We have the much anticipated addition of Hebburn lad and MasterChef UK contestant Jonny Stewart who will be slapping you around your flavour chops with his inspiring and creative take on fried chicken.

Bringing authentic flavours of 🇮🇹 - we're also over the moon to welcome Italy Abroad who will be cooking up pasta in a full wheel of parmesan - if you've not seen it before then you better get yourself down.

Remember, we're lovers NOT fighters.

Our Local Heroes NE pop up Larder will be selling a range of 🧀 cheeses 🧀 from Northumberland's Doddington Dairy

The Local Heroes stall will also be selling locally grown and produced spelt flour from Craggs & Co of Sedgefield as well as top quality organic butter from Acorn Dairy from Darlington.

Bringing some Mediterranean flavours to Sunniside, we can also confirm well be joined by Feinkost who will be selling olives and other marinated produce.

Geordie Banger Co. will also be selling farm fresh eggs from Northumbrian Free Range Eggs Ltd 🥚

With Spinning Superiority Record Shop DJ sets + vintage vinyl, live acoustic music, Nichola Reeder Steve Reeder will be bringing their Rebel Hearts🍺 bar featuring McColl's Brewery, a public art trail and activities + there will be giant outdoor games courtesy of Sunderland BID 🙏

With the roads closed for your pleasure, we invite as many of you as possible to chill the day away, celebrate and support local businesses and bring your brilliant town to life.

Keep your eyes peeled and you might see Sunderland artist Hannah Graham Story Teller who will be treating us to live portraits and storytelling.

It's refugee week and our partners in crime Sunshine Co-operative have been working with women who have made Sunderland their home.

Join Andrea from Sunshine as she introduces you to the wonderful foodie that is Naila - who will be showing you how to make an authentic chicken curry and a vegetable rice from Pakistan.

Demos are at 11.00 am and 1.00pm.

At 12pm, we have some West African Drumming workshops for families. All ages and abilities welcome, FREE with Mark Barfoot and Tracey West from Sacred Sounds CIC

This image is from February 1st 2022 - our first site visit when asked by South Tyneside Council to see if we saw potential in this space for a community market.

When we launched our first market, we had 27 traders - some of the very best from across the North East.

During the summer months it can be difficult to attract traders to smaller events due to the glut of larger, commercially driven food festivals and events across the region and beyond.

But we are absolutely committed to bringing the best of local food and drink to communities such as Hebburn at the same time as supporting the growth of local businesses and entrepreneurs.

To us and our parent organisation Food and Drink North East - this right and an expectation.

BUT - we need your support and not always in the shape of your hard earned £.

We appreciate that the cost of living is putting pressure on everyone but there's so much more you can do to support us:

🗣 Spread the word - tag us in your posts, tell a friend, tell your pets, tell your neighbours, talk to your hairdresser.

💡Suggest some improvements - what other types of locally sourced produce would you like to see on the market? Fruit, veg, meat, fish? What can we be doing to improve?

👥 Volunteer - is there a specific community angle we aremissing? Is there anything you can bring to support the running of the market in return for a free local breakfast and lunch and all round good craic?!!

The traders rely on the market being busy and the busier the market is, the better and more diverse a range of traders we can attract and retain.

We believe that EVERYONE, no matter your postcode, deserves good local food and that the people of Hebburn deserve better on their doorsteps so please help us make your market thrive.

In two years, we've managed to turn this quiet square into a thriving market place, albeit only once a month.
