We would like to take the time to say thank you to everyone who came out to Moonlight Madness today to support our Christmas baking.

At the beginning of this year, and even a few months ago we weren’t really sure if we were going to carry on our tradition this year or wait to start up again next year but we preservered and made it happen.

And let us tell you, it was so worth it after seeing everyone stop by our table and knowing we can add a little bit of Christmas spirit through our homemade goods!

Fun fact: our butter tart recipe is a family recipe. Grandma Margie Leadbeater passed down her secret recipe to us and each year we love to share the final product with you!

Many people in White River who knew Grandma Margies knew her butter tarts were unlike any other!

Nothing taste better than an after supper coffee or tea paired with our delicious butter tarts! The pastry is sweet and flaky, but the filling is heavenly. Biting into the tart filling will certainly make you want more!

What the heck, it's Christmas! and this year we need to enjoy all we can!

Another secret family recipe of ours that we love to share with you all! Who doesn't love a good shortbread???

It's Linda here with a little history on our shortbreads.

After being welcomed into the Leadbeater/Cottom family I had the wonderful opportunity of being taught our Nana Cottom's famous shortbread recipe. Anyone that new her knew about her shortbreads.

Nana came from England and if there's one thing we know about the English, its their ability to create delicious cookies! Our English Nana taught our family the great tradition of baking Christmas shortbreads. It puts a smile on our face to be able to carry on this tradition and take pride in these cookies.

When biting into our shortbreads, it is made to stick to the roof of your mouth. The texture is light and fluffy. When broken in half you'll see what looks like many layers of deliciousness!

Did you know....

The history of meat pies date back to around 9500 BC?

The greeks used a flower/water past for pie crust to fry or cook under hot coals. The Roman's would use the crust as plate-ware (known as coffins or baskets) to serve the meat filling. The filling was broiled in cauldrons, thrown into the crust and served. The crust was later discarded since it was too tuff to eat.

Eventually the recipe of the meat pie was brought to medieval Europe and developed into pastries.

Fast forward to the 1600s when the pilgrims carried the recipe over to the Americas! America found meat pies to be much more practical as it took less flour and time to make a pie rather than bread.

Hearty meat pies were often made during the Great Depression to feed many hungry families.

The Medieval History of the Christmas Cookie It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when cooks around the country take to their kitchens to bake cookies galore.

Hi everyone! Halloween is over and that means it’s time to switch it into CHRISTMAS MODE!! 🎄☃️

Things might look a little different this year BUT we are happy to announce we will be continuing our Christmas baking tradition!

Although we won’t be able to set up an in-person bake table, we are still looking forward to taking your orders and safely catering to all your Christmas baking needs!
