I am a great advocate for inner wisdom. Knowing that your body is always guiding you, giving you the clues for this moment in time.

I’ve taken myself away the last couple of days to BE with a friend and rejuvenate.

I carry my cards with me all the time and ”I JUST NOTICE”. That the emotions that roll through my body come in waves, just like the ocean. Sometimes I’m rolling at the top of the crest, other times …. Not.

All sensations, feelings and needs valid. All safe to be seen and witnessed. For me the importance lies in ensuring that I bring them to the conscious rather than reacting to their unconscious pull and projecting on to others.

I have always loved non-violent communication and these cards from Inner Nature Cards take my understanding to the next level.

Our August 'learning lab' on how to use Inner Nature Cards was practical and powerful.

We had a fabulous, interactive group and it was a great day of bring curious about our own inner experience as well as learning to support others. We get such wonderful feedback from teachers, counsellors, therapists, and coaches about useful these cards have been for them and for their clients. Being able to externalise (i.e. look at and hold in our hand) our body sensations, feelings, and needs really does support an easier way of being with things that are hard, and also acknowledging the things in our lives that are good.

JUST NOTiCING

Back in May, I experienced these cards from a friend in Thames. She had been gifted these cards from Anna and as I went to visit she brought these cards out to show me.

It was the first time I had taken my friend Karen to meet her. So as Karen and my friend talked, she said why didn't I play with the cards.

Well I wasn’t expecting these cards to be such a passageway to my soul. I wasn’t expecting the message I received in that moment about my burning NEEDS, was that my job wasn’t aligned with my current needs. How dull my soul had become and that I had such a NEED to belong, have harmony and integrity for myself. That I made the decision that for ME, and my authenticity I needed to leave my job and find my unique path.

I handed in my notice 3 days later.

Now don’t get me wrong I didn't not LOVE the people I was weaving with, or wasn’t grateful for the healing space they had gifted me for a year. But I realised that day I needed to get out of my comfort zone and become uncomfortable with the unknown journey of my growth. To continue moving forward.

After that day I couldn’t stop thinking about how powerful these cards were and didn’t rest until I bought my own set. Which I use frequently to get in touch with my TRUTH.

Fast forward to today and a trip down to Wellington to catch up with Kimberley Crisp - Professional Development. Who I had shown the cards too and who had also seen the power in them.

Today we engaged in our first course together, where neither of us were facilitating but instead learning side by side as friends. Being vulnerable to witness each others truths. How healing that was.

One of the most powerful courses I have been on in awhile with Inner Nature Cards.

"While sensations and feelings are continually changing, needs are constant. We can rely upon them to anchor us. They offer us clarity and help us find our 'ground' .... "

One of the intentions built into the design of these cards is beauty. We wanted everything about them to be compelling and resourcing. The weight of the card, the feel of it in your hand, the visual imagery featured on both sides.

And yet, the most important thing to us was that this resource is USEFUL. Each deck comes with a simple and uber accessible 'Practice Guide' to get you started.

In the spirit of usefulness, we wanted these cards to support looking at and working with the most fundamental aspect of our inner experience - the physical SENSATIONS we feel in our body - which is often the aspect we find most intolerable or most enjoyable. For some of us, for all sorts of reasons, sensation can overwhelm us or alternatively elude us altogether.

We can begin the process of reclaiming our sensory awareness slowly and with care, by noticing and tracking sensations when they arise. Here's a very small excerpt from our practice guide's section on SENSATION and a basic practice to get you started ....

NOTE: The last bullet point invites you to write or draw any reflections but another way you could explore what you notice is to move it or move with it. Move in a way that expresses or 'shows' what that sensation is like, or notice if the sensation prompts a desire to move in any particular way. What would it be like to follow that impulse, even just a little bit?

The other day I did a session with a client over zoom using the cards. I didn't think it could work - but as my client laid down the sensation cards, choosing what was alive for him in that moment, I supported him in silence. He turned the camera to face the cards he was choosing.

I was moved witnessing him companion his sensations with such reverence. A man who labels himself 'stuck in his head'.

I'm excited for our upcoming 1 day lab in Wellington (27 August). The more I work with the Inner Nature Cards the more I am in awe at their beauty, simplicity and power. Over and over I'm amazed by the different ways the cards can support people to discover new strategies to live richer lives.
