ποΈβ€οΈποΈβ€οΈποΈβ€οΈ There was so much pink at Oakwood yesterday! What a great way we showed support for those who have beaten, those who are battling, and/or those we have lost to breast cancer. We had a pair of pink sunglasses in our class that everyone that wanted to have a turn wearing them got a turn and a picture! What great students and families we are lucky to have at Oakwood! π
We had a great week at school! π We learned about pumpkins in Science and wrote and drew about ways people use pumpkins!! Did you know some pumpkins can weigh 2,600 lbs?! π One thing our class learned that was new is that some big pumpkins can be used as boats in boat races!! π£ββοΈ
October is Breast Cancer awareness month, so we thought we would have a day at Oakwood to wear pink! That day is TOMORROW!! Thursday, October 25th!!
We are wearing pink to celebrate those who have beaten breast cancer, support those who are fighting breast cancer and remember those we might have lost to breast cancer. β€οΈπͺποΈποΈποΈ
We had a great lesson today with our school counselor, Mrs. Hansen! She read the book called ShubertΒ΄s Helpful Day and we talked about what things can help us when we are feeling upset. Some students shared that hugging a stuffed animal or squeezing a ball can help them when they are feeling upset. What a great book with a great lesson for our class! ππ
Toy Day! Toy Day in our class was a hit! The students had fun sharing their toys and telling their friends about them during purposeful play time on Friday! π
We read the book Hands Are Not For Hitting this week during Kindness Week! We cut out a hand and wrote and drew kind ways we CAN use our hands! Some ideas were sharing, helping a friend, holding hands, planting gardens, playing games, and many more!π

We practiced saying the letters and words on our linking chart today! We do this often so we become familiar with the letters and the sounds they make. We use this chart as a tool to help us when we are writing and reading!
Book #2: Wild Berries
We read the book Wild Berries and talked about the setting of the book, where it takes place. We talked about where we live and drew some things that are special to Oshkosh, WI to share with our buddy class from New Jersey! Some of our ideas: Menominee Park and Zoo, movie theater, South Park Splash Pad, and many more!
Ms. Jaeger (one of our clinicians) read us a book called Neck and Neck by: Elise Parsley. It was a great book where we got to make predictions about what things might happen next. We shared our ideas and predictions with our peers and got to draw and write about what we thought would happen at the end!
Mix It Up Day!
Mix it up Day! All students K-5 were mixed together today in different groups for morning meeting! What a great way to build school family and connections between students!! Our mission today: Get to know each other and pick a Mix it up Class Family Name!! Our name is the "Fierce Volcanoes"!! ππβ€οΈ What a fun way to start the day!
Ms. Ramey (one of our clinicians) read us a great story today called Jabari Jumps. Jabari is nervous at first to jump off the diving board. At the end of the story, he gets enough courage to jump! We made connections to this story and got to share those with our friends in our class!
It's so important for students to know that you care about them not only as students but that you care about them in all areas of their lives! I love when my students ask me to come to watch them in their activities outside of school! I got to see some of my boys playing football this morning! ππ Have your child let me know about their activities so I can come to watch!
A few more buddy reading pictures! β€οΈπ

Pajama Day! When we fill up our 10-frame with buckets, we earn a class celebration!! We voted and Pajama Day won!! We can fill up our 10-frame by doing what is expected at school, being "bucket fillers" (kind), and being active listeners during learning times! It was a fun day! We did a little morning Yoga in PJs to start our day. π
Cubs vs. Brewers...I was definitely outnumbered today!! Oh well it was a fun day to dress up with co-workers! πβΎ
