emphasized.
Therefore, this is the your PSA for PSA.
(Public service announcement for prostate-specific antigen).
General prostate cancer facts for the U.S.
• 288,300 new cases of prostate cancer are expected to be diagnosed in 2023
• A man is diagnosed with prostate cancer every 2 minutes
• 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime
• Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men
• 34,700 men are expected to die from prostate cancer in 2023
• A man dies from prostate cancer every 15 minutes
• Today, there are more than 3.1 million prostate cancer survivors
• The relative 5-year survival rate for prostate cancer diagnosed in its earliest stages is nearly 100%
• The 5-year survival rate for advanced or metastatic prostate cancer drops to 32%
Although only about 1 in 456 men under age 50 will be diagnosed, the rate shoots up to 1 in 54 for ages 50 to 59, 1 in 19 for ages 60 to 69, and 1 in 11 for men 70 and older. Nearly 60% of all prostate cancers are diagnosed in men over the age of 65. Prostate cancer is diagnosed with a biopsy.
A blood test called a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test measures the level of PSA in the blood. PSA is a substance made by the prostate. The levels of PSA in the blood can be higher in men who have prostate cancer. The PSA level may also be elevated in other conditions that affect the prostate.

Side note: No matter the age, next time blood work is completed, ask for a PSA, insist on it, young men are being diagnosed as well. Get a baseline and a test every year. It’s easy and could save a life and/or the agony of the fight.

Just finished this matching “It’s’ A Jeep Thing” passenger side grab handle tote and trash (or, duck) bag.
(Additional pictures are informational).
Other sets with different fabrics are cut and ready to be sewn.
The trash bag has an adjustable handle (please see photo). I put 8” of soft Velcro on the handle so you can decide where and how long to hang it. It is lined with rip-stop nylon making it is water resistant.
Grab handle tote is an original design; has 4 pockets and Velcros around the handle on the passenger side. It is a great place to put your phone, glasses, etc.
Each item is $35 including shipping with tracking. (I ship USPS and message you a copy of the receipt). Purchase 2 items and receive $5 off the set.
Please visit my FB for pictures of more fabrics and items I sew.
I have many fabric choices available. PM me if you have questions or are interested. Thank you! Happy wheelin’!
