Foods contain nutrients such as vitamins that help maintain or enhance health. Vitamins allow different processes in our bodies to take place adequately like the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and protein. They also provide the energy cells need to function adequately, among many other functions.

Water-soluble vitamins, some of their food sources, some of the conditions they may be used in, and some disorders that may develop if certain nutrients are not being consumed over a period of time.
