Angling with Officers

So it begins. Angling with Officers begins a new season in Ohio this year. Matthew, from the Cleveland Division of Police, brought his son Matthew Jr. and his father-in-law Scott, and they were pretty successful out on Lake Erie with a total of thirteen fish! Scott caught the biggest at 28 1/2", and Matthew Jr. caught several 23 - 24" Walleyes. It was a perfect morning on Lake Erie.

Thank you for all the support I had on day 1 of the tournament. To recap, the fish I was on were in Lorain which was 51 miles away from where we launched. It took an hour and a half to get there. As soon as we put baits out it was game on. My co-angler Grant Smith and I had 5 fish in the live well by 10:00. By 11:30 we had upgraded all 5 fish. Grant caught the biggest one of all at close to 31". Day 2 was a different story. The wind was coming out of the NW 10-15 miles an hour. It took 2 hours to get to Lorain with a cameraman in the boat. My co-angler Curt Krajniak and I got baits out, fish on immediately. Then the wind hit. I made the decision to pack up and leave. I've been in 5 footers before, but not out 51 miles and they were becoming 7 footers. Took close to 3 1/2 hours to get in. It was a hard decision to make. The fish were there. Thanks again to everybody for your support. And congratulations to Grant for getting 1st place as co-angler. And big shout out to one of my partners Captain Ronnie Rhodes. He placed 12th. Great job!

Well after a lot of pre fishing ,Lake Erie hit us with different wind ,currents and she let us know who is the boss lol. We ended up 12 place out of 140 boats. Its very hard to make the right move we all try to the decision, so many great sticks fishing the tournament, Congratulations to all the people who cashed a check . Thanks for all the calls, text, and pm . Its means so much . The annual Angling With Officers Championship kicked off on Lake Erie Saturday with Team Cleveland Police, the reining champions, versus Team Denver Police Department. Both teams fished out of Cleveland on Saturday, and it was a grind and the bite was slow. Team Cleveland weighed in with 5 fish totaling 20.01 pounds and Team Denver PD weighed 4 fishing totaling 21.47 pounds. Day two both department's launched out of Sheffield Lake. Team Cleveland weighed 5 fish totaling 26.31 pounds giving them a total of 46.32 pounds for the tournament, and Team Denver PD weighed 5 fish totaling 26.50 pounds, giving them a total of 47.97 pounds for the tournament and the win by a narrow margin. We would like to thank Craig at Erie Outfitters for hosting the weigh in at his shop, and all the officers for their work everyday. Time to start planning for the 2024 season, make sure to come by our booth this year at the Progressive Cleveland Boat Show to learn more about the program amd sponsorship opportunities. We went out on the water today with Toni and Darlene from the Denver PD to pre-fish for the tournament against the Cleveland PD. The fishing was spectacular today with some really nice walleye caught and a few steelhead. We want to thank all of our sponsor who made this trip possible, and good luck to the Cleveland PD. The annual Angling with officers regional tournament will take place on Lake Erie November 4th and 5th. Denver Pd will compete against the Cleveland Pd for the championship. Thanks to the deparments that participated this year we had a phenomenal turnout , and enjoyed taking everyone out this year for some great walleye fishing.
The fishing on Lake Erie has been spectacular so far I was joined by Chris from Thornton Pd with his friend Nate and their kids, Mike from Denver Pd as been fish as well. We caught some great fish and they truly enjoyed the Laker Erie fishing. Had a couple's battle on the water today. Jessica from Thornton Pd and Leigh from Wheatridge Pd. I took them to do something a little different today, and it paid off. They caught 22 walleye with 7 keepers. 2 ended up being over 20 inches. They had a total of 18.78 pounds. 8.1 pounds goes to Wheatridge's total, and 10.68 to Thornton.
