LOL I just assumed Pride was on the 4th weekend in June this year, and booked it for this week.. In hindsight Pride weekend is supersaturated, and I'm fine with it.

On the eve of the Communion 2024 Season Opener we felt this was a good time to review our event guidelines, and safety protocols…

See You On The Dance Floor:
Dancing is the pinnacle of our experience. Respect the dance floor for the sacred place it is. We encourage movement by allowing space for those in motion to stay in motion. Please keep this in mind as you navigate the crowd. In general, be mindful of the vibe you bring to the dance floors you share with others.

Be Here Now:
Please minimize phone usage on the dance floor, although we don’t ban phones at Communion we still appreciate you staying off them as much as possible. Also please no loud ongoing conversations on the dance floor. Please take both of these to the bar. It kills the vibe, and takes away from the synergy we intend to create. This moment right now is the moment to be focused on.

Photos are allowed, but please be respectful of people who are dancing. They shouldn’t have to stop dancing so you can take a photo.

Zero Tolerance:
At our parties we aim to create a sanctuary from the outside world. We cannot reasonably promise a safe space, but rather a safer space, where people care and there is concern for the well-being of people who attend.
No Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia, or Bigotry of any kind will be tolerated. Verbal, Physical, or otherwise. Violators will be ejected immediately without refund; no questions asked.
Consent must always be asked for, and never assumed. Keep your hands to yourself unless you are asked to put them somewhere else.

We cannot allow violent & aggressive behavior to happen at our events. We will remove you first, and ask questions later.

If you are having a hard time understanding these guidelines then this is not the party for you.

If you have a situation that makes you feel unsafe on the dance floor these friends are here to assist you. DFLs are marked clearly by yellow CREW safety vest.

Liara Kaylee Tsai is a trained crisis counselor from her previous work at The Trevor Project, a trained sexual assault response coordinator and general conflict mediator through her previous work with the U.S Department of Defense, and has over 200 university semester hours in psychology and social work ((though she is not a degree holder or licensed therapist))

She specializes in empathy first, non judgmental trauma informed mediation utilizing transformative and restorative justice practices.

If you need someone to talk to about something that has happened at an Intellephunk event, she is available for crisis counseling, either by speaking to her at an event or utilizing her contact information below.

Please note that crisis counseling is not a promise for any actions on behalf of Intellephunk, but is a space to be heard. If mediation or actions are requested, she can help you initiate that process.

Old Gods Artist Spotlight: ~~ (Tilde Tilde)

Several years ago Jasmine, and I were in Milwaukee Wisconsin for a party some of our friends threw. We were walking down the street when we saw a UFO driving erratically, the space craft pulled up to the curb. Much to our surprise they opened the hatch, and dumped a pile of space junk on the sidewalk. We saw something rustling in the mess, and when we investigated we discovered the cutest alien baby you’ve ever seen. She said my name is Petra, I’ve been watching the 2 of you, and I’ve chosen you as my rave parents. Since then our little alien rave baby has flourished. As one of our resident djs, she represents the Intellephunk version of the neo rave movement. Her music is fast fun, and euphoric.
Our little Alien is all growed up now, and now goes by the name “~~” the closest translation in human words is Tilde Tilde… Please stand by for what comes next!

Spotlight: Night Time @ The Communion Stage
At the Communion Stage, the weekly Minneapolis open air party extends its mission of bringing people together from different facets of the music scene. This stage serves to emphasize the talent and hardwork of various DJs, producers, promoters, and scene leaders from across the United States.

Anchored down by a Void Incubus sound system, it has blossomed into a stage where people proudly support each other, and performers regularly give the main stage some serious competition. Friday night kicks off with NY-fave Lychee, followed by Blank Code's Anthony Jimenez, and finally the Uncoiled Showcase featuring Lonefront and FLAWS.

Saturday night's techno festivities close out with Furtive, fresh off a great new album. The one and only DNB block takes over with Jen Symmetry, Easy Rider, Modest, and Subkillaz.

Sunday closes out the festival with Seattle fave Cory Simpson, LA's rising talent Stephen Disario, and finally...the legendary Gunjack. There are simply too many people to call out. Who are you excited to see?

25 years of stomping it out on sweaty dance floors huddled around giant speaker stacks, long nights with dark purple skies that turned into pink sunrises, friendships that have lasted a lifetime, incredible moments that became indelible memories, and the cathartic experience of sharing the love of techno, and house music together.

It’s kind of surreal.

From a lot of bad decisions, to a few good ideas we’ve learned a lot along the way. We’re just so incredibly grateful to still be here standing, and fortunate enough to have the opportunity to enjoy having this little thing of ours after all these years.

The truth is we can’t tell you a grand story about how we created the Minneapolis techno scene, cuz we didn’t. We just came along at the right time to be inspired by the right people, and we were fortunate enough to be able to contribute to a rich landscape of amazing events that have taken place over the last 25 years. There were many who came before us, and we can only hope that there are many more who come long after we are gone.

Of course this is a celebration of years of hard work, dedication to Minneapolis, this music, our appreciation for the people who made it happen, and the people on the dance floor who made it all worth it, but we don’t want to dwell too much on the past. More than anything, our intention is to celebrate this moment right here, the work that is yet to come, and wonderful folks who make up our scene right now…

The line up we have put together for this night is unapologetically techno, and consists of 3 of the most prolific up and coming stateside underground techno superstars, a late model Detroit/NYC head that we have all grown to love, and of course your hosts.

On April 29th 2023 Intellephunk hope to honor the long standing Minneapolis tradition of wasting away the wee hours of morning dancing in front of piles of subwoofers with all of our friends, and family. We hope you can join us.

Luke has been a long time hero of ours, so this is easily one of the biggest upsets for us in 24 years of promoting. However, we have another amazing replacement to announce! Joining us on Friday night in The Great Beyond will be Techno and Electro legend...

THE ADVENT (Kombination Research) Portugal
Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent has been cranking out futuristic Electro, Techno, and House (as G-Flame) since the 80s. His fast and funky style is both iconic and inimitable, making him a staple in many DJ's record collections. He dropped another killer electro album called "Life Cycles" in 2020, followed by a couple recent Techno EPs on Ben Klock's Klockworks imprint. The bulk of his career-spanning output arrives on his own label, Kombination Research. There's no professional or arty way to say it: his discography is insane and he's a total bad ass. We are extremely grateful to host him at The Great Beyond.
