Checked on our potato today. It’s grown a lot of roots and a big sprout. Girls were very excited. It’s neat to see the roots in the glass.

The kids had a great time with their imaginations in bin land today.
Experiment in corrosion with copper pennies, aluminum foil and water. Let sit for 24 hours and see the marks in the aluminum foil.
Today was for the birds! We opened our Koala Crate on bird life and flew away with fun.
Kids playing happily with items left out for them to use as they please. They made a seahorse and clam on a plate along with boxes decorated for their stuffies.

Some good old basics today. Clay craft time and making Father’s Day cards which required scissor practice.
Making regolith, the outer layer of dust and rock debris on the moon.
Smash chalk in a bag, glitter, add black and white paint and a small amount of water, mix. Then paint your moon on a piece of paper.

How do plants take up water? We watched the process with carnations.
We’re learning about plants over here. This is the concept of transpiration! Plants emit about 97-99% of the water they take in. We left this plastic bag on some leaves for a couple days and kept checking it. First photo is the start and the second is the end.
See how plants have photo cells that seek the light. Plant a potato in a box with a maze and a hole at the end. Watch the potato sprout toward the light in the dark box.

Grateful for nature. We enjoyed watching mama robin teach her two babies how to hunt for insects and worms.
Recycled art or playthings.
One used her butterfly wings and cardboard to stiffen the wings while the other made homes for her small toy animals.
Update on the rock candy....we can see crystals forming.
Tried this experiment today. M&Ms and milk to make a rainbow. As an FYI nerds, Reese’s, and Mentos don’t work.
