Edinburgh City AFC
Edinburgh city's Saturday amateur team.
Some major shifts happening within the City camp on this Transfer Deadline Day... The phone is going crazy with Jim White trying to get the first hand knowledge of what's been going on.
However, we've decided to bring it directly to you, our supporters first.
First, we would like to announce a farewell message to our loyal player (when he's not in town trying to pull birds) Callum Lewis who is leaving to further his less important career in Malta! We wish him all the best in his time there and his future career. Also in any footballing adventures he undertakes (unless we meet in Europe of course)
Second, we would like to congratulate one of our coaches Brad Mckay on signing a 2 year deal with Inverness which unfortunately means he'll no longer be able to carry out coaching with the boys. We would like to wish him all the best up North & he will no doubt have a successful time there.
The final, is as a result, a young up and coming coach is going to be helping out the management team in the shape of Bryan Weir who has been signed up to player/coach for the rest of the campaign.
Thankfully we were able to send the boys on their way with a 6-1 thrashing of Icapb!
All the best lads!

MATCH REPORT:
Tonight's match took place at the Gyle Park in an away fixture against Inter Edinburgh where we succumbed to a 5-3 defeat, in a goal filled second half.
City had the better of the opening exchanges with a few chances going begging but the scoring was opened by Inter when City gave away a penalty, which the Inter player scored, by calmly sending the keeper the wrong way.
City continued to dominate and managed to draw level 10 minutes later, when a throw in by Frost was acrobatically sent goalwards by Smith and then headed home on the line by Osbourne to open his account for the season.
City continued to dominate the first half but couldn't seem to capitalise on the amount of chances they were getting. It took until a minute before half time for a Lewis corner to be headed back across by Black, this time the overhead kick was provided by Osbourne and this time it was knocked in to the empty net by Lamb, scoring 2 in 2 games.
The game was turned on its head with City's goalkeeper being shown a red card for what we believe was dissent after the referee awarded another penalty to Inter.
Inter equalised from the spot with a well struck penalty & within 3 minutes they took the lead with what looked like an offside goal, but the forward finished well by rounding the stand in keeper and smashing it in.
They added a 4th with an attack down the city right and it played in to the area with the forward driving the ball in to the top corner.
With 5 minutes remaining it was put beyond City's reach with a cross in to the box which was met with a header that the keeper could only get a hand to.
City grabbed a late consolation goal when Dave delivered a great ball in to the area which was met with a towering header by Black who knocked it low beyond the keeper grasp.
The match ended Inter Edinburgh 5-3 Edinburgh City.

MATCH REPORT:
On a windy Saturday down here at Seafield City's beginning of the season didn't get off to the start that we'd hoped and we succumbed to a 7-1 defeat.
City were under pressure early on in the game and went behind after 5 minutes when the central midfielder for Fauldhouse chipped the ball in behind the city back line, and the striker smashed it home to open the scoring.
It took until the 29th minute before City were undone again when the ball was slotted through the back four for the forward to round the keeper and tap it in.
The first half drew to a close with the score remaining 2-0 in to the break.
It didn't take long for Fauldhouse to press home their advantage scoring the 3rd three minutes in to the half, lashing home a loose ball from a long throw.
In the 53rd minute there was a corner for Fauldhouse which was met with a towering header to extend the advantage to 4-0.
Four minutes later it was 5-0 with another through ball causing chaos.
It took until the 74th minute for City to finally get off the mark, some intricate play between Parker & Morrison then it was moved on to Lewis who played a fantastic lofted through ball to Lamb who rounded the keeper and rolled the ball in to an empty net. Making the score 5-1.
Two minutes later though Fauldhouse re-established their 5 goal advantage with a volley that the keeper could only get his hand to.
Fauldhouse had a goal disallowed in the 84th minute with some neat football and a chipped finish but the referee disallowed it for offside.
The final goal was scored in the 90th minute with a ball in to the box and the forward jumped with the City keeper and the ball ended up in the net, could have been a foul but the referee wasn't interested.
The final score was Edinburgh City 1-7 Fauldhouse.

MATCH REPORT:
On a wet night in bandit country at the Jewel, Edinburgh City took on a new side in the east division in Edinburgh Thistle.
This new look side, couldn't have prepared themselves for the footballing masterclass that was about to be on display.
It didn't take long before City were looking to cause havoc for the Thistle back line with Milligan driving to the byline and firing the ball across the box, only to be scythed down like it was the Grimm Reaper himself, but the referee knows of this lads reputation and waved played on.
It wasn't long before City got the break through they had so deserved with Smith playing a lofted through ball in to Lambs stride, he rolled it between the keepers legs shouting 'ole' as he passed and tapped the ball in to the open net.
Moments later Milligan was clattered to the ground, but Weir with some quick thinking dispatched the free kick early through the back line & Lamb bursts through again and rounds the keeper and rolls the ball home.
Lamb didn't have to wait long for his hat trick with a ball played over the top by Nicolson and it squirmed through the centre halves legs like a train through a tunnel and Lamb capitalised by rounding the keeper and tapping it home... Taking his shirt off was a little over the top in a friendly but we'll let him off, he doesn't get many hat tricks.
Thistle tried to work their way back in to it and finally managed to get on the scoresheet with a bit of ping pong in the box after a corner which was lashed in to the net by the centre half to make it 3-1.
Weir played a defence splitting pass through the back line which Lamb ran on to and had a woeful touch but somehow managed to recover to slide it coolly beyond the keeper re-establishing City's 3 goal cushion.
Thistle continued to try and work and opening and find a way back in to the game but unfortunately the tie was put to bed when Milligan nicked in as the defender tried to clear, and went down (dive) and the referee pointed to the spot. Milligan stepped up to take it and the cheeky git only went and panenka'd it down the middle, the first half ended with the scoreline 5-1.
Only moments in to the second half Nicolson switches the ball wide to Heatlie who played a beautiful reverse ball in to Lamb who somehow manages to score his fifth. I believe he was called in for drug testing post match.
Lamb then turned provider as he played the ball in to Heatlie on the edge of the area who decided he fancied not only a goal but the goal of the game, so with a glance up he flights a delicate chip right under the crossbar. The keeper had no chance and the scoreline was extended to 7-1.
Lewis drilled a corner across the 6 yard box which was met by the foot of Weir to crash the ball in to the Thistle net.
Lewis delivered another great ball in to the area which bobbled around a bit before being struck home by G. Smith and extended City's lead further.
Thistle looked to save some face and came close with a whistling strike that hammered the inside of the post but rebounded in to the grateful arms of Leggat.
Milligan then manages to work his way in to the box and is tackled to the ground again (another dive) he steps up confidently again but this time he opts to pass it in to the bottom corner with aplomb... City hit double figures and make it 10-1.
Milligan then added the assist for the 11th with a curling free kick that was punched by the keeper and bounced off of Mckeating who celebrated as if he had just scored the Scottish cup winner with an Alan shearer special.
City's final goal of the game was provided by R. Smith after he converted a great ball across the face by Milligan.
Thistle, desperate to try and save any face that they could from this match, managed to work the ball to their forward due to an error from City and he rounded the keeper who had no choice but to bring him down. The taker stepped up and hammered it past Leggat who didn't stand a chance.
The game ended Edinburgh City 12-2 Edinburgh Thistle.
