Bronson Welcomes Community Donations of Unused Personal Protective Equipment, Supplies and Homemade Masks - Bronson Healthcare Due to the critical shortage of PPE and disinfecting supplies nationwide, Bronson is turning to the community for donations of specific new/unused items and home-sewn face masks.

For Mercy Hospital in Grand Rapids they are now accepting masks. I am waiting to hear back if they have specific requirements.

Both Bronson and McLaren Hospitals are in need. They also
have mask requirements. I will keep you posted.

Since Michigan is shutting down, I made arrangement for the mask to be donated to the Health Department of Grand Rapids. Address below. For now they are going to stay open.

So I have reached out to the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. I can not reach them to become drop off centers. In Michigan everything is going to shut down at 11 tonight. I encourage those that can sew to keep at it. We will find away to get them to the hospitals

Walmart may have fabric as States start to close down.

I am working on a webpage for Facebook. I am looking for community support in my efforts to help nurses gain the protection that they need to stay healthy during their battle against COVID 19. The CDC is recommending that health care professionals use bandanas and scarfs. Let's work together to give them more dignity. It is my hope that as a community, we can work together to help create reliable personal protective equipment in time where there is a great need.

I’ve seen many healthcare facilities asking the public to sew CDC-compliant face masks for staff..following CDC protocols, that if all other supplies are not available, handmade masks, that meet certain criteria, are acceptable.

While handmade face masks are often used for protection against dust and other allergens, they can also block the respiratory droplets of coughing or sneezing patients -the principle way the virus is spread. A Cambridge University study showed that 2-layer (100% cotton) masks are effective in capturing 71% of virus particles.

Many nurses are also wearing these overtop of their disposable masks, to extend the use of their medical masks, which are in such short supply. (Washable masks can be sanitized and worn again and again)

If you, (or a loved one) is a first responder, I’d like to donate a washable mask to you (free of charge).
I also believe we should save what little medical grade masks are left for the folks on the front lines. If you agree, but would still like a level of protection, I’m offering CDC-compliant handmade masks for $3 each.
