FLUORITE – Blue Circle Quarry, Eastgate, Weardale, Durham | Lakeland Minerals This piece is dominated by a couple of large pale yellow Fluorite crystals to 20mm across in a bed of smaller Fluorite crystals on a limestone matrix. Yellow Fluorite from the Blue Circle Quarry is less common than the green and purple Fluorites from here.

If you are a collector of Fluorite you'll want a sample of this - rare reticulated Fluorite crystals. This piece is a mix of tabular and cubic crystals which is unusual in itself.

Reticulated FLUORITE - Old Towns Quarry, Newton Aycliffe, Durham | Lakeland Minerals A cavity in limestone lined with reticulated Fluorite. These crystals are a mixture of tabular and cubic forms which are aligned with each other. Unusual and rare form of Fluorite.

Barrow Mine was known for fine Cerussite samples in the 19th Century when it was being worked. These days the material on the dumps tends to be battered and bruised. However I have recently managed to find a few pieces with rich crusts of free standing terminated jackstraw Cerussite. Crystals are small (

CERUSSITE - Barrow Mine, Newlands Valley, Cumbria | Lakeland Minerals A good example of 'jackstraw' Cerussite crystals richly encrusting open fractures in Skiddaw Slate matrix. Barrow Mine was noted for Cerussite specimens during the nineteenth century when it was being worked, but modern collectable samples are rare.

I'm pleased to announce the discovery of Wavellite from a new location - Mellbreak Fell. I have only a few specimens available for sale through the website. The site of the find is very localised and only produced a handful of specimens.

WAVELLITE - Mellbreak Fell, Loweswater, Cumbria | Lakeland Minerals Small but nicely formed radial sprays of Wavellite formed along a fracture in shale. This is a new find of Wavellite and only the second occurrence in the Lake District.

BORACITE, HILGARDITE - Boulby Mine, Loftus, North Yorkshire | Lakeland Minerals A good small specimen of crystalline nodules of blue-green Boracite with a scattering of red Hilgardite.

Fresh in stock is a specimen of Strontianite from Strontian. At the moment it would cost a small fortune to self collect these, thankfully these are surplus specimens from well known british collector Roy Starkey.

STRONTIANITE for sale -Bellsgrove Mine, Strontian, Scotland | Lakeland Minerals Pale yellowish Strontianite crystals from the type locality. The Strontianite forms a vein infilling between compact white Barite. This is a nice example from this remote and important site. Ex Roy Starkey collection.

One of our latest Fluorite specimens for sale on the Lake District website. It has a more pronounced lovely pinkish purple colour in daylight than this photograph has captured and of course, from Weardale, has a blue colour under a UV light.

Lake District Minerals don't just sell minerals from the north of England. We have this sample of crystalline Mottramite on sandstone from Pim Hill Mine, Shropshire -thought likely to be the original source of the type locality specimens, https://etsy.me/3fDCQ3n

Amongst our recent additions is this small but good Pharmacosiderite from Burdell Gill - a small remote site easily missed, discovered in the nineteenth century but never mined. The Pharmacosiderite forms a crust of green crystals across the top surface of the specimen.

PHARMACOSIDERITE – Burdell Gill, Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria | Lakeland Minerals An excellent small location piece of green Pharmacosiderite crystals to 1.5mm forming a crust on a Quartz and Goethite matrix. As is common for this locality, the Pharmacosiderite is partly coated by a thin skin of brown Goethite.
