Rohingya refugee children: UNICEF emergency response in Bangladesh

Definitely worth watching this interesting video from UNICEF about the Rohingya crisis:
https://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/bangladesh_100945.html

unicef.org In the six weeks after violence erupted across Rakhine State on 25 August 2017, more than half a million people – almost equivalent to the population of The Hague or Manchester – poured across the border between Myanmar and Bangladesh.

22/10/2017

The New Yorker

A photojournalist was in Bangladesh this past week documenting the conditions Rohingya are enduring as they flee.

21/10/2017

Hey all!

Hope you all enjoyed RCSI Middle Eastern Students' Association MESA’s Arabian Night last night💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 all the proceeds from the event will be going to aid the Rohingya crises. Read on below to learn some more about it. If you’re not traveling this reading week, do pop by for SU's movie night (head over to the page to pick which movie in the poll). Donations from this event will be going to the Rohingya crisis too.

The Rohingya community is a stateless Muslim minority who have faced discrimination, exclusion, and poverty in Myanmar for decades.

Since August 25, more than half a million Rohingya refugees have fled horrific violence and crossed the border into Bangladesh after the Myanmar army began a campaign of "ethnic cleansing".

Tens of thousands are living in tents and other temporary shelters, in danger of disease, and facing uncertain futures.

Almost 60 per cent of the refugees are children – and 21 per cent of children under five years of age are suffering from malnutrition. Many have become separated from their families or fled on their own. All have suffered tremendous loss.

Up to 12,000 more children join them every week, fleeing violence or hunger in Myanmar, often still traumatized by atrocities they witnessed.

UNICEF is responding to this spiraling emergency but cannot meet the needs of Rohingya children without you. Food, safe water, sanitation, and vaccinations are all needed to protect them from diseases that thrive in emergencies.

Please donate to support them today, every child has the right to be safe and supported. Any donations made on movie night will be going towards providing support to the children of Rohingya 😀
