22 FoxTrot
We are a 501(c)(3) organization assisting Veterans in their dark hours. No Veteran should have to battle their demons alone.
We plan to help local Kansas City area Veterans building their community of supporters through local events, while raising awareness for mental health and that 22 Veterans a day lose their battle at home to su***de.
If you’re in the Kansas City area this a great opportunity! Comfort Systems Heating & Cooling has been a great supporter of ours and ran by tremendous people. Maybe you know someone who could benefit from this as well?
Big thank you to the support from Broken Hatchet Brewing. Their beer and hospitality can’t be beat. Highly recommend swinging in and meeting everyone there.
The first hiker has returned. Completing the hike with stops, 6 hours 43 minutes.
Four miles left. Estimation time of arrival is 2:45 to 3:15. Come out and show some support as everyone arrives back to Broken Hatchet Brewing
Nearly six miles in going strong!
We’re off
We are here and registration is open! If you’re hiking please park on the road behind all the stores on Herschel St and Ella St. see you soon!
Want to support our mission but unable, or not wanting to hike 22 miles?
Starting tomorrow at 2:30 we will have a table setup at Broken Hatchet Brewing that will be selling merchandise and able to take donations! We will have a volunteer that can help you with these items, and give updates on the hike. Stick around and welcome the hikers back in to complete their 22 miles!
Days away and we just wanted to give one update. Unfortunately we have to have rules with these hikes being in the public eye.
** No political flags, shirts, hats, anything at all. We will not budge on this. This distracts from the reason we are out doing this hike.
** No open carrying of fi****ms. Again, don’t distract from our reason.
** if you bring your dog PLEASE make sure your dog will do well around others. Also clean up after your dog. Your dog must be on a leash at all times.
** The route includes couple miles of no sidewalk. It’s a road with little traffic, but stay to the side of the road
** At no point do you have to complete this hike. It’s a beast. It’s going to hurt and you’re going to be mentally challenged to continue. If you feel like you can’t go any further for any reason, we will have a fallout vehicle and it will take you back to the start.
** No alcohol allowed on the hike. We have a post event for a reason. Wait until then.
Hydrate.
Easiest part of preparing for the 22 mile hike this Saturday. Hydrate Friday so your body can use it Saturday.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at this years hike!
22 Miles in itself is not a fun time. It’s exhausting, time consuming, mentally draining.
But maybe one Veteran meets someone that helps them stay around for one more fight.
So it doesn’t matter the weather, how many people show up, how older we get. It’s about the chance that we help out one Veteran, person, anyone.
Saturdays weather is looking…. Chilly. We’re still going to step off around 0800, you’re still going to sweat, make sure you’re hydrating during the hike!
We’re officially a week away from our 5th annual 22 for 22 hike! Who’s hiking? Who’s coming out to support at the end? If you see us, give us a honk!
22 miles.
22 long, exhausting, mentally draining miles.
22 miles for 22 Veterans lost daily to su***de.
This is why we bring together as many people together during this event. Bring Veterans from every branch, civilians, anyone. To show you aren’t alone in this battle. That the person to your left and right could be the ones who introduce you to new things to improve your mental health. Come do the hike, part of the hike, welcome the hikers back, or drink a beer at the brewery with everyone afterwards. Just start by showing up and we will show that we care.
Have you marked your calendar yet? The 22 for 22 annual hike is November 12th. And thanks to the wonderful people at Broken Hatchet Brewing we will be hanging out after the hike there. Can’t hike but want to come out? Swing by the brewery and cheer on the hikers as they finish up!

It’s that time of the year again for our 5th anual 22For22, Be on the lookout for details coming soon!
Congrats to Ryan Perez the winner of the Chad Sappenfield Memorial award. Ryan is the son of a Marine, who went on to win the lower division championship at the KC Armed Forces Hockey Classic. The award was presented by Chad’s sister, Sara Sappenfield.
The award is named after Chad Sappenfield who we unfortunately lost to su***de last year. Chad was a very active member of the hockey community, a Kansas City Warrior, an Independece firefighter, and a Veteran. Chad was all about helping and assisting others. We miss you every day Chad.
IF you are struggling with your thoughts and demons, please reach out and ask for help. Ask someone you trust, reach out to us, get in contact with the Su***de Hotline. We all want you here. You matter.
End the stigma. If you are fighting your demons, get help. It’s ok to ask for help. It’s ok to talk about your emotions and feelings. You are not alone.
As of today the su***de hotline is shortening to three easier digits.
If you need assistance it’s out there for you. It’s ok you ask for help. It’s ok to not be ok.
We are honored to be sponsoring this award in memory of Chad Sappenfield. Best of luck to all the teams next weekend. We will post the schedule if you would like to come out and see some Veterans hanging out and playing hockey. There will also be vendors set up on Saturday.
New this year at the KCAFHC - 22 FoxTrot is sponsoring the Sappenfield Award for the Goalie that allows the least amount of goals over the weekend. Thank you 22 FoxTrot!
We are here for each other.
We need you here.
