Stacie Orman Baumann Thank YOU! Great job Klondikes Leather
Last weekend wrapped up the 2023-2024 Iowa High School Rodeo Association year. Each year since losing Dalton I present some awards away in his memory.
In 2007, I had a rope can fixed up with a custom leather piece for Dalton Hunter's 16th birthday. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to gift it to him as he was called 'Home' 13 days before his birthday. I awarded the rope can mid June that year so that I could get it out of the house because it just hurt my heart at that time to be tripping over it. Then was asked if I would award one each year in the future.
It was my honor to present Cort Jones with Dalton Hunter Baumann Memorial Character Rope Can this year. Cort is the 17th rope can recipient. All of the awards in Dalton's memory are based on things that have nothing to do with how well that person did, but how they handled it no matter which way it went. Criteria that is based on how Dalton Hunter truly was.
Cort exhibits leadership qualities that are quiet yet speak volumes at the same time. He is kind and intelligent. Cort has a sense of humor. Offers encouragement. His horsemanship skills are stellar. Cort has work ethic and he treats his horses, livestock and all those around him with respect.
This year with the help of Matthew Harris with Klondikes Leather ; Cort recieved a custom rope can made with all the special feels in Dalton's memory.
