Oh, Roger… That’s what so many of my conversations contain when we discuss our youngest. I go to work with new stories almost daily of the wild antics of our littlest farm kiddo. From “Jackass” style stunts, …

Update: Drs Appointment March 16, 2023 Hello Liver family! I thank everyone for waiting, reaching out and wondering how I am doing! As you all know I had an appointment in March. I was experiencing a lot of different symptoms, issues, o…
Sundays typically are my favorite days. They are a day of rest, our family day, we try to not do anything on Sundays other than spend the day together as a family, and we normally have the best dinner of the week. 💚💜
This Sunday is not that day, but that’s okay. We have had a weird and rough couple of days, but we shall always persevere. 💛
Today I have some amazing smelling bone broth simmering on the stove, which I’ll make some delicious beef stew with for dinner tonight. 😍
I’m sorry for the hiatus after my appointment Thursday. We had a very long day at the hospital that day, and I’m trying my best to put everything into words. I promise I’ll have a blog post update in the next day or two. 💜💗
Happy Healthy Sunday Folks.
With love,
Courtney 🌱💫
Today is the day! Ultrasound, followed by a lot of bloodwork, then netting with my doctor. Let’s hope and pray for some answers either way! 💜💛💚
As some one who works in the veterinary field, I naturally love animals. I mean, most people do right?! They make our lives better, brighter and happier. There are many service animals out there, pets with jobs and duties. Military, police dogs, guide animals, service pets, therapy dogs, working dogs, herd dogs, livestock guardian animals, the list goes on. But, what about just our “average” every day pets?...

Welcome! My name is Courtney. I am a proud farmers Wife, mom to 3, Cat mom to too many, and dog mom to 2.
This blog page will be my main communication for updates and my health. I chose to make the page title light hearted and kind of funny, because I'm trying my best to see the best, enjoy the life God has given me, and see the happiness that lies beyond. So welcome to Liver, But Hold The Onions.
I have been battling Autoimmune Hepatitis for 8 years now. I've had ups, downs and all around in my time with the disease. In the beginning I was told that a Transplant may be needed somewhere down the road, in years, and years. Unfortunately, that road keeps getting shorter. As time goes on I get sick, and get better, get sick and get better. Every time I have a "flare" when my liver enzymes spike, this causes me to get extremely ill. My personal goal once learning of my cirrhosis in 2019 was to try and make it until my 40's or 50's before I needed a Transplant. My last bad flare in the summer of 2021 moved that date up. At my last check up with my Gastroenterologist, she said we needed to start this discussion and the steps to get me to the transplant list. This moved me from yes one day, to let's talk about getting you on the transplant list. Which is where we stand today. The past few weeks I have done multiple tests and bloodworks to see where we stand in that need. May will be my next followup with my Gastroenterologist, in which we will discuss my candidacy for Transplant and our options. I will be pushing for and looking for a living donor. This speeds up my process in theory, making me less likely to be in total liver failure by the time my transplant comes around, this also should help my healing and recovery time in addition to my age! Follow along here for my story, updates, information on organ donation, search for a donor, and eventually my transplant.
With Love,
Courtney 💜💛
