We're excited to share the launch of Newmarket Korean Discerning Community! This group was launched out of a desire to shine Christ's light to all people, committing to actively serving their community's spiritual and practical needs.

With a growing number of young professionals and families recently settling in Newmarket, there is a need for a Korean church that can uniquely support and engage this demographic. This discerning community's vision extends to uplifting other minority groups in the area, embodying their mission as a visible beacon of Christ's love and care for all.

We're excited to announce the launch of Fire Valley New Venture, an initiative in partnership with Arrow Lakes Alliance Church. Situated in the West Kootenay Region, Fire Valley’s vision is to see a thriving Christian community bringing the word of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ to the communities of Fauquier, Burton, Needles and Edgewood.

The journey began with a season of prayer following the closure of the area's only church in 2018. Fast forward to September 17, 2023, when they celebrated their first service at the Fauquier Community Center. Since then, they’ve been gathering every third Sunday for worship and every other Sunday for Bible study, growing together in faith and friendship.

Narratus New Venture, located in Richmond Hill, ON, exists to provide space for spiritual growth, care and healing for the younger generation of Cantonese speakers in the York Region of Ontario. Their goal remains simple: To bless the neighbourhood, however they can.

NEW APPRENTICE | This week, we are excited to introduce Ekaterina (Katie) Vasileva, a passionate advocate for missions and community service, both locally and globally.

Katie has dedicated herself to various ministries, including TAC ministry for the street-involved, 360 Kids, SET FREE ministry, summer camp initiatives, and engaging with children during a mission trip in Peru. Now, as a New Ventures apprentice, Katie is in a season of discernment, seeking God's direction for her future.

During the initial six months of her apprenticeship, Katie will immerse herself in learning, intentional growth, and mentorship. She aims to discern whether God is guiding her towards international missions or local community service. We’re so excited to introduce The Journey, formerly Dundas New Venture, led by Darin Martin. This change comes with a new name and a lead partner, Wellspring Church in Burlington, while maintaining close ties with Grace Valley, Mountainside Church, and the Central District. Since its inception as a Discerning Community in November 2021, The Journey has experienced significant growth, a testament to God's faithfulness as they seek clarity in their mission.

Reflecting on their partnerships, Darin expressed excitement about walking alongside other Christian communities and the possibilities with Wellspring. Their new name embodies their vision of following Jesus into Dundas by practicing presence, building relationships, and actively listening to the Spirit.

Durham Spanish first started their journey as a Discerning Community in January 2024 with a clear vision of building relationships and connecting with the Spanish-speaking community east of Toronto. 🌟

Over the past four months, they've grown, and their prayers for a gathering space and a robust leadership team have been answered. We're grateful for God's faithfulness!

Now, we celebrate their official launch as a New Venture in the ECD, partnering with Primera Iglesia Alianza Hispana (PIAH).

Join us in celebrating the growth within New Life Alliance Surrey, a Filipino gathering in Surrey, BC in the Canadian Pacific District - C&MA! Led by Ben Pantoja and Cres Casimong, the group has been seeing and supporting the growth of their Spanish speaking congregants in their services by offering translation as well as Alpha studies in Spanish.

Ben reflects, “The Lord has been steadily adding to our numbers--we have been translating our Sunday's messages to Spanish! We have an average of 10-12 people from Mexico, Chile and Columbia. We have been preparing our full manuscript messages by Friday, so that our translators can be prepared by Saturday and ready by Sunday afternoon. Fast forward two months after--the Lord provided us a translator who is capable to listen and translate even without our full manuscript! We immediately responded to the Holy Spirit's obvious movement in our midst-- Alpha Spanish is now in its 3rd class (happening weekly!)."

Whether or not this becomes an official LIGHTS group, we will encourage and coach them as they build this group - just as our vision states. "Our mission is to empower people to multiply gatherings that love and follow Jesus - the LIGHT of the world".

As Brant and his wife, Susan, lead Church @ the Table, they’ve been convicted to invest in discipleship for this community of people. God has been inviting them to continue aligning with this New Venture’s hope of being prayer-fuelled, Christ-exalting, Spirit-empowered, Great Commission-focused, and committed to discipleship.

Meet Estefanía Piedrahita, a New Ventures Apprentice in Toronto, ON 👋

As a New Ventures apprentice, Estefanía Piedrahita is stepping into a leadership role at La Casa de Misericordia in Toronto, serving in children’s ministry, as well as giving leadership to the Eastern Canadian District Children's Network.

Over the last couple of years, Newmarket Alliance Church Espanñol (NACE) and La Casa de Misericordia have seen rapid growth in attendees. To meet this growing need, Estafanía will help create and nurture new leaders to help within children’s ministry. She will organize meaningful children’s ministry events, develop engaging curriculum and activities, and actively participate in teaching sessions.

This week, we’re excited to introduce South Shore Agape Discerning Community! 👋

Recognizing the growing Chinese community in the metropolitan Montreal area, Lisa Bai, a member of South Shore Emmanuel Alliance Church and Montreal Zion Alliance Church began gathering regularly with a group of people in her home for a meal and Bible Study.

As the group grew, they’ve been blessed by God’s presence and guidance through this process of meeting and learning together. The group has now launched as South Shore Agape Discerning Community to continue exploring where God might be leading them.
