COVID-19 ROADMAP OUT OF LOCKDOWN - WHAT IT MEANS FOR ANGLING IN ENGLAND
Although itโs positive that the government have accepted the case that outdoor activities such angling should be first to fully open up it looks like no real change for us until March 29th when restrictions are lifted and outdoor sports can resume. The Stay Home message and travel restrictions remain in place until then with the exception of a provision for outdoor recreation as well as exercise. Since angling has been deemed โpermissible exerciseโ throughout lockdown this is unlikely to affect us. We will know more when the regulations and DCMS guidance are published in the coming days and will update everybody if anything changes. Having a clear date at least means that anglers, clubs and fisheries can plan for the forthcoming season with more certainty and we can all look forward to once again being able to fish our favourite waters in a manner of our choosing whether we are long stay carp anglers, pleasure anglers or match fishing enthusiasts.
Fishing out of lockdown - Angling Trust The Angling Trust has made a detailed submission to Government outlining the case for angling when the latest lockdown restrictions are eased, including the resumption of competition and night fishing, along with fewer travel restrictions. STATEMENT FROM THE ANGLING TRUST ON THE NATIONAL LOCKDOWN RULES IN ENGLAND
The regulations have now been published and confirm this eveningโs message from the Cabinet Office that the Government have taken the decision that fishing will not be permitted during this national lockdown period. Whilst this is disappointing news I would ask anglers, fisheries and clubs to respect these rules and the reason they have been put in place; to help save lives and support the NHS.
Individuals should not go fishing from midnight tonight (5th Jan) and clubs and fisheries should close their waters to anglers. We will be publishing more detailed guidance on specific areas like bailiffing and fishery maintenance once the Government regulations have been examined.
Over past few weeks we have been in communication with the Government at the highest possible level. We have presented a strong case on how fishing could continue safely during the third national lockdown. We have explained that fishing benefits physical health and mental wellbeing and that it is regularly the only form of activity individuals undertake. You can read our representations to Cabinet Ministers here -
https://anglingtrust.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Angling-and-outdoor-recreation-in-COVID-lockdown-3_DCMS.pdf
My team and I have consistently presented the arguments ahead of the changing government guidelines, which have allowed fishing to remain permitted continuously since the first national lockdown was lifted in May. We have been successful when other sports have not as all anglers will know.
However, with 60,000 new infections announced today the Government have taken the decision that leaving home for recreation or leisure, including all forms of recreational fishing, should be prohibited in England during this third national lockdown period.
I thank you for your support and for being a credit to our sport. As members, you can rest assured that the Angling Trust will continue to represent our sport at the highest level and will present proposals for the resumption of angling when it is safe and sensible to do so. We will come through this period of national crisis. We will fish again, but until then, please, stay safe.
Jamie Cook - CEO Angling Trust
Due to the current guidelines regarding covid-19, and most of our Team falling into Tier 4 ๐ฉ The Colmic Bag'em Select Match Team have decided we will not be taking part in any Team events until safe to do so.
Stay safe and hopefully we will all be back on the bank soon ๐ฃ

Bag'em Matchbaits Sweetcorn. It's getting to that time of year when sweetcorn is a brilliant hook bait. Sometimes minimum amount of corn is needed when dobbing on the pole or when bomb, feeder and waggler fishing. Bag'em Matchbaits Sweetcorn comes in 6 different flavours/colours, in resealable tubs ,use what you need ,pop lid back on and save for next time ,no wastage. A must have in your bait bag.
With silver league's fast approaching, the jollys will be out ๐ฃ๐ฃโค๏ธโค๏ธ.

Set up for today
Waggler Rod
Bomb Rod
2 edge rigs
1 mugging rig
1 shallow
2 x short pellet
Decided to start on the waggler, feeding 6mm and fishing 6mm but after an hour and only 1 bite it wasn't right, chucked bomb and pellet over the same line and had 2 quick fish but then nothing, the next hour was spent short and shallow but no fish ๐ฉ๐ฉ, then managed to mug 1, had 20ib on the clicker with an hour an half to go, then they have rocked up down the edge, had a mega last hour on maggot putting 10 fish in the net, ended up with 13 carp for 114ib and winning the match ๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ฃ
