Today we celebrate Navy SEAL Jason Workman's heavenly birthday. He would have been 45 years old today. Sadly, he perished with 29 of his brothers in the 8.6.11 tragedy in Afghanistan. Please raise a glass with me to honor his life and his legacy and to make sure that he is never forgotten!

Lt. Murphy was an avid reader. At Penn State, Michael lived next door to most of his friends at University Commons on Vairo Blvd. They would leave the door unlocked for him so he could come in anytime he liked. In the mornings, they would usually find him sprawled out with a book. His favorite was "Gates of Fire," which tells the story of the Spartans and battling forces of the Persian Empire in the Battle of Thermopylae. The vastly outnumbered Spartans lose, but they stand their ground for an impossible amount of time. Only one survives.

Today is the birthday of a very special lady. Debbie Lee is the mother of fallen Navy SEAL, Marc Lee, who was the first SEAL KIA in Iraq on Aug 2, 2006. Debbie took her grief and turned it into a mission of kindness and paying it forward in her son’s memory by founding America's Mighty Warriors, which provides assistance to veterans in need. Marc’s legacy lives on and continues to make a positive ripple effect in the world. Please help me wish Mama Lee a very special birthday today to let her know we see her and appreciate all she does. A 16th century painting showing the skinning alive of a corrupt judge, Sisamnes, in the year 500BC.
Sisamnes was a corrupt royal judge at the time of Cambyses ll in Persia.

It was discovered that he took a bribe in court and passed an unfair judgement. As a consequence the king ordered that he be arrested for his corruption and ordered that he be skinned alive. Before passing judgement the king asked Sisamnes who he wished to nominate as his successor. Sisamnes, in his greed, chose his son, Otanes.

The king agreed and appointed Otanes to replace his father. He subsequently passed judgement and ordered that Sisamnes removed skin should be used to upholster the seat on which the new judge would sit in court to remind him of the potential consequences of corruption.

Otanes, in his deliberations, was forced to always remember that he was always sitting on the skin of his executed father. This helped to ensure fairness and equity in all his hearings, deliberations and sentences.
