Krong Baitong! is a research/action project developed by the Urban Lab Cambodia initiative, with fiscal sponsorship from local NGO Open Development Cambodia and financed by the Innovation Fund of the international NGO People In Need. It aims at developing an innovative methodology to create temporary or permanent urban green spaces at neighborhood and metropolitan levels.

Goal :
• One of the methodologies of our research is field observation, in which we do the data collection in the aspect of physicality, quality of shade, trees/vegetation, as well as usage. Therefore, we are looking for an intern to be a part of our team to do the data collection of usage as well as social perception of urban green space in Phnom Penh.
Eligibility :
• Year 3-4 university Students from the field of architecture, urbanism, or related fields
• Being able to commit to the expected working hours, which is 15-20 hours per week which starts from October to November.
• Being able to work on-site for the field observation
• Having an interest in research projects, urban design, and urban green space
• Willing to learn from collecting the data and produce accurate urban green space data
• Be able to circulate in the city (money provided for gasoline)

Introducing Krong Baitong ! a research-action project investigating how to increase and improve Urban Green Spaces (UGS) in Phnom Penh. At this point in time, little research exists on UGS in Phnom Penh: our project aims to fill this gap by focusing particularly on quality and access to existing UGS in the Cambodian Capital, as well as highlighting the opportunities to create new UGS. All the data generated will be eventually available on ’s platform, for use by all.
Krong Baitong is financed by In Need’s Innovation Fund and fiscally sponsored by . The project launched in March and will conclude in December.
