PAC endorses new mom, Heidi Drauschak. She's a campaign finance reformist*. Heidi agrees with our "Silenced No More Act"; she'll work to expand it to "ensure and are protected not retaliated against, end forced arbitration, and predatory NDAs." *Why does believe campaign finance reform is essential⁉️Due to gender wage gaps, women don’t have the wealth required to run for office; Heidi has plans to help first-time female candidates run and would work to broaden access to others facing barriers to running.

Heidi supports codifying and enshrining the right to an in the Constitution. She tells us, “I will always fight for comprehensive access to reproductive care. We must ensure sufficient and funding for all communities, specifically BIPOC communities and low-income communities, who are most affected by abortion restrictions. We must ensure all communities have access to quality prenatal and postnatal care. All Virginians deserve the same level of care, regardless of their zip code, race, or socio-economic status!”

She also shares, “Hate of all forms – including racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, misogyny, homophobia, ableism, ageism, and xenophobia – has no place in Virginia or our nation. We need to ensure our laws sufficiently hold those who commit hateful acts and speech accountable.” Sounds like Heidi is with us on our ( ) to root out all forms of discrimination in statute and identify gaps in law!

Heidi is also all in for Paid Family and Medical Leave, increasing the minimum wage, and holding corporations accountable for predatory practices. She’ll also go after Virginia’s so-called "Right-to-Work" provisions which despite the misnomer is harmful to workers, benefitting only corporations. She wants to ensure for workers of all identities. Amen, Heidi‼️

She’s for universal Pre-K, and wants to work to ensure we provide universal school breakfast and lunch.

Heidi told us, “From our college campuses to our workplaces, we must ensure perpetrators of and are brought to justice.”

I'm thrilled to have received the endorsement of the Progressive Dems of America Virginia State Chapter. Thank you for recognizing that we need a progressive champion in the NEW SD35 who will fight for an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy and the well-connected!

On this I’m reflecting on how this precious time with my newborn, Atlas, has deepened my drive to fight for every new parent to have access to paid family and medical leave. Everyone should be able to have this precious time together. Our state legislature has stalled on this issue for far too long. It’s time we got it done for the hard-working families of Virginia!

On Wednesday night, we welcomed our son, Atlas Wolf Drauschak, into the world. 🥰 At 8lbs 12 oz he’s healthy and we’re both recovering at home. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! Excited for you all to meet him.

Run for Something’s mission is to recruit and support talented, passionate, young people who will advocate for progressive values for the next 30 years. Over the last 5 years they’ve recruited tens of thousands of candidates all across the country and I’m flattered to be a part of their newest wave of official endorsements. The 35th district is younger, more progressive, and more diverse than it’s ever been and I’m excited to represent it.

Headed out the door to talk to voters and stopped to appreciate all the women who have come before me and shaped a world where I can run for state senate as a 7-month pregnant woman! But there’s still more progress to be made…

Women currently make up 51% of Virginia’s population, but hold only 37 seats in the VA General Assembly (of 140 total). This year, women like me are on the ballot in 74 districts, which means we could overtake the majority in next year’s session. It’s our time and I can’t wait to be part of a more diverse, colorful, vibrant General Assembly next year!

Had a fabulous time speaking with the tonight! Inspired by an even younger generation of advocates fighting for progress here in the Commonwealth!
