Working on a possible final piece for the mirror project! I decided to go with oil on a 20x16 inch canvas. 🍁🍂

Mirror project development-

Using my grandma's hand mirror, I ventured out to look for a different way of recording the autumnal scenes.

Where I work- 🦋

Over the years the spare room in our home has served as a dining room, a bedroom and a general ‘stuff’ room. However, in the last 3 years or so it has been repurposed into a bright creative workspace.

I tend to move things around and rethink my workspace a lot, depending on what project I’m working on.
Most recently I have cleared a space ready for my brand new printing press to arrive! 🤩

Wildflower meadow commissioned piece of Kingsley meadows in Harrogate.

I wanted to explore the rich textures of the flowers throughout the meadow with the main focus on the foreground.

Why I like working in oils- 👩‍🎨

There are lots of reasons why I favour oil paint. You can easily build layers and texture and achieve different results depending on how you apply it.

You can spend your time on a piece without the pressure of it drying too quickly. Unlike acrylic the paint stays true to colour once dry keeping its vibrancy.

I painted this as a gift for my mum of her fluffy Shetland Misty.

I started practicing printmaking in 2014, I have always created my prints by hand.

I recently have placed an order for a new print press and I am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival!

This was a commission piece for a new home to be hung in a kitchen.

I used the reduction print technique to create the block colour and outline.
