👋 everyone..Here’s my take.. I think everyone needs to make the best decision they can make for the long term. We cannot control the decisions that others make. When this passes and it will.. we will all look back and hopefully be proud of the decisions we made during an unprecedented pandemic. There are potential liabilities associated with giving nonprofessionals professional haircolor. But it would be crazy for me to assume that some stylits won’t be willing to take that risk. This decision is basically made based on their own individual situation.. do you have money in the bank..do you have a sick relative or family member.. do you have a supportive team.. did you qualify for unemployment.. is your landlord understanding.. ect... it’s easy to judge others to make us feel better about a decision we made.. It’s also easy to think short term and do what’s best for now.. I understand that if you choose not to sell color and the salon next store is.. that that can be extremely frustrating! But taking all this into consideration the hard thing to do is to focus on your OWN business and be supportive of the decisions of other professionals who may be worse off.. the real problem isn’t COVID-19 necessarily.. it is that most salons/stylists operate week to week.. the money has never stopped before.. now it has and those businesses cannot operate moving forward. This is what our industry should be focused on right now.. how to get stronger.. how to run our businesses more like CPA’s and less like stylists. I understand color take home kits are a short term solution that brings in necessary income.. but that is still living under the week to week scenario most of us have been in forever. For the record.. we are not selling color take home kits at CARU.. I’m proud of that decision but I’m also supportive of the people doing what’s best for them right now. I think the best qualities we as stylits possess is empathy and compassion .. if we show this everyday to complete strangers.. we should definitely show this quality to all of our fellow beauty professionals out there who may be struggling to survive. There are loans out there.. there is help. We can all be better off after this if we think long term and reinvent our businesses. Sadly, there will be salons that won’t be open after this. But that also means there will be stylits looking for new salons to work in.. and there will always be guests to fill our chairs no matter what happens moving forward! How we conduct ourselves through all this right now will play a huge roll on what our business will look like post COVID-19.. let’s all be understanding, supportive. And most importantly STAY HOME..STAY SAFE!! The longer we all stay home.. the quicker we will all get back to normal. ❤️ & ✊ to all!!
🇨🇦 When we were filming Style Trip Montreal I could have never imagined our beautiful industry coming to such a screeching halt.. Covid-19 has taken away the one thing we all depended on most... the physical act of touch.
I like all of you.. am missing my clients, missing my paycheck and missing having my hands in hair. That is why I believe now more then ever we all could use a bit of inspiration. What I learned in this episode of style trip is all about appreciation.. from the canvas we work on all the down to the environment we work in.. I am now more then ever grateful. I know we will all be back at it soon and enough.. till then hang in there.. sit back.. relax & take a trip with us to beautiful Montreal Canada 🇨🇦 .BOUDOIR .CHTG .ART
