Cleaning Your Lids in 2 Ways!

We've heard that becoming the boss of your lids can be a little tough for some of our customers in the beginning but we've got some helpful tips for you on this post on how to clean your lids and how to give them a better life once they're out of the packaging.

Tip 1.

When unpacking your lids you can place them in a bath of warm water with mild soap and rinse them off in clean warm water.

To dry them, hang them to dry in your laundry or leave them to air dry on your dish rack ready to be used when you have dishes to cover, if still a little wet, use a towel to pat them dry before you cover your foods.

Tip 2.

Dishwashing tip:

You may place your lids in the dishwasher, our original silicone lids are heat resistant up to 230 degrees celsius or 446 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once cleaned we do advise to bring the lids out of the dishwasher and hang them dry or pat them dry to remove excess water with a clean drying cloth.

If you're a little geeky you might love this info!

This is a frequent question we get and today we'd like to share with you the answer:

Silicone is non-toxic for people, our planet and our oceans!

When it comes to our environment and protecting from pollutant materials we normally use on a daily basis such as the plastic wraps we use in the kitchen, silicone being made of minerals is highly durable and more ocean friendly than plastic.

Hearty Casserole Lamb 🥘 in Red Wine Sauce!

We made this over the weekend and thought we couldn’t leave you out without the recipe! An indulgence hard to pass any day of the week 😉 Just remember all left overs can be covered up right from your plate with our lids for extra freshness.

Here’s the recipe for you 💜 Serves 2

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 lamb shanks
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 carrots, roughly chopped
1 cup of peas (can be frozen)
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 cloves of garlic, chopped finely
3 sprigs of rosemary
500ml full-bodied red wine
Salt and pepper
Mashed potato, to serve

Method

Pat the lamb shanks dry and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a heavy based pot over high heat.

Sear the lamb shanks in 2 batches until brown all over, about 5 minutes.

Remove lamb onto a plate and drain excess fat (if any) from the pot.

Turn the heat down to medium low. Heat remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil in the same pot, if needed.

Add the onion and garlic, cook for 2 minutes.
Add carrot 🥕

Cook for 5 minutes until onion is translucent and sweet.

Add the red wine, tomato paste. Stir all to combine.

Place the lamb shanks into the pot, squeezing them in to fit so they are mostly submerged.

Turn stove up, bring to a simmer. Once simmering bring the heat to medium low.

Set the clock for two hours.

Turning them over once per hour. Check to ensure lamb meat is ultra tender (use 2 forks) - if not, cover and keep cooking.

Ideal is tender meat but still just holding onto bone.

Taste then add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the lamb shanks on mashed potato or cauliflower puree with plenty of sauce! Add side of warm peas to the plate. Garnish with thyme or rosemary leaves if desired. Enjoy!

Tonight’s recipe is the famous and delicious Macaroni Mince kid’s absolutely love to eat! And remember the best way to keep your left over meals fresh is in the bowl 🍲 and with one of our lids over it.

Macaroni Mince

Ingredients
* 750 g beef mince
* 420 g can condensed tomato
* soup
* 40 g French onion instant soup
* 2 cup macaroni uncooked
* 2 cup water
* 1 tsp mixed herbs *to taste

Method
* Brown mince in large pot.
* Add the soup mix.
* Add tomato soup. Stir.
* Add the water and macaroni. Stir.
* Add in mixed herbs to taste.
* Let the mix come up to the boil,
* stirring occasionally.
* Reduce to a low simmer, cover,
* and cook for 15-20 minutes
* stirring occasionally.
