Coffee and Jesus

Learning who Jesus is and taking Him into our world.

Warning - long post ๐Ÿ˜Š
With coffee in hand โ˜• I took a walk, through my yard, this morning before online church services. Hoping to feel "Easter" I took photos of the daffodils, blue bonnets, forsythia... blooming, listened to the birds and was thankful for all the new life Spring brings.
At the top of the hill behind my house stands this very old pear tree! When our boys were still young it was hit by lightning one summer. I can still hear the boom of the crack it made when struck. It was sad to think this tree, which stood like a protector, would now die as it split it almost in two.
Each year I am surprised to see how, little by little, this tree has continued to produce new branches, leaves and fruit. It now fully blooms again. I love hearing the woodpecker that makes it's home in it. When the pears fall the deer clean them out each night.
As I'm staring at the gaping hole in the tree trunk trying to figure out how every branch on it has new leaves forming, my mind went to this new ministry I've been called to and how very inadequate I feel to represent Jesus. Who am I to show Him to anyone ?? He knows ALL about me .... my doubts, my failures, my struggles, my inadequacies. Just as I felt as if I couldn't breathe in my mind I heard, "all you have to do is let me work through you". Just like this dead tree, with all it's new life, that provides life for so many others - it's not in the strength of the tree, itself, but in the life that flows through it.
I thought about not sharing this very private moment. But I am reminded that this message is for each of us, not just me. We all have the ability, no matter our lack of bible knowledge, our past, or even our future screw ups... to let the risen Jesus flow through us to give others life. That is the message of the Resurrection for the here and now. The promise of eternal life is the Resurrection message for later. Happy Easter to you all! Thanks for joining me on this adventure! ๐ŸŒบ

There is no mess you can enter into, no mud too thick that God's love can't clean ~ no Lysol wipes needed ๐Ÿ˜‰

In order to fully grasp what Good Friday means we have to first understand how deeply sin is embedded in each of us - we can't will it away, wash it clean by ourselves, do enough good deeds, buy our way out, educate ourselves enough, ... There is NOTHING we can or could have done to remove the sin we are each born with without the cross. Blessed, thankful Good Friday๐Ÿ–ค

Thursday before Easter is known as Maundy Thursday. The word "Maundy" is derived from the Latin word "mandatum" which means "commandment".
This was the day Jesus gave us a new commandment - "Love one another. As I have loved you, so must you love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35.
Thursday before Easter was also the day of the Last Supper where Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, knowing one would deny him and one would betray him. Our practice of Holy Communion was given to us on this day. Jesus also promised us that day, that although He had to return to the Father, He would not leave us alone but would send a helper, the Holy Spirit.
How very important this day is โค๏ธ

A reminder that you are who Jesus says you are -
Partial lyrics to "You Say" by Lauren Daigle ~ give it a listen.

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know,
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don't belong, oh, You say I am Yours
And I believe ....

Amy Grant - Better Than A Hallelujah ( Lyrics)

The world feels different now Tonight know that God hears your sorrows, fears, loneliness & questions as to why. It's ok to cry, it's ok to be truthful. He has really big shoulders. My Pastor, Brett Dinger, said in his message tonight, that turning our faces toward Him is the perfect direction to look when we are hurting.
I heard this song, by Amy Grant, a few years ago and as someone who thought it somehow seemed unfaithful to God to question or cry, it has given me great comfort and a deeper closeness to Him. Guess what ~ He knows anyways ๐Ÿ˜‰ โค๏ธ

Our job is to love others, without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy โค๏ธ
