The Gospel Assembly
Tearing the hinges off the doors of fellowship, we're bringing the Word of Truth and faith building e
With content ranging from common questions & guided subject studies to inspiration & current events from the Christian point of view, you can easily challenge yourself and each other as you grow in faith and discuss all things pertaining to life and godliness.
Isolation. Loss. Depression...
We are all well acquainted with these and many others. Yet, too often we fail to call them by their true name:
Temptation.
Not that second slice of cake calling to your sugar cravings temptation, but the taking your eyes off God and all his blessings temptation.
It's so easy to get overwhelmed and caught up in what's happening in your life at the moment:
Anxiety. Divorce. Watching loved ones slowly succumb to disease...
These are common to us all and hard to bear.
And, though we may be pressed beyond measure as the storms rage against us...
We can endure!
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
1 Corinthians 10: 13
King Solomon knew where that escape was:
"The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe."
Proverbs 18: 10
Isaiah prophesied of it:
"And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest;"
Isaiah 32: 2
The Apostles lived the example of it:
"For we would not have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;"
2 Corinthians 1: 8 - 10
Though these temptations claw and rip at us, desiring to turn our minds and attention away from God and his promises of deliverance, if we keep our trust in God, sowing hope in tears as the Apostles did..
We reap in joy and the true consolation of PEACE and eternal life.
Isaiah 26: 3.
And, we become a source of strength for those around us.
"Whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
And ... as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. "
2 Corinthians 1: 5 - 7
Just use the way of escape!

Are you enduring the storm? Comment below and share with us how God has been there for you in your times of trouble!
The trials of this life can be challenging.
They can wear you down, discourage you, and stir a fear that nothing is going to change...
But, don't give up!
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning!"
Psalms 30: 5
This trial has an end!
Hold fast to the Hope you have in the Lord, be patient, and trust that God has heard your prayers.
He will answer. He will move.
"He shall strengthen your heart" and give you what you need to endure -to see the promise of Joy fulfilled!
So, "fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord" in your life!
Exodus 14: 13

Are you all talk, or are your words backed by action?
Let's say it another way: Do you claim Christianity or do you live it? Are you abounding in faith, or are you destitute of wisdom?
Claiming Faith and not living it? Christ called that hypocrisy:
"Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, this people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
Matthew 15: 7 - 9
Ouch. Not only hypocrites, but Christ said their worship was in vain!
Yup, you can worship in vain. And, their lips brought them only vanity, spiritual penury- extreme poverty.
So, if we claim to follow Christ, how do we back that up that we might profit -rather- abound in our Faith?
"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."
Luke 9: 23
Did Christ just call us to a daily routine? Yup.
"...the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
John 4: 23
In Spirit & in Truth.
"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
When we walk in the Spirit, Laboring in God's Word, we profit. But, when we merely claim to be Christian, not denying ourselves -our flesh, we profit nothing. We are destitute of the truth and in spiritual penury.
Most importantly? We are called to perform this labor, daily!
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him IN spirit and IN truth."
John 4: 24
"I am the way, the TRUTH, and the Life."
John 14: 6
We cannot expect to abound in our Faith unless we are IN God's Truth, IN Christ!
We have to live the example set before us! Daily! Let's not honor him with our lips alone, but with our hearts through action!

Ready to overcome?
Then hit those knees and cry out to God!
Strength doesn't come from "willpower," but from God, "which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."
Philippians 2: 13
So, are you hungry for the victory? Are you seeking that overcoming power? Seeking God's strength in your life?
Then, remember the prayer of David:
"Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all."
1 Chronicles 29: 11 & 12
It all belongs to God! And, it's yours to have if you but reach out and take hold of it!
As a child of God, it's your birthright! Claim it!
Don't fall short of it by trying to do it yourself!
"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might!"
Ephesians 6: 10

Temptation abounds.
It can come from any direction. From buying something you cant afford to sneaking that candy bar despite your blood sugar.
But, maybe its not as innocent.
Maybe it's a dark temptation whispering in your ear, telling you you're not good enough or that you simply can't do what you know you need to.
"You can't change." "You're not worthy." "Just give up, it's too hard for you." "Why even try?"
Worst of all: "Just do it. You can ask for forgiveness later." "You're alone." "No-one understands you." "No-one knows what you're going through."
But, the truth is that "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:"
1 Corinthians 10: 13.
Yup. You're not alone. Even Christ "was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
Hebrews 4: 15
Most importantly? God "will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;"
Our Heavenly Father knows where you are in life. He knows how strong you are and what you can handle!
If you're being tempted by something, "let not your heart be troubled!" God is literally saying he has confidence in you to overcome it!
"But this temptation is too hard! I don't feel like I can bear it!"
You can! Don't give up!
God "will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it!"
1 Corinthians 10: 13
King David knew where that escape was:
"Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress."
Psalms 71: 2 & 3
That escape is in Christ! In the Word!
So, when you feel faint or like you're going to give in or give up...
Cry out to God!
For his "strength is made perfect in weakness!"
"Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him."
Psalms 95: 14 & 15
Are you Christ's, or are you yet walking in the Flesh?
Here's how you know:
"The works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:"
Galatians 5: 19 - 21
Let's break a some of those down for clarity...
Lasciviousness is causing someone to envy or lust.
Idolatry isn't just worshiping another "God," it's anything you put before him.
Witchcraft is deceit & Variance is doublemindedness.
Sedition is rebellion against authority.
Murder? Well, the devil was a murder just by lying to Eve.
Drunkenness isn't just alcohol. It's running to excess. In business, in relationships, and in life in general. You can be drunk on anything.
And such like. Yup, that means anything like these.
Break open your dictionary alongside your bible tonight, study these Works of the Flesh.
Why?
"Of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
Galatians 5: 21
You read that correctly. "They which do." That's anybody. It doesn't matter if you claim Christ or not.
So, remember, "They that are Christ's have crucified the Flesh with the affections and lusts."
They that are Christ's have repented from dead works, the Carnal Mind, and self will.

"Where have you been?!"
Yep. It's been over a week since our last post and I wanted to give everyone a little update.
First, my wife and I want to say thank you for all the prayers. She and my son have officially immigrated from Korea into the U.S.! We had to travel to our state's capitol and undergo their immigration interview so that the government could scrutinize and validate the authenticity of our marriage.
It had been a stressful few weeks -a storm of trials- but God has blessed us beyond our prayerful hopes and brought us through it all!
With that, I am back in town and back to work! So, get ready for all the soul-nourishing content you expect with a big announcement to come tomorrow~
PS: We're looking to use your favorite verses for our upcoming image-quotes! If you want to contribute, we'll even credit you for the idea! You can find the details in the post at the top of our page ;)
May the Grace of God shine through you all!
Seeking something?
There is power in prayer, but is your prayer getting through?
No matter your circumstance or what mountain tries to overshadow you…
The simple act of striking your knees and crying out to the Father for deliverance will banish every dark shadow that tries to darken your walk in the light!
Remember that “all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
Matthew 21: 22
Do you need healing? Better judgment? Strength, or Wisdom?
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.”
James 1: 5 & 6
Christ even told his disciples, “If ye have faith, and doubt not… ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”
Matthew 21: 21
But did you catch the key to these three verses?
It must be asked IN faith, believing. Without doubt or wavering.
“For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”
Why?
“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
James 1: 6 - 8
Double mindedness is Variance, a “work of the flesh”. There is no righteousness in Variance.
Galatians 5: 19 - 21
And, it’s the “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man” that “availeth much.”
Feel like your prayers aren't getting through?
“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;”
1 Corinthians 13: 5
Have you put on the “Robes of Righteousness?”
Isaiah 61: 10
Here’s a hint: That’s Christ, “the power of God, and the WISDOM of God.”
1 Corinthians 1: 24
And “wisdom is the principal thing!” So, when you hit those knees, seeking something of God, ask for more of Christ, God’s Light, to shine in your life!
Ask for the strength to perform God’s will in your life!
Always pray according to God’s will, as Christ taught us:
“When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.”
Luke 11: 2
“Thy Will be done.” It’s not about what we want, but what God wants for us!
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”
James 4: 3
Remember Christ in the Garden! Three times he prayed that the cup of crucifixion would pass from him, but what else did he pray?
“O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
Matthew 26: 39
So again, if you feel like there’s a mountain darkening your walk with Christ, a strong trial of your faith, but you feel like those prayers aren’t getting through…
Take a step back and look where you can move closer to God in your life! Pray for more Wisdom -for more of Christ in your Life!
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him!”
Then watch as those mountains melt under the mighty hand of God and are cast into the sea!
It’s God’s promise to the righteous!
Want more of God’s empowering word? Follow us and feast on the Bread of Life!
We are at war!
The enemy is much closer than you realize!
It’s the one person staring back at you in the mirror!
Christ said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny HIMSELF, and take up his cross DAILY, and follow me.”
Luke 9: 23
You think this fight is a one and done affair? You claim Jesus and take a nice dip in some water and go about your merry way?
No!
When you give your life to Christ, the “Captain of Our Salvation,” you enlist into a war against the flesh- against yourself!
And if you should slip and fall?
Pick yourself up and dust those knees off!
Keep “fighting the good fight of faith, and lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called!”
1 Timothy 6: 12
“Be strong in the GRACE that is in Christ Jesus,” and “endure hardness as a good SOLDIER of Jesus Christ!
2 Timothy 2: 1 & 3
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin NOT. And IF any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:”
1 John 2: 1
Is the fight raging in your life right now? Is the enemy fierce and hard to overcome?
The Lord “is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3: 9
He’s not going to let you be overcome, IF you just keep fighting and striving for the Victory!
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10: 13
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain MERCY, and find GRACE to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4: 16
“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful!”
Psalms 116: 5
He wants you to win! Don’t give up!
Keep fighting! You can and will endure it through Christ!
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Philippians 4: 13

“Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”
But, “how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent?”
Romans 10: 13 - 17
Building your faith can’t be done alone or on your own. There is an order that's been established.
Study is good -Prayer & Fasting is good- but, to truly get more faith, to abound in it, you have to go through Christ!
Jesus taught us how faith came, and the importance of gathering together to receive the Words of Life. You can see what he taught in Hebrews 6: 1 - 3.
But, the Laying on of Hands is more than healing from the presbytery!
It teaches us the Government of the Church -the Body of Christ! How God set up that authority, and how by the Holy Ghost, he increases our Faith through the Word of God spoken through the preacher!
Think you can get by without ever assembling yourselves together under the Voice of One?
That's not what the Word teaches.
Curious? Build your faith and learn more through our Podcast and Audio Archive!

Is your life established in Christ?
Ponder the path you’re taking today. Are your feet treading the King’s Highway?
There’s only one path that leads to God, and that’s through -in- Christ.
“I am the WAY, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the father, but by me.” John 16: 6
So the question is, “How do we enter Christ?”
“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ.”
Galatians 3: 27
That’s right, we have to be baptized into Jesus, which also puts us into his death, and “like as Christ was raised by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6: 1-6, 11 & 12
Are your feet striking the footsteps of a new life? Or is the dirt of the old paths still fresh on your boots?
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5: 17.
So again, ponder the path of thy feet: Are you yet in your sins or are you in a newness of life, walking in the King’s Highway?
“An highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it” …”but the redeemed shall walk there.”
Isaiah 35 8 & 9.

Praise God for the resurrection of our lord and savior, who through his life, example, and the blood of his sacrifice we have access to salvation and a life free from bo***ge!
may be this weekend, but we celebrate its meaning every day of our life, our hope firmly placed in the declaration that Christ is “the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection.”
How? By walking in a newness of life!
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6: 3 & 4.
I challenge you all to read Romans 6 this weekend. Dedicate that time as thanks for the precious gift and promises we have in Christ!

It’s easy to come down on someone or something.
“What they’re doing is wrong,” right?
Especially in today’s world.
But, what about mercy -what about ?
What about how Christ handled the adulterous woman in John 8: 1-11?
She was worthy of death. If anyone had the right to come down on her and execute judgement, it was Christ.
But, what did he do? He called out her accusers! “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone.”
Basically, “Which of you is guiltless before God and not worthy of death?”
And, when they had all left, convicted of their own conscience, Christ asked where her accusers were, “Where are thine accusers?”
“No man, Lord”
“Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.”
Now hold on, did you see what happened there?
Christ didn’t stop at , did he?
He gave her a commandment.
“Go, and sin no more.”
Though he was gentle in his words, he was strong in his conviction.
He spared her -granted her mercy.
Where she was worthy of death, Christ gently told her how to live!
But, what do you see in this? What lesson do you feel God speaking into your heart as you read this?
Comment below and share how you can apply this passage in your life!
Fighting doubt is a part of the journey.
It’s that jagged edge biting into your hands as you scale the Lord’s mountain, and the dark storm clouds gathering overhead.
Yes, doubt fervently tempts us to release our hold and urges us to turn back...
And, Though the wind may howl, “You can’t do this -you’re not strong enough,”
We know all things are possible through Christ which strengthens us!
No, -WE- can’t do it of our own selves, but it is through Christ, the power and wisdom of God within us, that gives us the strength to overcome any challenge!
His strength is made perfect in weakness! In doubt!
So, when doubt sinks its teeth in and darkens your vision -when the hardships of life present the harshest of challenges- remember:
We are more than conquerors through him that loves us!
So, with all your might, lean into the promises of his strength and salvation!
Cry out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
It is both a declaration of victory and a plea for God to show his power.
Shout it loud, and watch as your doubt is broken under the mighty hand of God’s deliverance!
Like, share, and follow if you’re counting on God’s saving hand!
It’s time to cast that stress aside!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or bogged down by the relentless assault of life’s demands, remember you have entered into a Covenant with God.
You have made a binding agreement and contract with your Maker!
He has promised you -YOU- that he will be a very present help in times of trouble and that you will never suffer more than you can bear -that he will always provide you a means of escape!
And though it may be his will that you suffer a little for your edification, he will never withhold anything good from you.
What’s good? How about peace, comfort, and joy?
So, have you been keeping up your end of the deal -have you been doing your best to follow in the footsteps of and his example of ?
Then, what are you waiting for? Come boldly before the throne of grace and seek God for the deliverance and peace he promised you!
Hold God accountable to his Word!
For !
Like and share if you're holding God to his promises in your life!
