What will be our residence look like in a post-Covid19 future?
1. Decluttering of our home is a top priority. What comes close second is to have adequate indoor ventilation.
2. EPA recommends an air exchange rate of 6 times per hour for residential bedroom, living, home office and bathroom. It suggested an exchange rate of 8 times per hour for toilets and 15 times per hour for the kitchen.
3. According to EPA, the indoor environment is 2 to 5 times more toxic than the outdoor environment. Research has shown that 80% of all cancers are attributed to environmental rather than genetic factors, including exposure to carcinogenic chemicals, many of which are found in household cleaning products.
4. To work long hours at home, the incorporation of air well into our living spaces is very necessary. It provides the needed natural ventilation, air exchange and daylight, in particular, to tightly planned terrace residential.
5. We enjoy cooler months over the monsoon periods. Our residential design layout should capitalize on these to create a more comfortable indoor environment to work.
6. We can also orientate the direction of our residentials to capture the cooling effect of the northeasterly winds from November to March and southwesterly winds from late May to September.
What are your thoughts on the design of every-day spaces post-Covid19?
What will our living spaces look like in a post-Covid19 future?
1. Decluttering is the name of the game, and maximising the space to make it multi-functional is just as important. Living room spaces need to be well planned taking into consideration storage as well. Hard flooring would be advised for easy and regular cleaning.
2. Work stations and spaces need to be well ventilated for all the hours being spent there. Having a min-bar would be a luxurious addition to the work space for that quick refreshing snack throughout the day.
3. Individualistic sitting spaces for quiet conversations will potentially be part of the new norm, in opposed to communal and crowded areas.
4. Bedrooms with creative closet will invariably be downsized to create spaces to host other usages.

Pleased to submit my series 3.0 projections for post-Covid19 specs on residential interior living space design for your kind consideration.
The aim is to sustain a clean and comfortable environment for both living and working. The overall air condition system needs to be coupled with mechanical ventilation to ensure healthy air circulation.
The design should also capitalize on the tropical rainy seasons to reduce energy consumption. An inner air-well is highly desirable for ventilation and daylights.
Clever compartmentalization of spaces is designed to isolate and protect the users from any spread of covid19. Material choices for walling and flooring must withstand regular cleaning.
Disinfection systems like ultraviolet lights can be automated to operate during specific hours.

I have taken some time to imagine this page. Covid19 happened overnight and probably, our lifestyle and work life can never be the same. Professionals in my industry have overnight been reset, before MCO face2face meetings and now, zooming and other video chats available. Some people look at the app camera and say, "I've never worked so hard before, I don't get it, it's supposed to be work-from-home and yet.
Belzberg Architects, LA, US quoted, "overnight, we've reset from thinking of "our industry to our community".
These global murmurings has set me on this journey to re-imagine the profession | advisory services I have been carrying for years and how to be give it a rebirth
