Find me at Hylabrook Antique Mall in Murfreesboro, Tn or purchase my items online at etsy.com. My shop name is in honor of my Great Uncle Chester, who died as a young boy in the early 1900s. As children, my siblings and I were enchanted by Chester's childhood trunk, filled with unimaginable treasures. It is my hope that you will discover in Chester's Trunk those antique or vintage items which call your name.

We recently had a visitor to our front porch. These marvelous leather wooden prosthetic legs could tell quite a story if they could talk. They were the first owned by a young man of 21 named Billie J. Daubs from a small town in Illinois. He was a Private First Class Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War. His life changed on May 21, 1951 when he lost both legs to a land mine.
Please read the description by his grandson---these were " my grandpas---he stepped on a land mine in the war. They were going to leave him, but his superior carried him for miles and miles. These are the first pair he was issued. I remember a story he told me when I was little, he had tricked the neighbor into getting shocked by his own electric fence. My grandpa had grabbed the fence and told him it didn't work, he wouldn t get shocked because he wasn't grounded because of the wood :). I always found that hilarious."
Billy married upon return and had three children. He passed away in Sept. of 1999.
Find these along with their story in Chester's Trunk of Hylabrook Antiques.

Wonderful circa 1900-1901 political/memorial plate with image of President William McKinley. McKinley was shot on September 6, 1901 by 28 year old Leon Czolgosz and the President died on September 14, 1901. Upon hearing of McKinley's death one senator proclaimed--"Now that damned cowboy is in the White House"---speaking of course of Teddy Roosevelt, McKinley's running mate and Vice-President. Find this fabulous item in Chester's Trunk at Hylabrook Antique Mall.
Fabulous circa 1880-1881 political/memorial 8 inch ironstone plate of President James Garfield--possibly my favorite of our U.S. presidents. The attempted assassination of Garfield by Charles Guiteau took place in a train station on July 2, 1881. Garfield survived the shooting, but died on September 19, 1881. Many argue that he was "murdered" by his attending physician, Dr. Willard Bliss. Interestingly, Garfield preached at the East Main Church of Christ on occasion in Murfreesboro, TN during the Civil War. Find this fabulous piece in Chester's Trunk at Hylabrook Antique Mall in Murfreesboro, TN.

Good Morning from Chester's Trunk! Just wanted to share a photo of the wonderful Schoenhut Harpola in its new home in Kansas. For many years, Betsy and her mother have used Schoenhut dolls and photos to tell stirring stories and have even published two children's books. Nearly twelve years ago, a doll story required a harp and they began their quest to obtain the rather rare Harpola. Each time one was discovered, it was either extremely expensive or in great disrepair. With her Harpola finally in hand, Betsy plans to write a story to honor her mother, who is now very ill. So glad that Chester's Trunk could be a part of this touching story.
