Contacted the William & Mary College in Virginia to see if they have more information on Grandpa Leonard Lawrence "Pug" Owens immigrant ancestor, Rev. Goronwy Owen. They messaged me back with various links to go to. This one comes from their Digital Archive. The link below is from "THE VIRGINIA INFORMER" : See page 11. The DIGITAL ARCHIVE link is below.

When you go through the various PDf's of information on Goronwy Owen, you will learn that he and another man named Jacob Rowe lead a riot of the boys of the grammar school against the town apprentices. Witness cited RUM as being the downfall of many a man and the cause of Goronwy's trouble. Goronwy's second Wife, Ann Dawson, the sister of Thomas Dawson who was at that time President of the William & Mary College. Ann was the housekeeper of the College.

Matlock / McCullough Family.... through our McCullough line to our Simonton line connecting with our Gaston line: Margaret Gaston who married Robert Simonton.

Our Gaston line through Margaret is through Hugh Gaston, son of John Gaston (1645 of Melrose, Roxburghshire, Scotlandto - 1714 Ballymena, Antrim, Ireland) & Esther Waugh ( 1650 - Ireland - 1709 County Antrim, Ireland)

Many of us via the McCullough line share DNA with Lawrence Lee Jr., his son Jeffrey Lee and others of this line. They have an ancestorial brick wall through their ancestor Mack K Lee. He has a sister Isabella Nancy McCullough who was born in 1812 in SC and died in TX. She was married to James Newton Mcada. Mack was born 1840 in TX. He is bi-racial. I believe Isabella raised her father's son as her own child. Our wall is here with Isabella. We have no other information on her but DNA has linked Mack and Isabella's descendants making Mack and Isabella siblings.

Because of our Gaston DNA connections I believe it is through John and Esther's son William Gaston m. Mary Olivet Lemon. All their kids migrated to Chester, South Carolina.

We do not know who the father of Isabella or Mack is. I think a slave named F***y is the mother as she was a young slave girl given to Mary White, the daughter of James McClure & Jane Jennett AND granddaughter of James McClure & Mary "The Heroine of the Cherokee" Gaston, daughter of William McClure and Mary Olivet Gaston.

Jeffrey, his Niece and I are working to figure out our connection. Our Gaston line is the connection as I have access to Lawrence Lee Jr's DNA Matches and documented 2 through William Gaston who married Mary Olivet Lemon and the rest through our Simonton/Gaston line.

There is a book called Gaston of Chester. Based chiefly on the notes and records preserved by Judge Arthur Lee Gaston. It is available for sale on Amazon for $14.

I also came across the Internet Archive for the book where you can read the book for free and download it as a PDF to your computer.

If you have taken a DNA test and are able to access your DNA matches, type in LEE for the matches with that surname and click on Lawrence Lee, Jr. or his son Jeffrey if you share DNA with him. If you have other DNA matches with him that you both share which might help us get past our wall via Isabella Nancy McClure, please share the link to the public tree of a dna match or consider allowing me to view your DNA Matches so as to break through this wall.

Much love to all of you

I tried to set this page up with my blog so that when I publish a piece, it is supposed to come to this Genealogy Page. It's not working. So, I will just have to manual post and share until I figure out what I am doing wrong. Each blog will have a PDF link at the end of it so you can download each blog to your computer, print out the information and make your own Heritage Book to pass on to your children.
